OYBBK

Central London is fine, just txt a friend on nightshift in W1.

Slushy but slippery pavements and easily passable with good footwear.

Open top tour buses are still going !

Trains running but likely to be v delayed.

TheSkiingGardener · 20/01/2013 21:50

What a difference. Have left very snowy Bromley behind to come back to virtually all the snow gone in Southampton. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Only damage seen so far is one of my flowerpots has exploded and shot cyclamen a good foot and a half over the front step.

mankyscotslass · 20/01/2013 22:00

Snow! Grin It's lying too, though I am not convinced that it will last. But it's proper snow. Grin Grin

leesmum · 20/01/2013 22:11

Manky coming down quite heavy here now....excited!!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 22:18

Thank you so much shattered :) that was really kind of you.

Edam, maybe some snow showers building up by mid afternoon or evening. At the moment not looking too dramatic.

Manky that's brilliant! It's made it over :)

Very disappointing in Co. Durham - was supposed to start @ 6.00 pm - now coming through the night instead - hopefully.

MirandaWest · 20/01/2013 22:20

Nothing near York.....yet

redwellybluewelly · 20/01/2013 22:22

I'd say a good 2 inches just north of Norwich - but incredibly fine sparkly powdery snow, our road is white side to side. Still coming down very lightly but determinedly.

Shattereddreams · 20/01/2013 22:24

Hey it's not as if you don't deserve it OYBBK. you helped me last summer with DS bday party. Wink

Pan · 20/01/2013 22:24

Bloody hell manky! It is isn't it. May postpone the cycling for tomorrow. Damn. It's heavy and sticking.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 20/01/2013 22:27

Not even a hint of it here.

Hello snowflake :)

Chipping, some chance for Tuesday/wednesday met office aren't really going for it at the moment, but got my eye on a low pressure pushing up from the sw that might affect your area.

wewereherefirst · 20/01/2013 22:33

Any slight possibility of snow in south Devon please?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 22:33

Oh and maybe tomorrow evening Hmm not sure where that popped from! Will check properly in the morning before work.

Chipping It's not as messy as you might think - but wear rubber gloves when removing the balloon the next day from the ice!

Shattereddreams Overnight temperatures will turn that slush to treacherous ice & crud that you really don't want to walk on though.

LottieJenkins · 20/01/2013 22:39

Still snowing here on Norfolk/Suffolk border, i have been out and swept my path so i can see how much we have had in the morning!!!!

greenplastictrees · 20/01/2013 22:39

We've been in central London today. When we left at about 6pm, the area around parliament and on Westminster Bridge in particular had a lot of compacted snow and was a little slippy but not too bad. A few other places were a bit slushy. I was pleased to have my wellies on but would have been OK without them as well. There was snow on the pavements down the mall but it was lovely powdery stuff and easy to walk in. It was a lovely day to be out and about actually.

thenightsky · 20/01/2013 22:46

Local weather said we were in for loads tonight... now its raining and what is on the ground is melting fast Sad

(north Lincolnshire)

edam · 20/01/2013 22:50

Thanks OYBK. Was kind of hoping for sufficient disruption in the morning to make my train journey to work 'unnecessary' in the travel warning sense. Grin

WhispersOfWickedness · 20/01/2013 22:58

I'm in north lincs too, thenightsky, I've not looked out since about 10pm when it was definitely snowing ConfusedI'm on a hill in the wolds, so wonder if it is holding up as snow. Dammit, I'm going to have to go and look now Grin

WhispersOfWickedness · 20/01/2013 23:00

Definitely snow out there! Are you lower than us, thenightsky, or more coastal maybe?

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 20/01/2013 23:00

LemonMousse am also in Co Durham, have been in a similar state of expectation as you which seems to have stopped me doing anything much except MN and telly

thenightsky · 20/01/2013 23:13

Whispers I'm in a village quite near Caenby Corner - half way between Gainsborough and Market Rasen.

Where are you approx?
