Very very early days but the latest gfs has a little low pressure that might cause some autumnal gales. Will keep you posted.

Blustery at times and lots more leaves blown off the trees but no damage on dog walk or in my garden.

kippersmum · 21/10/2014 09:06

Windy here in IOM, gusts of 70mph in the local forecast for today, but bright & sunny at the moment. Think I'm in for a breezy dog walk :)

fatsatsuma · 21/10/2014 09:35

OYBBK, we're on the north Norfolk coast and it's pretty wild here already. Is it going to get worse later??

OldNickFallenAngel · 21/10/2014 09:44

We've got sunshine and a breeze here followed by a quick shower. Not as bad as I was expecting.

incogKNEEto · 21/10/2014 10:37

South Norfolk here, blustery wind but no big gusts as yet, the rain has just started in earnest though!

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 21/10/2014 10:41

West yorkshire here. Very windy all morning, spots of torrential rain, 2trees blown over on my street! Got a council van of men here cutting them up to clear the paths. Seems to be calming down at the minute though.

FelixFelix · 21/10/2014 10:42

I'm in leeds and it's very windy and peeing it down at the moment.

digerd · 21/10/2014 11:13

S.Herts
More sun but more intense gusts.
Also wind has changed from SW to NW.
Forecast just now is for the gusts to increase in speed this afternoon and the NW breezes will make it feel somewhat colder.

ouryve · 21/10/2014 11:29

I had to sweep a small swimming pool out of my back yard, this morning, but it's otherwise bright and incredibly breezy. Just answered the front door for a delivery and it almost blew open into my face!

SpanielofDoom · 21/10/2014 11:33

It's weird here. Cheshire, south.
It started off very gusty and rainy at around 6am. Then it's been quiet for the last couple of hours, which really does feel like the calm before the storm because I have a feeling there's worse to come. It's been a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers.
As I said, I feel like it's going to get worse.

glenthebattleostrich · 21/10/2014 11:33

West Yorkshire too, very heavy rain at mo with fairly strong wind.

Finally feels like autumn!

GloriaSmud · 21/10/2014 11:38

Just in the middle of a very blustery shower at the moment. 'Tis interesting watching the weather come from the land direction (N) and move out to sea - am used to being at the seaside and watching the weather come off the sea.

JerseySpud · 21/10/2014 11:40

Nowhere seems to cover us. How is it looking for the Channel Islands

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 12:04

Just got in from work - thought it was a bit gusty cycling home. Turns out its gusting to 45mph here.

Jersey, you should be ok.

still not too bad max gusts wise elsewhere - 70mph off the west coast by Whitehaven.

Met office have updated their warning to cover entire uk

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 12:06

fatsatsuma - yes, I expect it to pick up a little more.

Looking at the radar wondering if some of the showers will become hail as they go through Lincolnshire this afternoon.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 12:17

discovered the issue with heathrow because it seems massively overcautious to cancel flights in advance, when other airports havent felt the need to - its because they are running at capacity and they need to allow more space between the planes as they land.

SpanielofDoom · 21/10/2014 12:35

I think my suspicions were correct, it's definitely getting more gusty here now. No rain though.

NannyOggsCat · 21/10/2014 12:38

West Yorkshire here too, really strong winds and bouts of heavy rain.. There seems to be half a forest in my garden and the house is getting walloped by flying twigs and broken branches.... And what appears to be someone's washing as a pair of knickers just flew by the window Hmm

fatsatsuma · 21/10/2014 12:46

Just had something very hurricane-like here! Horizontal rain, zero visibility, massive gusts of wind . Only lasted a few mins but was quite dramatic.

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 21/10/2014 12:57

Central SE here. It's certainly gusting Grin The whirly gig is threatening to take off! Lovely and sunny here now though. Ideal day for doing laundry, just a shame everything in the house is washed - typical Grin

Hope everyone's OK!

BlackeyedSusan · 21/10/2014 13:08

W Mids blustery and cloudy with sunny spells. have missed the showers so far.

SpanielofDoom · 21/10/2014 13:33

Definitely getting worse here. I'm rural and I'm likely to lose power if it continues. I have my little battery radio ready. Halloween Grin Won't have phone or internet as I have no mobile signal at home.

SpanielofDoom · 21/10/2014 13:34

My whirly gig is in the garage, Chilling. Had a close call with it in the north west hurricane of February 2014, not taking any more chances!

OneSkinnyChip · 21/10/2014 13:34

Very wild here last night and still huge gusts today.
