Warm weather coming our way

OP posts:
Delatron · 20/06/2018 18:16

A novelty!

Mogleflop · 20/06/2018 18:18

"It isn't actually that hot" has no meaning though as it's so subjective.

I find weathers around 18c and up really unpleasant - most would love up to low 30s. So I feel rubbish most years though spring, summer and early autumn while others don't notice it that much. I also don't feel like it gets properly cold with lots of snow anymore.

Probably whichever weather you hate there's too much of it though!

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 18:19

"I imagine 25 degrees feels a hell of a lot fresher in South Yorkshire than muggy London, tbf.
It’s the humidity that’s the real killer."

Yes, I agree. I don't use public transport to commute to work, and my office has aircon (which is always too cold) so I don't get to suffer the heat that commuting Londoners who work in places that don't have aircon do.

Exactly Delatron. We have had a very long winter this year. We had 3 foot snow drifts in March and sub zero temperatures that went on for ages. We didn't even have a nice autumn. We went straight from a cool summer to winter.

Mogleflop · 20/06/2018 18:20

God I need to move Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 18:25

You would love it here Mogleflop. It is cold and damp for most of the year, with very low light levels in winter.

We have enjoyed a gorgeous May this year, and June is turning out to not be too shabby either, but this is unusual.

Mogleflop · 20/06/2018 18:34

That sounds blissful. I actually really think that needs to be my life plan. I could switch with someone who hates rain!

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 18:44

I don't hate rain. I am a gardener, but damp, gloomy weather for months and months on end is utterly soul destroying - for me.

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/06/2018 18:53

I don't hate rain either, Lonicera, but agree it gets a bit wearing sometimes (& I'm in Lancs, which I suspect might be even damper & gloomier than S Yorks...!)

Our winter went on and on and on this year & then suddenly ended at the beginning of May - it was glorious, & nice weather in May is probably the best of the lot, because it never gets unbearably hot, & there are almost no bugs. And my flowers are very very happy - some sun makes such a difference. So we're already feeling we've had the best summer for years Smile

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/06/2018 18:54

I'll be staying with a friend in London the first week of July. I may be about to find out how unlovely really hot weather is away from here Grin

Delatron · 20/06/2018 18:55

So true, it's lovely to have a nice May and June for a change. I'll feel less short changed if it goes downhill from July!

SadieHH · 20/06/2018 18:59

Next week in Surrey 28, 29, 31, 30, 31... Not only do I hate the poxy heat but I get to stand in a playground with no shade from midday onwards... Yay. And I burn really badly no matter what cream I use. Double yay.

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 19:39

Starting on Sunday our forecast is: 22, 24, 24, 24, 22, 22, 23.
Perfect

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2018 19:41

Just a word of warning that those automated temperature forecasts can be pretty wrong.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 20/06/2018 19:50

My water butts are empty already and it’s not even heatwave territory yet. We have air con at home so I’m not afraid of scorching heat, bring it on 😎

DownstairsMixUp · 20/06/2018 19:54

I'm south east costal, no higher than 23 for me boo

arghghghhh · 20/06/2018 20:12

Ours is 28-30 for a full week!

Do you mean it might not happen kitten?

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2018 20:17

I imagine 25 degrees feels a hell of a lot fresher in South Yorkshire than muggy London, tbf.
It’s the humidity that’s the real killer.
Absolutely. I live in Bristol. Yesterday wasn't as warm temperature wise as it has been. But the humidity! So close it was touching Smile. That coupled with some hot flushes - I was literally mopping myself down. Today is about the same temp but a much fresher breeze. According to my car doodad it's 19 degrees right now.

Moneyissue2 · 20/06/2018 20:34

My shitty weather app told me it would be 24 degrees today, a degree higher than yesterday. As I must have lost my own body weight in sweat yesterday after rushing around at lunch time I decided to wear a super summery outfit today and froze for the entire day Angry

Thick socks vest and trousers for me now until I’m absolutely certain the heat wave has arrived.

BalthazarImpresario · 21/06/2018 19:14

I struggle to be comfortable in the heat as I'm a fattybombatty but I try to not complain because it is generally short lived and I do like it, i love proper seasons iykwim
