Very very early days but the latest gfs has a little low pressure that might cause some autumnal gales. Will keep you posted.

Wind picking up already here in Fife, strong to gale force forecast today Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2014 09:01

It's a different weather system I'm afraid.

updated warnings

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2014 14:41

I think there will be some disruption from this, particularly tomorrow morning when travel could be difficult. Please plan accordingly.

Strongest winds look to be round coastal areas along Wales and then through Scotland. However gales inland too. Its not an unusual storm - we saw plenty of similar strength and rather stronger last winter - but it is the first of the season, there are lots of trees still in leaf and there will be trees down from this.

little bit of a bump mostly because I know some news sources are overegging this depression.

Signing in (on holiday) from a static caravan near Sidmouth. We're not covered by the weather warnings but as we're right on the coast, think we're in for a bit of a wet and windy night!

Spooklingbrook · 20/10/2014 20:17

Gloria be careful out there.

It's bin day here tomorrow. the wheelies will be chucking themselves under cars like last time. Sad

ChippingInLatteLover · 20/10/2014 20:20

BuMpItY BuMp...

Hope everyone stays safe x

Spooklingbrook · 20/10/2014 20:21

DS1 is worried for Sparklingcat's safety. I have said she shouldn't blow away I wouldn't mind but DS1 is 15. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2014 20:46

I reckon if sparkling at made it through last winter ok she'll be fine this time round :)

OP posts:
Spooklingbrook · 20/10/2014 20:49

YY, I think she's safe. She will be out there chasing leaves as normal.

NickAngel · 20/10/2014 21:04

Evening- just been thinking about OYBBK as weather is forecast for the heavy rains and wind around 3am here. We're in yellow zone on metoffice website.
Wanted to check what is really likely to happen by seeing what OYBBK was seeing in the models.
Will be fetching torches upstairs before we turn in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2014 21:07

Sensible to be prepared for a few issues, no need to be worried :)

OP posts:
OldNickFallenAngel · 20/10/2014 21:16

Thanks, just being prepared.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/10/2014 23:23

oh fabulous. (please let sod and his law tootle off. just sorted out the loft intime for it all to be blown away)

shall take the lamp to bed.

trees must not come down in the week they are doing stickers for early birds. grrr

Perihelion · 20/10/2014 23:58

Wind starting to pick up a bit in Edinburgh. It's going to be chilly tomorrow, as the wind direction for us is going to be North Westerly....and snow over the hills. Think the wind warning should/will be upgraded to Amber for NE Scotland tomorrow.

The weather fairy has been lovely to the school holidays here. Great summer and mainly dry for our holiday last week. They're back to school tomorrow Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 07:30

So how's it all going this morning? Seems to be some disruption to flights at heathrow despite the winds not being overly strong there.

VileStatistyx · 21/10/2014 07:44

I left my window a bit open last night and woke up to such gales! I thought it was going to get ripped off! (obviously I closed it!) I can hear the wind even now though, through the closed windows. And my neighbour's tree is bending. Ok, it's one of those with a very thin truck but still!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 07:48

Here in the south it's just a little gusty. Highest gusts in the UK are presently off the welsh coast at 60mph and a 72 off Northern Ireland.
I expect these gust speeds to rise a little and to transfer across eastwards. The east coast around Yorkshire through to the Wash could get pretty lively this afternoon.

GloriaSmud · 21/10/2014 07:49

'Tis blustery and having torrential rain atm but otherwise not too bad here. Caravan's creaking when the wind blows in a certain direction but that's about all to report so far!

Perihelion · 21/10/2014 07:55

Gusts of approx 50mph, no rain so far.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/10/2014 07:59

Glad to see you are still with us Gloria!
