Warm weather coming our way

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 20/06/2018 11:04

Oogle ~ I was just thinking that it will be nice to be able to sit out in the garden next week. I'll take bets though on when we first hear, "It's tooooo hot" and "When will it cooool down."
Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2018 11:09

We are really short of rain here too. It's quite startling how dry it has been.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 20/06/2018 11:41

What are the chances of rain soon?

Oogle · 20/06/2018 11:47

Gloria It'll be lovely won't it? I reckon the "it's too hot" will start before the weekend Grin

I can't wait, I'm already tempted to take a chance on the forecast and arrange a bbq for next week.

OYBBK Did I hear that it was the dryest and warmest May on record? Do you think June will be heading the same way?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2018 12:16

oogle, it was the warmest and sunniest May on record. I'm not sure about June yet.

Rainwise, while we may have sudden downpours and storms if instability creeps in, it will very much be a hit or miss affair.

LighthouseSouth · 20/06/2018 12:19

Hi Kitten
I was about to start another thread, also wondered why people were being mean to the OP

I'm seeing official forecasts of about 27 in London from Tuesday for about a week, but unofficial forecasts going higher. Do you have any thoughts for London? I should probably get some long Tube journey visits done this weekend rather than next weekend I think! Thank you.

Ifailed · 20/06/2018 12:30

I reckon the "it's too hot" will start before the weekend

True, rapidly followed be people looking forward to Autumn so they can wear ankle boots and woolly jumpers (apparently illegal to wear before october) and 'snuggling up' on the sofa. The last thing I want is a snotty-nosed individual coughing and sneezing next to me on a sofa.

Mogleflop · 20/06/2018 12:31

I'm already finding it too warm.

My dream is to move to somewhere snowy all year round!

So just to get it started, bring on snivelling autumn. Grin

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/06/2018 12:44

Just seen this on FB
30+ in lots of places including where I am

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/06/2018 12:46

Maybe you really shouldn't of bothered, op. You're extremely rude...

Delatron · 20/06/2018 12:47

The it's 'too hot' moaning is imminent. I love a heatwave, oh to sit outside and eat and enjoy the lovely weather. It never lasts that long in this country. I predict, like last year, the weather will turn just as the schools break up and we'll all have our heating on
in August. Fear not cold lovers!

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/06/2018 13:06

Incidentally we’ve had 2 or 3 satisfying downpours here over the last week or so. Sometimes soggy Lancashire has its uses Grin

All my plants are in pots (small concrete back yard), & so are my neighbour’s, & she’s just gone on holiday for 3 weeks leaving me in charge - I’m going to be very busy!

GloriaSmud · 20/06/2018 13:36

Delatron ~ Well it is the summer solstice tomorrow and then the nights will start drawing in.

Soon be Christmas!
Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 13:45

The heat haters never seem to understand the irony of loving boots/jumpers/snuggling in cold weather. They are the ones who hate feeling hot!

So why do they extol the virtues of said articles of clothing if they never feel the cold?

We have a maximum of 24 degrees forecasted for here next week, which, IMO, is perfect - not too hot and not too cold.

Delatron · 20/06/2018 14:21

😁 Gloria Not too long until the sofa snugglers will be happy under their blankets!

My highly inacurate phone weather app
says 31 for us next week here in the SE. Be interesting to see what the temperature gets up to and when it breaks.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/06/2018 14:35

I'm a heat hater. I don't understand the thrill of getting into a big wooly jumper and a pair of boots either Confused. I just want it to be nice and cool.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2018 14:46

I love summer evenings - sitting outside slapping away insects just enjoying the night air.

I never really make the most of it.,I resolve to do so next week, especially with my wifi working outside Grin

Elementtree · 20/06/2018 14:52

Oh, looks like there is warm weather everywhere. Brilliant. That's really cheered me up.

Mogleflop · 20/06/2018 14:59

Every year people here get really insulting about others who don't like heat. It's weird - no one has control over the weather so you're not going to miss out by someone else liking something different from you.

Just ignore us/them (like I do all the weirdos who get happy in heatwaves) Grin (we need an opposite of bah humbug)

LighthouseSouth · 20/06/2018 15:08

Anyone else got an AC/DC earworm? Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 20/06/2018 17:50

Ooh. I don't know whether to laugh or cry Confused. I enjoy the lovely warm weather and light evenings BUT not when I'm working Sad. I'm struggling a bit now. I may keel over next week Grin.

Sandsnake · 20/06/2018 18:01

I’m going with my first ‘it’s too hot’ by the weekend followed by a ‘that was our summer then’ at the first sign of rain / cooling.

LoniceraJaponica · 20/06/2018 18:10

"Every year people here get really insulting about others who don't like heat."

I think it is because:

  1. It isn't actually that hot
  2. The person having a go at the heat hater doesn't live in London or the South East and isn't having hot weather where they live
  3. We very rarely get hot weather, and the heat haters get the weather they enjoy for most of the year

It has been a pleasant 19 degrees here in South Yorkshire today.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/06/2018 18:13

I imagine 25 degrees feels a hell of a lot fresher in South Yorkshire than muggy London, tbf.
It’s the humidity that’s the real killer.

Delatron · 20/06/2018 18:16

I think, even if you hate the heat and are suffering, it's short lived. A week or two at the most. It's the UK. It's a nicely!

Remember the snow in March and the endless, cold winter? Plus the rubbish July and August last year. Plus the dire weather at Easter. I could go on, but I won't!!
