Heatwave in London

Wonder if any knowledgeable folk are about
Is the heatwave in London really not breaking till the weekend?
Before anyone tells me off, the office is boiling, Tube is boiling, flat is boiling. I think there's been 17 days this year already where the flat has been 28 at night. It feels a bit much. I was just really hoping thy might be wrong about it being all week. This big block of flats kind of accumulates heat as well.

Last year we had a frost in May, it does feel unusual this year and the effect on my asthma is not helping.

OYBBK no, they are wrong. It is going to rain overnight because I have left my work clothes that I need out on the line.

beepbeepimasheep · 20/06/2017 22:46

Many a true word said in jest...i just checked the weather forecast and it's supposed to be 30 here and raining all day tomorrow with thunderstorms...best go and get the stuff in.
Bugger.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2017 22:55

oh no!

Slimthistime · 20/06/2017 23:52

it's got 3.5C cooler in the flat than last night - result!!

but yes, it does puzzle me in the context of what's expected tomorrow.

OBBYK - 5 miles - bus an option? I do find that a bit better than Tube but I have a lot more than 5 miles so while I do use it sometimes, it depends on times etc.

Cooler last night, I managed without the fan. Much cooler this morning with a breeze but still forecast as 30 degrees later but tomorrow only 20 ( hooray!!!)

Lottapianos · 21/06/2017 07:50

So much cooler last night. Managed to sleep under the duvet, with windows open. Today should be the last day of misery thankfully

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/06/2017 08:00

It may still reach the high 20s tomorrow in the SE.

It's possible today that we may have the hottest June day since 1976.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/06/2017 08:03

I'm on Piccadilly & it's quite nice right now. Gentle breeze.

Not looking forward to later though.

SquirmOfEels · 21/06/2017 08:07

Forecast for London for later today is hot (34?) with high pollen and high pollution levels.

Thunderstorms might turn up tomorrow, but not sure if London's in the main path (IYSWIM) but it should get cooler.

Happy Solstice!

RatOnnaStick · 21/06/2017 09:41

Kitten, are we looking at possible thunderstorms tomorrow in SE? Its DS's sports day afternoon. It got rained off last year.

Slimthistime · 21/06/2017 11:28

OMD I can't wait for this to be over
the office actually smells bad. LIke musty. Ergh.

And I feel sleepy all the time (during the day) like I'm about to nod off. no idea how will get work done - office temp 32 already.

Are we looking at possible thunderstorms tomorrow in SE?

The Met Office are saying precipitation probability for tomorrow afternoon is

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 21/06/2017 12:21

dh and I went down at the weekend, thought we had been a bit smart as last year we went in August, 34C...god alone knows what the "real feel" was, so we thought we could just revel in the early/mid 20s temps what with being from Scotland and only imagining summer in the garden with our coats off

ANYWAY it was just as bad this time....looked at my phone early evening and it had a "real feel of 33C" so how I managed earlier in the day is beyond me!

We have sworn off London from May to September, henceforth.

Slimthistime · 21/06/2017 13:18

my brain has packed up.

I'm slightly annoyed as there's a bunch of stuff I'd like to finish today - admittedly before the deadline - but I have a way of working and I don't think I will be able to do much sensible work rest of day.

Met office have severe weather warnings for tomorrow in relation to storms. Can't post a link at the moment.

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 16:20

Here is the link www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings

In London & SE England yellow warning of rain in effect from 06:00 until 13:00 on Thursday.

Maudlinmaud · 21/06/2017 16:27

I feel for those of you who've had to suffer the hot weather. It reached 24 here and that was uncomfortable. We've just had a huge downpour and sky is dark with rumbling thunder. I'm not a storm person and my migraines are horrific in high pressure. I find neproxen works. Hopefully this clears the air a bit.

elQuintoConyo · 21/06/2017 16:29

Uh-oh! I'm flying into Stansted tomorrow and have to go through London to catch a South-east train. I have a 5.5yo. And hand luggage. How hideous is it going to be? And what time does rush hour stop? I haven't been to London in a million years and am clueless Grin

And... If anyone knows anywhere me and DS can chill out close to St Pancake Pancras until rush hour has died down, please let me know.

We're flying in from scorchio Spain so we're used to the heat, but humid heat with a bit of breeze.

Break it to me gently Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/06/2017 16:50

Thanks Hippy!

Elquint, should be a bit cooler, but potentially stormy.

RatOnnaStick · 21/06/2017 17:08

I was right then. I hope any thundery showers come through quickly and clear out of the way before sports day.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/06/2017 17:42

Quinto, things should start calming down around 7. There are a couple of McDonalds close by if that'll do?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/06/2017 17:43

And depending on what time you're arriving, the Wellcome Collection is nearby, child-friendly and open until 6.

GloriaSmud · 21/06/2017 18:03

Today has been the hottest June day since 1976

Car temperature gauge (which I know isn't very reliable) said it was 31C at 3.30pm here (Leicester) Hoping for a storm tonight.

Slimthistime · 21/06/2017 18:23

Starting to feel dizzy and nauseous. Sad
