i'm just plonking this here, will be back later to fill in the details, but the Met Office have just named Storm Dennis for Sunday the 15th Feb.

In the mean time, here have a load of weather warnings including an amber for snow.

Well done to everyone involved with sandbags.

So parts of south Wales could see up to 120mm fall. By the end of tomorrow, one or two spots in the South Downs could also see 80mm of rain.

Still obsessively checking Bristol Airport and Knock Airport for any signs of what our flight might do tomorrow lunchtime. Looks like it will have calmed down in Bristol but that the wind will have picked up again in the west of Ireland! I'm really hoping we get there as we're only going for 3 nights (because of work) visiting family and I have a cousin who is very ill that I want to see.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 15/02/2020 16:34

The wind has got bad here in North Essex, very loud too, its going to get worse, isn't it ☹️

mogloveseggs · 15/02/2020 17:05

@GiantKitten I'm very close to you and it's wild! Stood outside dd school waving her off on a school trip an hour ago and it nearly blew me over no mean feat as I'm short and fat so low centre of gravity

Rowgtfc72 · 15/02/2020 17:41

Cleethorpes, east coast. Been wet all day but the wind feels much stronger than last weekend. Survived without damage then but doubt we will this time.

OldQueen1969 · 15/02/2020 17:54

Bournemouth here...... am in a part of the town centre that's a bit of a wind tunnel with a light breeze.......today has just been horrendous...... my very securely chained overhead shop sign has actually swung so hard it's hit the roof above it - we're on a sort of parade of shops with a sort of covered walk way area.

I've been checking local live updates and the Guardian all day, and also the wind speed thingy that someone linked to in the storm thread on AIBU - fascinating!

Our lights have been flickering a bit - fingers crossed the power doesn't go..... we have decided to get a taxi home this evening because standing around at the bus stop really doesn't appeal - I actually think it's much worse than last weekend.

The irony is this area is going to be regenerated and made pedestrianised with open air spaces for local workers to eat their lunch and for outside events etc - I reckon even on a mild day it'll be quite challenging because of our position not far from the coast...... heaven only knows what it will be like in this sort of weather!!!!

On holiday in Chudleigh, S Devon. The river Teign has burst it banks. Scary stuff.

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2020 18:12

Just back from Central London. trains running fine. It's very wet in London and very windy at street corners. Nearly got blown off my feet at Tottenham Court Road station entrance.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/02/2020 18:38

Rather sharp squall line showing now.
That was a good spot earlier Biddy!
Any weather reports from that area?

It's at its worst here. Doesn't seem too bad, but can't see very far. Hoping my bin is still in the bin shed.

FuckThisWind · 15/02/2020 18:45

I'm on that squall line Kitten. And by gosh, are we feeling it! Went from 0 to100 here. Or so it feels. Checking leaking conservatory roof every 5 mins.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/02/2020 18:46

I can imagine Fuck .

Does anyone else feel that the wind is making them feel extra fighty? I feel like I could box my own shadow this evening. Untangling wool in this mood did not go down well.

Well it's wet and miserable still in Dublin but didn't feel too wild today. A lot of rain though - I swept our side passage with the yard brush to get rid of slippy algae growth over winter, and realised that my waterproof sailing jacket pockets are not as waterproof as I'd thought (my phone and car keys are in a bag of rice to dry out at the moment).

TheMemoryLingers · 15/02/2020 18:50

I normally like silence on a Saturday, but I've had the radio on loudly since midday to try to block out the sound of wind howling round my house.

GiantKitten · 15/02/2020 18:58

Hope your DD’s trip goes smoothly!

It did start whipping up here not long after I posted before. Our house faces E-W luckily, so not getting hammered from the S, but bay window getting lashed with rain now.

Someone posted on FB recently that the A59 is flooding in a few places, so I’m crossing fingers for Whalley etc

JacquesHammer · 15/02/2020 19:02

Wind howling, rain torrential and river rising. Balls.

mogloveseggs · 15/02/2020 19:05

@GiantKitten thanks! Hope you are ok it's really noisy here now
We're not in a flood area thank god but one way out of our village floods when there's heavy rain. It's also incredibly windy here at the best of times! Why do I live here Grin
Hoping the porch roof doesn't leak like it did last week Hmm
Whalley was awful so sad for everyone involved.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 15/02/2020 19:08

So loud here in North Essex. Not sure how much I'll sleep tonight.

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2020 19:12

Suddenly got very very windy in Beds.

cheninblanc · 15/02/2020 19:17

The weather in South east is now horrible. Really windy and wet. Its this meant to go on until tmrw?

woodencoffeetable · 15/02/2020 19:22

blowing really hard here.
neighbour's cat litter thingy flew off their balcony again
was only replaced after it flew down during ciara.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 15/02/2020 19:33

Edge of north yorkshire, boardering Cleveland here- 20 mins ago we had a very loud and bright thunder and lightning storm, lots of sideways rain and very heavy hail, DP currently driving home from Middlesbrough- says it's all quiet over that way. Good luck everyone!

Who keeps the cat litter tray outside on a balcony? Shock
Hope the cat wasn’t inside!

@mogloveseggs

What time are you expecting to hear that DD’s coach has arrived at their location?

It’s wet & windy here (SE), but we’re in a pretty good location. Bit worried about the roof, but it’s under a leasehold so nothing we can do about it (the others are dragging their feet to get it replaced 😖 I get that no one wants to spend money on a roof but I’m of the mind we should just get it done because it’ll be more expense, WAY more hassle & inconvenience if it’s left until someone gets a major problem (already a couple others have had several small/med leaks) but not a brain cell amongst them [hmmm] so I assume we will be doing it after a storm at great expense. It’s more WHEN, not IF 😩

My thoughts are with everyone worrying/scared tonight x

mogloveseggs · 15/02/2020 19:39

AmelieTaylor not till tomorrow-travelling to Italy
Think I'll be happier once they've got off the ferry at Calais
