ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 20/01/2013 17:42

Mooncup - I'm Envy I'd have loved to have been in London in the snow, but didn't want the risk/hassle of getting back out to the 'burbs if the trains stopped running :(

I'm in the South East - near Blackbush airport :) The planes look lovely!!

We have had the odd light bit of very fine flaked snow today.

I went out in the car earlier, I hadn't been out in the car since it started snowing on Friday - there was about 10-12 cm on it, the lightest, fluffiest stuff ever!

I have to get up and get ready for work tomorrow as I need to leave the very minute I find out if it's open tomorrow or not. Big of a bugger, but will think of Maureen (who has to walk to work at 6.30am) and count my blessings!

TobyLerone · 20/01/2013 17:44

Ours is pretty heavy now, and it's laying on the road now, which has been clear all day. Last night I offered to take someone somewhere later this evening and I wish I hadn't -- my road is like an ice rink :(

MrsAFlowerpot · 20/01/2013 17:47

Hmmm. I'm pretty senior at school and yet don't think ill know/a decision will be made until morning. Yuk

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2013 17:52

There are 3 schools saying they are closed on the Council website already. It's useful to know sooner.

reastie · 20/01/2013 17:54

I work in a school too and they have messages up on their website to say school open tomorrow so no snow day for me Sad . I think they'd find it pretty hard to give a snow day though as there are GCSE/Alevel modules going on tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 17:57

Starfish, I think you will be ok, I don't think slough will have got too much more today and the main roads will probably be fine. Maybe a problem with freezing fog though.

YY to schools having made a decision to open put it on the website!! Then we will know. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 17:58

mrsFlowerPot, Tis on our school websites. I expect I'll get the text in a couple of days knowing how crap it was on Friday!

Hoping for a snow day tomorrow here although its stopped snowing now and no more forecast. Roads are just slush now, so I guess the DC's school will open unless it gets badly icy over night. 13 schools listed as closed so far on the council website, but closest to ours is in the next town 6 miles away. Will be Sad faces in the morning.

MaureenMLove · 20/01/2013 18:04

Oh the suspense is killing me! Head of HR has Face Booked to say likely to be closed, but I need written confirmation! (or a call from my boss) I just keep pressing refresh on my school e-mails!

Come on!! Grin

NeverBeenToMe · 20/01/2013 18:06

Finally stopped snowing here in Birmingham. Both DDs and DGS schools are closed.Still waiting to hear about the one where I work Sad? could be an early start to get there ??

Think a fair few Norfolk and Suffolk schools will be closed, again!

Helenagrace · 20/01/2013 18:14

My DC's schools have posted on their website that they expect to be open but will make the final decision at 7am. DCs highly unimpressed!!

MirandaWest · 20/01/2013 18:15

I'm invigilating A level modules here tomorrow so hope that the snow isn't too bad for the students doing the exams

Lucycat · 20/01/2013 18:20

We have no snow here either living in S Manchester - we rarely do tbh. I also have students doing an A level exam tomorrow so i don't want any snow - yet Smile

lubeybooby · 20/01/2013 18:22
