Just for fun Xmas Smile

GFS had Christmas Day in sight now. Of course it's massively a long way off in forecast terms and it can't even make its mind up what is going to happen on Friday yet!

disclaimer: am only an amateur and this is my hobby. Please don't rely on it for any crucial decisions - I don't want you to get into pickles cos I got it wrong!

And now for the forecast......

Any possibility of snow for the south east? I am in east kent. Smile

tak1ngchances · 10/12/2012 21:49

Vanished the Pest from the West, kitten ? I thought it was a dead cert that we'd be wet & mild by Friday all over the country

DamnDeDoubtance · 11/12/2012 07:20

What about the beast from the east? Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 11/12/2012 07:52

Now GFS is going for a full on raining pouring day with temps ranging from 3c in the east to around 10c in the west. awful!

Basically, the pest wins from this weekend :(

Rather rain than snow...

Snazzyfeelingfestive · 11/12/2012 07:56

Marking place to hear more. Light snow from Christmas Eve but clearing up by the 27th would be my ideal. North west.

TeWisBeenNargledByTheMistletoe · 11/12/2012 07:58

Boo, come on snow!

TobyLerone · 11/12/2012 09:13

It can snow now but it needs to clear up by the New Year. I'm getting married on 12th Jan and it would be awful if people stayed away because of the weather :(

SledsImOn · 11/12/2012 09:23

Rather a blizzard in parts of Kent this morning apparently. Not here - but down the road.

I'm Xmas Envy

HoHoHoMoreBaubles · 11/12/2012 12:53

i really really want it to snow but i doubt it will here in the NW...Xmas Envy to all of those who do get snow!

fatsatsuma · 11/12/2012 14:19

Kitten, what has happened to the lovely cold weather we were supposed to have for the next two months??
AIBU to be totally depressed by the turn the forecast is taking?

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 11/12/2012 14:50

YANBU fatsatsuma.
I'm not quite sure what is going wrong at the moment, other than the euro high is drifting away a bit and allowing the Atlantic to move in more. I need a bit more of a brain to analyse why that is ( a bit too drifty on co-codamol just at the moment to make my brain work properly)

TeWisBeenNargledByTheMistletoe · 11/12/2012 16:10

It is very very cold and pretty foggy here in the middle bit. Just no precip!

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 11/12/2012 16:18

freezing fog here. ugh.

At least we're inside!

And I saw a crane (bird!) on the roof of our house this am - it seemed very out of place in England in December.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 11/12/2012 16:30

oh wow! A crane and not a stork? I'm sure that means something in Poland, but cant remember what....

TeWisBeenNargledByTheMistletoe · 11/12/2012 16:32

I'm pretty sure! It was massive, flew off before I managed to get a picture. We are near a small wetland nature reserve.

BelleDameSousMistletoe · 11/12/2012 16:37

Wow! We've got some herons nearby - they are huuuuuge!

OYBBK - sorry about the co-codamol requirement. Hope you are ok?

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 11/12/2012 17:32

Herons are funny creatures. Our neighbour once declared war on them cos of his pond and strung the whole of his garden with fishing wire. How they could walk around without being garroted I'll never know!
belledame - I'm not great, but attempting to muddle through. I shant litter this thread with moans!

Give me rain any day. Not a downpour, more a light drizzle.

fatsatsuma · 11/12/2012 17:51

Sorry you're having a bad time kitten. I would give you a [bunch of flowers] but I don't know how to do it on my phone.

BelleDameSousMistletoe · 11/12/2012 19:26

I like the herons. I like crows and magpies too though. I put food down for little birds at one end of the garden and big birds at the other.

Hope you're better soon. Thanks

mathanxiety · 11/12/2012 19:36

One of my mum's favourite Christmas memories is from the Christmas when I was about 3 months old. She heard a bird commotion in the garden and discovered a huge flock of migrating waxwings feasting on cotoneaster berries. It must have been a bad year for berries in northern Europe that year.

Brew and Thanks Kitten..

denialandpanic · 11/12/2012 20:37

Wine Brew Thanks

Labradorlover · 11/12/2012 22:01

Had a flock of waxwings hang about the garden for an hour last winter. Had never seen them before...they are beautiful......
