Keeping a weather eye on Monday/Tuesday

Very very early days but the latest gfs has a little low pressure that might cause some autumnal gales. Will keep you posted.

The EC and UK models have that low tracking further north and less intense.

Latest UK Met Office forecast now looks more like the US GFS. It's possible that the Met Office will put out a warning later today so that people know something is possible before they leave work for the weekend.

The GFS is less developmental on the 00z run and it looks like an open wave by the time it hits our shores. (Ie disturbed weather but not stormy) so it's a keep an eye on it scenario - UKMO is coming up with an 'entire grid undefined' for me this am - not so helpful!

I've sorted batteries and candles for the winter.

Actually Maplins have some fab little led lights that although aren't massively bright will be really good for navigating a dark house in a powercut.

They look fab OYBBK and probably less ££ than batteries for the big torch.

Forgot to say - they came with batteries. Rather good value.

They won't see you as far as a big torch but you can just leave them in place. :) we've already had one powercut this autumn - no weather involved just shit local electrics.

We each have a torch next to our beds, one each in our study next to computers & one each next to our chairs in the sitting room.

We are older & don't want to fall over groping in the dark for lights.

Gazebo ought to come down, it's knackered from UV and only fit got the skip, bits still a pain untangling them from the swing frame. (This has happened more than once).

14ft trampoline weighs a ton. It's never shifted, (and it was very windy here last year). It's 10ft predecessor had sacks of sand on it's legs, as it did lift pretty easily.

And please Bad Kitten tell it not to rain so much this year. I don't want the Seven and it's tributaries all over the roads and the poor souls on the way to Cheltenham don't need their houses underwater ever again.

I don't think I could face another winter like last year again. The rain went on forever.

So do we know what the snowcast is for this winter yet?

I don't do long term forecasting but the met office contingency planning says that it is most likely to be a milder and wetter 3 months through December than the average.

We're not in the yellow zone, but tomorrow might be a good day to winterproof the garden.
