Perhaps some snow for southern England.

Maybe some snow for some of southern England and east Anglia in the early hours tomorrow. It is marginal and many will see rain instead, but I think that the chilterns may see some and perhaps the higher part of the Downs as well. Could be a messy mix, so don't get too excited!

We definitely had hoar on fences, flowers, etc. It was beautiful :)

Really interesting to know about hoar & rime frosts. I find weather fascinating & it's so complex.

Certainly a few niggles coming along now! Been warned by midwives to expect it to take a while though...

Just went outside for a short wander & it's milder so maybe no snow here after all.

Very hard frost here I think. -3.6 at the moment, I think we will be down to -6c by morning, perhaps -7.

It's going to be a long old night for you isn't it.

Might be overestimating my lows there.

I've never seen/noticed spiders webs like the ones I've seen today. They're amazing! I was going to ask about them but now I know it's rime frost. Cool!!!

We had hoar frost here yesterday - the cars sharp edges looked beautiful, little ice trees Xmas Grin

We had rime frost here today - the spiderwebs looked amazing Xmas Grin

Tonight, when I went out at 6pm the ice on the car was like a sheet of frozen water, not the normal 'ice on the windows' - very unusual (to me).

Tomorrow I'm getting my winter tyres out of storage and booking in the fitting!!

Love with winter!!

Kitten, just read one of your posts again. So it was rime on the car too. Cool!!! The ice on the car windscreen was like nothing I've see before. It was actually beautifully uniform and really hard to scrape off. It almost looked like sandblasted glass. This was at midday. Love the weather. Thanks again!

morning from Worcestershire -6. Sad How is it going to go from this to torrential rain tomorrow? I am intrigued. Confused

Ditto for yesterday. -4 and sun very low in sky at the moment. No wind and everything white with frost. Was -2 at 10pm last night, so went down only a further 2 degrees. So why did my front room go down from 22 to 18 in 4 hours which caused the heating to come on - very low to keep room temperature from dropping even lower. And still took 2 hours to get back up to 21? grrrrr.
Supposed to be milder on Saturday .

I know! It's going to be very odd! In the SE it's going to probably get below freezing again tonight then the temp will start to rise a bit before midnight or so and by midday tomorrow it will be around double digits!!! As the temp rises so will the rain move in. All to do with an Atlantic low pressure that seems to just effortlessly move in frontal systems with the euro high in retreat.

surface pressure charts show what an impressive beast this low is!

You know that pub that flooded OYMLK? They were about to open in November and they flooded again? They are due to reopen tomorrow night. I hope the rain isn't too bad.

Blimey that chart looks terrifying. Wind and rain. Sad

Oh sparkling :( I hope not too. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn't normally cause too many problems as it is only one day of heavy rain before a few days off from it, but it depends on how deep the surfaces are frozen in part. Longer term forecast isn't great though, lots of rain showing towards the back end of next week.

It's all very interesting. I am looking forward to getting out of the minus temperatures but not the getting wet a lot. Grin or maybe losing my fence. Sad

Don't mind wind and rain if it comes tomorrow, instead of Saturday, as tomorrow morning I am dancing again and this time I am taxied to and from dance hall . Will be walking this morning in the sunny crisp and even weather to Physio.

Last time we had stormy winds, I did lose some pretty lattice fence tops, and one is still hanging as have a climbing rose still attached to it . < sad face>

That's really irritating. I hope it hangs on for you!
We got our fences done properly after last winters relentless near gales. I love not having to worry about them. Got our gutters replaced too so no more frantic poking them with a stick!

Kitten
For years I did ballet, modern and jazz, and then taught, but now I'm old and and past all that. So now I go to line-dancing which is low-key, stepping and turning in styles of mambo, cha cha, rumba, jazz, waltz, including some cow-boy stuff too. My faves tend to be the flowing, floating styles to romantic music. But love having a mixture of styles. makes the 2 hours more interesting. I put up with the aches and pains afterwards !!< resigned face>
