I think Im just out of the Amber area where I am.

Though Met office do have heavy snow forecast for us over night. Im in two minds if I want a snow day or not. Part of me would for useful reasons, but part of me would like to be able to get on with things as normal.

EssieW · 20/01/2013 18:58

We're in Herts - it has snowed since just before 9am and is still going. School closed tomorrow...preschool will probably be open.

LottieJenkins · 20/01/2013 18:59

After five hours of snow it has now stopped outside here now on Norfolk/Suffolk borders!!

pigsinmud · 20/01/2013 19:03

Crumbs everyone being so community spirited here....5am snow clearing at secondary school and people busy clearing village school playground tight now. I would be helping (begrudgingly) but have just survived 9 year old dd1's party.

The council have even had people out gritting the pavements in our village Shock I wanted a snow day. We have had another 5cm today - so 15cm since Friday, however main roads clear.

Dawndonna · 20/01/2013 19:14

Still snowing this side of the border, Lottie!

My DH is always asking me 'what your MN weather lady says',now OYBBKGrin. He has given up on any other weather forecasters.

It has snowed all day in Leics, and still coming down now.I am working on the farm all next week, plus looking after my cousin's pony and chickens as well as our dpony,so will be outdoors more than I'll be in.I'll try and take some photos whilst shepherding tomorrow.

lubeybooby · 20/01/2013 19:16

OYBBK is this flash warning of heavy snow overnight correct?

www.ukweatherforecast.co.uk/weather-warnings/

ArkadyRose · 20/01/2013 19:30

Suspect it'll be a snow day here in E17 tomorrow, as it's snowed light but steadily all day since 9am, it's still going, and it looks like it'll probably keep going overnight. DD3 had great fun helping me make "ice marbles" (squirt of food colouring in a balloon, fill balloon with water, leave outside overnight to freeze then remove balloon) to decorate our patio with. Smile DP has said if she has a snow day tomorrow then he'll work from home too, so at least I won't be dealing with a bored 5-year-old all day by myself! Grin

LivingInAPinkBauble · 20/01/2013 19:30

Still snowing in Norfolk where I am. Been struggling to work all week, school where I work seems to have had more snow than near me so hopefully head will decide quickly as I am leaving earlier in the mornings at the moment.

LottieJenkins · 20/01/2013 19:32

Dawndonna Its started again here!! Smile

MaureenMLove · 20/01/2013 19:36

I will think of you Chipping! We are shut! Grin Measured at 13cm in the garden just now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 19:51

Lubey, I've not seen that site before! It does seem to tally with met office warnings pretty well, which to me seem like a fair summary of the weather overnight into tomorrow.

OP posts:
tak1ngchances · 20/01/2013 19:54

I just can't believe that Wandsworth has seen 12 continuous hours of snow and it's still going. Depth of 15cm in my back garden.

Dawndonna · 20/01/2013 19:57

Lottie, ds would like to know how much you've got, he needs to get your way tomorrow!

InMySpareTime · 20/01/2013 19:58

I've been shaking my fist at the countryfile forecast, the snow front coming in from the south west and still dropping everywhere but ManchesterAngry. Is there a snow-phobic super villain repelling the snow from here? The snow-free zone is quite consistent and circular.

LottieJenkins · 20/01/2013 20:01

Dawn not sure but a lot!!! It hasnt stopped really since 1pm!!!

Dawndonna · 20/01/2013 20:03

Maybe he'll get a snow day too! Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 20:04

That area over the SE/EA finally seems to be moving northwards again!

Some possibility for snow moving in across from the SW on Tuesday/Wednesday. No details yet but looks most likely to affect sw and central southern England (which is me) .

wibblyjelly · 20/01/2013 20:04

Kitten, should it continue snowing overnight in East London? Thanks!

digerd · 20/01/2013 20:04

I think it's stopped, but dark so can't be sure. South Herts. Just 0 c atm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 20:05

IMST. I missed it, which day was that for?

OP posts:
Shattereddreams · 20/01/2013 20:07

London boro bexley
Our school shut tomo, it's on the London wide school site if your school subscribes

map.lgfl.org.uk/opencheck/

Our main roads are fine London bus routes and well gritted. But no other roads are and school is an old Victorian building on a narrow road.

Betcha trains are up spout so I will try to get to work.... But not very hard !

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 20:07

Wobbly, it should be over by around midnight I think.

My turn to ask a question Grin dh is going into central London tomorrow. How much ended up settling?
