They will close the school early if heavy snowfall /road problems start. They don't want kids stuck at school for the weekend !

Labradorlover · 17/01/2013 09:25

Move to Edinburgh if you don't want snow....we possibly may have a light snow shower on Friday....FFS....It's Scotland, I want to go sledging. The only thing I'll need a ruler for on Friday, is to measure my huffiness Angry
We didn'tget snow last winter either.

reastie · 17/01/2013 09:32

Thanks iseenodust - I know that logically but where I work can be a bit slow and useless on everything

TheSkiingGardener · 17/01/2013 09:35

Tiny, tiny flakes of snow falling in Southampton! Yay! Very happy, just from the fact that I've seen about 20 snowflakes in total.

StairsInTheNight · 17/01/2013 09:53

Going out to buy sledge, so fully expect the snow to swerve around us now!

WhispersOfWickedness · 17/01/2013 09:57

Robino, that's going to be a bit of a shock for you all! I would advise hats even if it doesn't snow, it is very very cold here at the moment, struggling to get above freezing during the day...

MirandaWest · 17/01/2013 10:02

Robino it's currently about -6 near York. Think it is meant to be a little warmer tomorrow and during the weekend but it is going to be a lot colder than 19 :)

robino · 17/01/2013 10:14

Arghhh! I am scared! Just to clarify, we have a bag of cold weather gear at our first stop but we're spending the night in Manchester first. My dad is coming to meet us so I've asked him to bring hats to tide us over!

MordionAgenos · 17/01/2013 10:19

If the trains are running tomorrow evening, we will go. In the hope that even if they are crap Saturday morning, they may be sorted by Saturday evening. Or, we could go on into London and stay with my sister if necessary.

LillethTheCat · 17/01/2013 10:26

Does it look like if Saturday morning is going to be too bad for driving in North Yorkshire? DD1 has a birthday party to go to. I live rurally and its a 20 min drive. I feel like I have to go (how would the poor child feel if no-one came to his party?), but Im really scared about it being too dangerous to drive.

DamnDeDoubtance · 17/01/2013 10:30

Snowing quite steadily in east kent. Managed to lure one of those tricksy little clouds my way! Grin

Starshaped · 17/01/2013 10:59

I don't understand my Met Office app. Manchester looks to be under a weather warning for snow tomorrow (borderline yellow/amber) but the 5 day forecast just has us down for cloud and no snow.

What's that all about then? Confused

It's a beautiful morning so far. The sun is out, it's cold and I love it. No snow though.

Thanks for the update kitten. Hoping for some good snow tomorrow, but I know some of you have things that you can't miss and journeys that have to be made, so I hope you get o where you need to be safely. Good luck to all the young people who have exams.

Looking forward to hearing from Kitten again later today. :)

JammySplodger · 17/01/2013 11:27

We've got a couple of small flakes falling on top of the ice & snow from the last few days, and am fully expecting a fair bit tomorrow - atop one of Sheffield's hills.

DH is planning on building snowmen working at home tomorrow but I think DS's school will probably be open, most of the teachers can walk in.

leesmum · 17/01/2013 11:31

Starshaped i'm in Mancland too and have been confused by the warnings, to be honest i think we might just be borderline for no snow or a ton of the stuff!!

Molepom · 17/01/2013 11:43

I've got snow falling now. It's very light at the moment but it's here.

Sheffield.

It's a lot earlier than anticipated.

snowflakehellokitty · 17/01/2013 11:46

snowflakes falling here in salisbury Grin
very cold
forecast for tomorrow heavy snow here from 6am

DamnDeDoubtance · 17/01/2013 11:58

You lucky old Snowflake.

Starshaped · 17/01/2013 12:00

I'm with you leesmum. I'm hoping for loads but fully expecting none...

OYBBK reckoning Manchester would get some when I was moaning yesterday but the Met Office forecast seems to have changed since then.

SparkleSoiree · 17/01/2013 12:36

After expecting nothing at all this week then MAYBE some tomorrow I'm very excited to report that we have snow touch down just outside Guildford! It's very fine and light but HEY it's snow!

Oh yeaaaa!!!

TobyLerone · 17/01/2013 12:37

Oooh, they've upgraded some of the weather warnings! Wales is red in some parts, and the amber area has been enlarged.

Makinglists · 17/01/2013 12:46

it actually snowed in Plymouth today - ok only a few flakes and didn't settle but enoug for the children to get excited - we are always the last place in the world to get snow!!!!!
