Some early thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook here.

In the meantime, I would like it to Stop.Raining.Now There are a couple of rain weather warnings for today.

Temperatures look suppressed at least into the beginning of May.

Gertrudethestag · 23/04/2018 15:03

Shock that really surprises me! I swapped all the duvets and put the thick coats away... Humph!!

GloriaSmud · 23/04/2018 16:19

The fall in temperatures is all my fault. I said to DH after we'd finished putting our potatoes in at the allotment on Saturday, that I hoped they wouldn't poke through and frost get to them. I then asked/said, 'we don't get many frosts at this time of year, do we?' He laughed at me.

Gloria Grin haha!

I was planning on fixing the garden up. All the dried out lawn has turned to mud again Grin maybe next month it'll be nice...

beenrumbled · 25/04/2018 08:53

Cricket season is upon the Manky household.

Unfortunately due to the rubbish weather we are also still in football season. DS1 is having to make choices every week about what to turn up to/take part in. He is not a happy Manky.

1st cricket match of his under 18 league tonight, after yesterdays rain I'm not convinced it will be on. And its drizzling now!

It's not cold though.

Delatron · 25/04/2018 21:09

I'm hearing rumours (mainly from the trashy papers) it will warm up mid May. Fingers crossed, looks so cold this weekend!

GloriaSmud · 26/04/2018 06:29

I don't know, Delatron ~ looks like the metoffice are 'covering all bases' with their latest Outlook into next month..

UK Outlook for Monday 30 Apr 2018 to Wednesday 9 May 2018:
Northern and western parts of the UK are likely to be mainly dry and bright on Monday, apart from the odd shower. In the south and east significant rainfall is possible accompanied by stronger winds. However, there is uncertainty about the time and place of the heavy rain and some areas could get a sunny day. Temperatures will be a little below average and cold enough for a slight overnight frost in the north and north-west. Changeable weather will continue during the first few days of May with brisk winds and spells of rain at times, but a few drier and sunnier spells too. Temperatures will tend to recover to near normal but at times it will feel colder, so overnight frost in the north remains possible.

UK Outlook for Thursday 10 May 2018 to Thursday 24 May 2018:
A dry and bright spell of weather with light winds may develop at the start of this period especially in the north, bringing slightly above-average temperatures. However, confidence in this aspect of the forecast is low. Mixed weather with showers or longer periods of rain remain possible. In fact, there is a signal for a greater number of heavy showers than usual in the south, perhaps including thunder at times. Where the weather does becomes wet and windy, temperatures will drop down to average or a little below.

Thanks Gloria. I do love their mixed forecasts basically 'it may be dry and bright and warm but then again it may be heavy showers and cool*!

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Loved the brief taste of summer we had last week.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/04/2018 08:30

Sounds like there is plenty of potential for convection. Storm watching here we come?

GloriaSmud · 26/04/2018 09:43

Yes Delatron, I like that too! They did a similar Outlook for a few weeks of the winter a few years ago but that was 'well it might snow but then again, it might not and it'll rain instead.'

Ooo yes, OYBBK ~ would like a bit more of that. I quite enjoyed being on the 'stormwatching' thread last weekend.

. I'd like some hot weather this year. I didn't get to enjoy last years heatwave much as I was in the 3rd trimester, then when the bump became a baby it promptly cooled down & started raining Angry

Gertrudethestag · 26/04/2018 16:33

Our local news are banging on about a heatwave next week. But it looks like it'll be about 11c Grin

GloriaSmud · 26/04/2018 21:12

Gertrude ~ yes 11C does count as a heatwave after the last few months! Grin
It looks at the moment like it might warm up towards the end of next week/the weekend.

I hope so Gloria - we are camping next weekend!

I’m sick of temperatures barely reaching double figures when it’s nearly May, it’s just so depressingSad

GloriaSmud · 27/04/2018 11:29

I know SisterFrancis ~ DD3 is camping with her Rangers group tomorrow night and I'm sending her off with lots of woolies and blankets!

I am liking the look of the forecast for next weekend. Hoping it materialises and we see the back of this cold and rain.

applelolly · 01/05/2018 06:37

of course it will be sunny and warm next Sunday - I am running a 10k road race and I can NOT run in the heat (well any sign of sun or double figures really!) The ONLY day in the whole year when I needed it to be cool and grey - so warmth and sunshine almost guaranteed!!

GloriaSmud · 01/05/2018 18:48

Applelolly ~ It does look like it's going to be rather warm (for running)
Netweather's max temperatures for midday Sunday.

oh no gloria So typical!! I have been desperate for some decent weather, just NOT ON SUNDAY!! Here's hoping they have plenty of water stations!

GloriaSmud · 03/05/2018 08:58

Still looking good for the weekend/Bank Holiday.
Netweather's max temperatures for 3pm Sunday (sorry applelolly ~ 'tis still looking rather warm)

Incredible thunderstorm, North Downs, Kent - have never experienced anything like this before - continuous sheet lightening and thunder

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/06/2018 09:00

It's looking like a prolonged hot spell at present. There's the possibility of a breakdown early July, but there's also the possibility that there won't be.
