Perhaps some snow for southern England.

Maybe some snow for some of southern England and east Anglia in the early hours tomorrow. It is marginal and many will see rain instead, but I think that the chilterns may see some and perhaps the higher part of the Downs as well. Could be a messy mix, so don't get too excited!

Starting to slow down in south Essex now, hoping it will melt and the roads recover asap as lots to do today.

pepperrabbitanddesultorytinsel · 05/12/2012 08:40

We have a light dusting, enough to get the kids excited and for DD to wear her snowboots (she's a very literal child Smile) but not enough to disrupt life. Phew and hurrah!

30 mins and out on foot, hope I don't slip over , as our pavements not cleared as usual. Still + 1.6 out, not getting any milder. Might get there and is closed for today? grrrrrrr

Snowing fat and chunky in East Kent, just starting to lay.

May not last but it's mighty perty.

Snow NE Essex. Bloomin school bus didn't come...now stuck with my eldest for the day. One mm of snow and the world comes to an end Angry

mummytime · 05/12/2012 09:22

It snowed here, fortunately they have re-started gritting my hill. Drove kids to school, one school bus had broken down. My children were on time, lots still arriving 10 + minutes late, including a couple of coach loads. One slip, at about 2 mile an hour, by the children's school; but I made full use of my winter driving lesson a couple of years ago (fabulous, you get to use the skid pan!).
The youngest is off on a trip to London, so I'm wondering how long it will take with the M25.

LIZS · 05/12/2012 09:25

Been snowing for an hour and half here (Surrey) and has settled but hopefully easing off now and cloud lifting.

gnushoes · 05/12/2012 09:26

snowing on the South Coast, quite enthusiastically. sticking a bit.

DamnDeDoubtance · 05/12/2012 09:27

Really fat and chunky monkey flakes. Great because it was only gonna be rain.

What changed and made it snow? Not sure how it works. Is it when a codd and a warm front meet and the rain in the clouds turns to snow?

DiamondDoris · 05/12/2012 09:31

Second dose here in west Kent; earlier feathers now sleety stuff. Still slippery out but easy to avoid. Not yaktrax weather yet. Hope it melts.

GloriaSmud · 05/12/2012 09:35

I think it is something to do with a warm front (the rain) hitting the cold. But I think it also has to be cold from the cloud all the way to the ground, otherwise whatever starts off as snow up high would melt and turn to rain on the way down.

slartybartfast · 05/12/2012 10:09

i see flakes in east sussex

Ours has stopped now but was a lovely taster for the season.

Masses of snow in Kent.

It started on the way to school, then had to try and transport several children to a championship event up a steep hill, on our rubbish tyres, with skidding wheels and virtually no braking ability.

Then walk several hundred yards in ice, while 8 months pregnant.

I have to go and get them later too - really unsure about this, even our drive required massive revving and spinningto get up...

anyone know if it's likely to thaw out a bit by 2.30? I love snow but I have to DO things.

Xmas Grin

Ours is melting away now though we may get the odd flurry later.

Love a flurry.
