@ItsTheGloaming ~ Is that from next Saturday? If so (and this is a bit far ahead to be certain), there's a bit of a NW/SE split developing this week, that means the NW could get some rain. At the moment, it doesn't look like it's going to be a total wash-out the week after but you could see some wet stuff while you're there. Temperature- wise, at the moment ranging from 15-20C

Stripyhoglets ~ whereabouts are you in N.Wales this week?

ItsTheGloaming · 22/07/2018 11:37

@GloriaSmud, yes we go on the 28th for a week, don't mind it being cooler, we hope to tackle Scarfell Pike, but just pray it's not too wet!

GloriaSmud · 22/07/2018 11:55

@ItsTheGloaming ~ You'll probably be OK then. It might just be a question of dodging showers/choosing a dry day to do walking.

LuluJakey1 · 22/07/2018 16:16

It is supposed to be cloudy and 21 C here today- north-east. It was blazing sunshne when we woke up and our yarden has been 29C since about 11am. It is unbearable. Even under the trees in the shade is unbearable. We have the paddlng pool full under the trees and DH has been spraying a cold hosepipe around it. He and DS have been rolling in it in swimshorts and t shirts. DD (15m) and I are indoors with two electric fans.It is far too hot for her. It is just awful.

Loonoon · 22/07/2018 17:21

Out garden is on two levels and I have only been on the top paved level all week. I just went down to water the tubs on the lower (grass/moss) level and it is crunchy underfoot. Even the damp corner where toads sometimes lurk is dry and yellow. Hopefully they have found somewhere more congenial to wait out the drought.

Our grass is mostly like this at the moment. The lavender is looking a bit healthier today but only because I chucked some water over it last night and this morning.

A few pictures on the BBC website ~ the effect of the heatwave on the landscape.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2018 20:56

GFS is going for 37C at the beginning of August in the SE.

GloriaSmud · 22/07/2018 21:21

37?!
Shock

I'm getting that 'feeling', the same one as when we were going through this years cold weather of 'when does it end.' Similar to then, this weather was nice when it started but now it's all a bit uncomfortable and there's a 'looking for rain' search in each model run.

Delatron · 22/07/2018 21:27

Yes 37 in this country, with no aircon in houses will be horrific.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2018 21:31

It will cost lives.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2018 21:32

If it comes off of course.

ItsTheGloaming · 23/07/2018 07:10

How likely is it that it will reach 37?

SmileAndNod · 23/07/2018 07:13

But surely with the schools breaking up this week and a uk camping holiday planned it will start peeing down at 3pm on Wed?

I mowed the lawn yesterday!

Well some of it anyway. I have a huge amount of trees, my garden is more woodland than regular garden so the grass under the trees is staying a little green.

SimonBridges · 23/07/2018 07:26

37? I couldn’t tolerate that. DH bitches and moans at 25.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/07/2018 07:57

The 37C is next week (if it happens). This week many parts in the south, central and eastern parts could see 30C every day.

GloriaSmud · 23/07/2018 08:41

TheWeatherOutlook thinks this could be the hottest week of the year so far.

ParsnipsAreTheDevil · 23/07/2018 09:15

37?!?! Dear god no.

Surely it can't be safe for people to commute to work in those temperatures.

GloriaSmud · 23/07/2018 09:58

Today's thoughts from Netweather.

GloriaSmud · 23/07/2018 11:40

Metoffice have issued a Heat Health Watch ~ Level 3 for some areas from today - Friday.

Fatbelliedgirl · 23/07/2018 11:44

Metcheck were earlier today forecasting 39c for next week in my area but has now changed to 35c.

SimonBridges · 23/07/2018 12:42

Where are you FatBellie?

Fatbelliedgirl · 23/07/2018 12:54
