any - not nay!

MirandaWest · 17/01/2013 14:30

There's a little bit of light fluffy snow just outside York. Sky very grey now after beautiful blue sky this morning.

GossipWitch · 17/01/2013 14:31

Its snowing here in east mids, very light but there is snow !!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 17/01/2013 14:32

I am confuzzled. The BBC weather thingy says light snow tomorrow, yet we're in the amber warning area on the Met office site. They all seem a bit unsure and bet hedgey to moi. I want at least a foot of snow before breakfast or I shall sulk

poorbuthappy · 17/01/2013 14:33

We are now a red zone!!!!

NewYearsEvelyn · 17/01/2013 14:34

Supposed to be taking dd and a friend out to York tomorrow for her birthday. Bet that won't happen :( Hope the snow is being overplayed by the press but know, deep down, it's a comin'.

educatingarti · 17/01/2013 14:38

vv confused. Met office has us as amber but BBC weather has us as yellow? Who to believe

I think I'll just believe OYBBK!

ImNotaPheasantPlucker · 17/01/2013 14:46

Oh, Oh! We're now on an amber warning in Somerset. The sky is starting to look ominous.

Don't know whether to be excited after waiting for snow all this time or worried!

MordionAgenos · 17/01/2013 14:48

Not Happy. :(

GirlOutNumbered · 17/01/2013 14:51

Tesco just delivered all my shopping panic buying. Should last us a few days! Now, wheres that snow.

DialsMavis · 17/01/2013 14:57

We just had a few icy balls in Ealing! Graupel? It's stopped now anyway

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2013 14:58

It's snowing. Sad Too early!!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 17/01/2013 15:00

Nice nn ImNot!Grin

Nothing on Dartmoor currently. Boo.

TobyLerone · 17/01/2013 15:03

We went to Sainsbury's earlier and it was like Christmas eve! We couldn't work it out until we realised that everyone was panic buying Hmm

LostInWales · 17/01/2013 15:06

You know you are an MN weather watcher OYBBK devotee when you can use the word graupel.

GirlOutNumbered · 17/01/2013 15:07

Hi Underwater from just outside Dartmoor. Nothing here too!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 15:09

Take Action means make sure you have:
Hot Chocolate
Marshmallows
Squirty Cream
Brandy
flares (not the trouser sort)

etc.

Actually if it were me (and I'm thinking about this slightly) it would be things like :

parking your car in a sensible place (not on a main road if snow ploughs are likely to be used to clear the road) but also parking it where it is easy to manouevre.

charging up phones and perhaps making sure that you have supplies in case of power cut. (very heavy snow can lead to power cuts obv, esp with high winds)

Making sure you have cat litter if you have cats!

checking that elderly neighbours have supplies in.

Theres loads of other stuff and would actually be a good thread if anyone fancies starting it.

People are sending me sensible business emails wanting prompt responses and all I want to reply is: 'ITS GOING TO SNOW, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS'.

getting a bit over excited here!!!!!!

It is snowing in Leicestershire.I wasn't expecting any today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 15:09

the irony is, we've not actually got any food in really as we've been running down our stocks since christmas. Doh!

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 15:10

Oh bless you OYBBK

I love your snow threads!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 17/01/2013 15:18

DH is panic buying on his way home, but we've now got sunshine.

Come ooooon, snow!

appleblossoms · 17/01/2013 15:19

I've been following this all week!

OYBBK, or anyone else, what's the "best" forecast to watch at the moment. They all seem so varied, I guess because of the unpredictability of what will actually happen. Do you have a favourite that mirrors your own interpretations??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 15:20

Ok.

After midnight the first signs of the front move in with some rain and a bit of snow in the SW.

Dawn: Snow for most of Wales, west midlands and parts of SW. Also some snow showers in East Anglia.

9am: draw a box up from the Isle of Wight to Yorkshire and round across Wales. Snow. (apart from far sw and mayve south west Wales)

12pm: anything south of Lincoln (apart from most of the stickyout bit of the SW) snow - but patchy towards the east still.

3pm: snow showers down the NE coast. snow in Northern Ireland and pretty much most places away from the stickyout part of the SW.

6pm. Snow extending up past edinburgh. Maybe some rain along the south coast.

9pm:similar to 6pm.

snow may well be heavy at times but although persistent will not necessarily be continuous once it starts to get lighter. Nevertheless some really impressive accumulations for some.

apple blossoms I dont entirely agree with the met office interpretations (which is ironic) but I would choose them over any other forecasting centre by a long way.

You know, I think we might go food shopping tonight as Saturday is our normal day....
