Got to start small (with those ambitions!)

Another dull day here ~ misty, occasional showers and a chilly 6C.
Noticed there's a rain weather warning for the SW for this afternoon that's been issued by the metoffice.

It is so cloudy today. I am wondering if we will experience mizzle later. The metoffice suggests we will escape the rain completely but mizzle goes undetected. Smile bit chilly too!

Some thoughts on the weekend and next week's weather here and here.

After some rain here this morning, it's looking quite bright here and looks like the sun just might even come out at some point if the clouds clear a bit.

I saw some hazy sunshine for about 30 seconds this afternoon when the sun broke through the clouds. The solar pond fountain leapt into life...then that was it. But hopefully more to come after the weekend and the metoffice outlook seems to think temperatures are going in the right direction at last.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunday will bring a mixture of sunshine and showers with fresher winds in the West. Monday and Tuesday look mainly dry and bright, but windy further west with rain later.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 18 Apr 2018 to Friday 27 Apr 2018:
Through the end of next week the weather will be mainly settled, with many areas seeing plenty of sunshine. There may be some mist or fog around during the early morning, but this will clear quickly. Eastern areas will benefit from the driest weather and temperatures here could be rather warm at times. Western areas however could turn wetter and windier at the weekend with temperatures closer to the average for the time of year. As we head through the week after next, there is perhaps a small chance of some unsettled conditions with rain and showers, although it is more likely we will see largely fine, dry and settled weather with temperatures likely to be above average for the time of year.

Saturday was glorious up north, 16c and sunshine to ride the horse in - finally!
I wasn't born in 1976 Blush but it's a legend in our family. As the time my dad had a strop about the heat, marched outside and slept in the garden for several nights

GloriaSmud · 17/04/2018 20:02

So a taste of summer starts tomorrow for a few days Grin
Possible maximum temperatures for 3pm Thursday..

I got my winter coat back out this afternoon. Heatwave my arse!

Will it just be in the south east like usual?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2018 20:48

Today was rubbish! I turned off my heating on Monday declaring winter was over. I've been cold all day today.

GloriaSmud · 17/04/2018 21:08

Yes it's hard to believe after today's weather, that the next few days are supposed to be something like summer!

It’s still grey here...what time is the sunshine booked for? GrinHmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/04/2018 07:10

lol! Roughly where are you Beaverhausen?

SisterFrancisBeaverhausen · 18/04/2018 08:19

Swansea

The met office informs me it’ll be sunny by lunchtime. I’ll believe it when I see it!

SisterFrancisBeaverhausen · 18/04/2018 08:20

We missed out on the snow too, will we also miss out on summer? Sad

applelolly · 18/04/2018 08:28

still grey here in south yorkshire. I've shaved my legs and painted my toenails ready for the summer today....suspect I may have wasted my time LOL
Remaining vaguely hopeful the cloud will lift to reveal a gloriously sunny afternoon Hmm

Gertrudethestag · 18/04/2018 08:29

It's really sunny here Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/04/2018 09:05

It might be taking its time, but by tomorrow everyone should have seen some sunshine. Hopefully for Wales, by mid afternoon.

It doesn't last long though, by Monday it cools down again. With potential for some thunderstorms in the east.

Gertrudethestag · 18/04/2018 10:03

Next week is going to be soggy and cold again Sad or as the cornish say "murk n mizzle"

GloriaSmud · 18/04/2018 10:08

Sun has broken through here (Leicester) and it's a warm 18.4C

Blue skies, blue skies! I am a little bit excited Grin

Is it too early to predict the May bank holiday OYBBK? We are camping in Snowdonia and have outside activities planned

magimedi · 18/04/2018 14:00

19.5C here - am in a denim skirt, T shirt & sandals.

Bliss..........................

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/04/2018 14:05

Bit too early Beaverhausen, at the moment, I'm hopeful there will be an improvement again by early May, but confidence is extremely low.

SisterFrancisBeaverhausen · 18/04/2018 18:23

Thank you. After the damp squib that was Easter weekend I could do with some sun

Perihelion · 18/04/2018 23:59

I've just walked home from work, at 11pm, in Edinburgh, in a long sleeved t shirt Shock and I was still a bit warm. It smells like summer. Currently 15C.
2 weeks ago I posted on the snow watch thread......I've got the hump, it's too hot for my winter coat Angry

In pond related news, a huge blob of frog spawn has appeared overnight in my classy washing up bowl pond and I spotted a newt for the first time. Am considering making a proper pond.......( Off to Google solar pond fountains )

GloriaSmud · 19/04/2018 09:19

Perihelion ~ my pond along with solar fountain (you can just see the solar panel for it in the background.) The fountain, along with everthing else for building the pond came from here.

'Tis lovely here today ~ a warm 20C already.

fun Peri!

Does the solar fountain bit help with pond health? We have a little nature pond. It's full of tadpoles at different stages. Somehow the frogspawn survived the second biggish freeze.
