Another heatwave due?

Does anyone know whether we're getting another heatwave after this rain? A friend has said that we're having mega hot weather until September after this spell of wet weather.

I understand Slim, my DD lives in Switzerland and they are currently experiencing v hot weather, though fairly normal for them. 40c+ during say and rarely under 25c at night. She's in a south facing flat, but they do have a balcony with a large door, which helps a bit. But laws there forbid domestic air con, so she finds it tough. Sorry I can't offer any other suggestions. I think the weather is due to change soon.

Slimthistime · 07/07/2017 18:13

Oh Machine I do feel for her
I wonder why they wont allow it
We were sent home early but Tube still boiling

Weather forecast keeps on updating so I'm not sure heat will break at weekend actually
My parents are from a hot country and they are really struggling

Their house is normally quite cool but not now, must be something to do with so many unusually hot days in a row

I'm about to lie down with one of those migraine cooling strips on my head
Tomorrow I plan to be up early and stick some blackout fabric to the outside of the balcony window, I'm going to just leave it there till the end of summer

During the heatwave I took it down to get some light and then kept getting on the ladder to pop it back up. I'm past caring about light, such a small flat it makes very little difference which room I'm in anyway.

I haven't been running for days, I need to go but I just can't face running in a sauna!!

MachineBee · 07/07/2017 20:02

Slim I feel your pain re not feeling like any sort of activity.

The reason for no domestic air con is down to Switzerland's strict green policies, I think.

DDs very busy and finding time to visit her when she's around and the temp isn't meltingly high means I often end seeing her in November and March.

Trouble is this is when they 'change the scenery'. It rains A LOT! Just as I'm leaving the country the snow appears/disappears on the mountains. Grin.

I hate all these threads complainign about the heat. Kids have already been on holiday for a week and its been grey and rainy every day here in Scotland. No trips out, no sitting in the garden...its shit. I would kill for some sunshine and warmth

lieka · 07/07/2017 20:33

So ignore them dementedma. There are hundreds of threads I ignore or hide all the time. You don't need to read or engage with them! But other people are allowed their opinions too.

dementedma · 07/07/2017 20:50

Well of course they are! Hmm
And I'm allowed mine.

lieka · 07/07/2017 21:05

But you say you really hate them. Why not just ignore them? I'm honestly not being goady, why even bring that negativity into your day?

Slimthistime · 07/07/2017 21:25

Machine, it's also a bad idea with heat, pollution and asthma.

But guess what.....there is cool air coming through the window now!

Demented if we'd known we really could have done a house swap, your kids could have enjoyed London before all the other kids go on school hols! I must book some time in Scottish greenery and scenery, woukd do me good.

MintToBee · 08/07/2017 10:29

It's another shite cold day in Scotland. It's giving me the rage knowing that it's beautiful elsewhere.
Wish I'd never heard of Scotland.
Flounces off grumbling to self and hides thread

It's another day of wrong weather forecast here
They said cloudy, max 21
Sunny, I'd guess we will hit 25 at least in the afternoon

Hulababy · 08/07/2017 15:22

Underestimated weather here too. Forecast was 18, still says the same. It is much warmer, and not overcast at all (also forecast.)

AnyFucker · 08/07/2017 15:35

Perfect day today.

Hot sun, cool breeze, cloud floating around to block out the heat every few minutes. I am sipping a Crabbies with ice in the garden with my bikini on.

Slimthistime · 08/07/2017 18:01

I just got back from a friend's house, she is worse than me for being permanently freezing (another one with low blood pressure) and even she's moaning.

Got some friends in the Midlands who went to an event with all the wrong stuff because no sun forecast there either and it's very hot there apparently.

So is our clever Kitten around to tell us the right forecast? No pressure Grin

Slimthistime · 08/07/2017 18:04

My afternoon prediction for 25 was wrong I think
I have a feeling it's maybe 28?
The other day they said on the news that the actual had hit 32 and that they hadn't expected that.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 08/07/2017 18:13

They were wrong here too today. It was meant to be cloudy all day and around 21. It's been sunny with a few clouds and very hot. Have been gardening all day, off for a shower and then pimms and a curry in the garden. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/07/2017 18:56

It was warmer than forecast here in the south East for sure! Sunnier than expected. Cooked my brains a bit. Oops!

lieka · 09/07/2017 15:25

The Met office says it's 24 here today; our thermometer outside in shade says 27, the car said 28 (though I'm never sure about the car thermometer, surely those get heated by the car/engine/roads?)

Either way - I'm suffering today. Urgh....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/07/2017 15:59

tomorrow looks a little cooler and tuesday cooler still, perhaps with some rain.

Potentially thunderstormy tomorrow afternoon in the SE

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 09/07/2017 16:18

Same here lieka. Again the forecast said cloud all day. It's been beautiful blue sky and it's very hot!

dementedma · 09/07/2017 16:59

Usual here in Scotland - cold, grey and raining.
Am wearing fleecy pj bottoms, thick socks and a sweatshirt....

Slimthistime · 09/07/2017 19:18

Three hours on Tube today (round trip to olds)
Sounds like those on Tube, as well as sister, friends, neighbours, (anyone living on a small flat basically) have all given up on forecast as it has now been crazy wrong for two weeks, we will just cry with relief when heat and humidity goes but no longer holding out hope for it.

Stupidest thing is last week at work was quiet, I could have taken time off at short notice and gone to Scotland! Might have just been cheaper to find a local hotel with air con though....

gttia · 10/07/2017 13:46

Are we really forecast a killer heat wave or is this speculation? Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/07/2017 13:57

speculation, founded in no facts. Although the met office are saying it is more likely to be warmer than average rather than colder than average seasonal forecast

Slimthistime · 10/07/2017 20:28

Gttia, have you heard something new about another heatwave?

MintToBee · 10/07/2017 20:55

What about Scotland? Are we doomed to be experiencing winter still for July/August or are we going to be allowed some heat?
