sorry for my absence in the weather threads this week or so. A lot of real life going on. Dundee though had a whopper of a hail storm on Thursday.

Anyway, this weekend as no doubt you'll have seen gets really rather warm. Some parts will see 30C by Sunday/Monday. oof. Along with that hot weather there is a real risk of some good storms on Monday. When and where.....? No idea yet. A cold front moving south will herald more normal June temperatures and as that comes across the hot humid air, theres' potential for a good degree of instability. More details to come......

yum watery icecream wmmc!
Not nice waswondering :(
I think the south/se prospects are going to come late tonight tbh. It is actually pretty pleasant out there 24C and partially cloudy.

It's really pretty here, the sky is a purple colour and the air very close. It's going to wee it down again later.

I was a superhero mum for rescuing the wet kids (and DH) - you should have seen them struggling home, clutching Soleros and getting drenched ha! Grin

mankyscotslass · 27/06/2011 20:41

Heavy rain at 8.15 for 10 minutes, a rumble of thunder too.

Now it's stopped and the sky looks clearer.

Meglet · 27/06/2011 20:44

We had a few tiny drops of rain at 5pm, now blue sky and no sign of rain.

BBC had us down for heavy rain at 4pm, then moved it to 7pm (Hampshire).

GloriaSmud · 27/06/2011 20:53

Hard to tell what it's going to do here (Leicester) We've got darkish cloud and thundery rain but whether we get a thunderstorm, time will tell.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2011 21:57

meglet, I think any chances will be now in the early hours. This afternoons rain seems to have ermm.. evaporated Hmm

well done wmmc Grin

Early hours for Wimbledon too? Is there likely to be disruption to play tomorrow (Tues)?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2011 22:30

I'm not sure meditrina - could be some showers/perhaps storms. Hit and miss affairs.

ok, off to bed, will do a forecast in the am before I head out. (might start a sw19 thread)

Shock just got buzzed by a bloody mossie. grrr.

g'night.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 06:58

Did anyone get any storms last night? not a rumble here.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 07:04

Possible that there may be the odd shower round SW19, but nothing too organised or prolonged showing atm.

I think the storms must have been hit by the killer channel - so often storms make it to the channel then by the time they get over are just mess areas of heavy rain (or none as the case may be here)

still very warm this morning in west kent, and sun back out! only a little bit of rain overnight, no storms at all.

not enjoyable at 37w pg!!

HarrietJones · 28/06/2011 07:37

Light rain last night but gorgeous sunshine now.( Cumbria so v unusual)

GloriaSmud · 28/06/2011 07:37

Not.a.thing.
Maybe it was too hot! Grin

mankyscotslass · 28/06/2011 07:49

Not a thing!

Beautiful clear and sunny this morning (so far).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 08:07

I think it is possible that some in the SE will see storms today. We shall see.

Out for the morning. Have a lovely day all :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:08

Excitement a foot. A cold front moving across the SE/EA is starting to produce some lovely storms with potential for flash flooding, hail, squally winds.

rumbly here. Guess who has to head off on their bike in an hour....

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:09

met office warnings

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:11

some of the storms seem to be producing a decent number of c-g strikes. If the weather gets lively where you are its probably sensible to unplug your pc if its not on a UPS.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:14

bump.
This is a bit of a heads up for those in the SE really. Some potentially pretty severe weather is currently developing.

turned very cloudy here in last 40mins in Kent and breeze getting up, cannot wait for the rain! And fortunately my mum is coming over to do school run too.

dragonmother · 28/06/2011 13:34

Serious rumblings going on here. PC unplugged and new TV.
Am considering hiding under the table as get quite scared of thunder and lightning!

nicolamumof3 · 28/06/2011 13:37

i love a good storm! looks like its trying to brighten up tho now!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2011 13:38

I've put a more 'look at me' thread up so that people in the relevant areas gt warning. here

don't worry dragonmother, its only God moving his furniture about. Seriously though, I've read a fair number of statistics about storms and if you arent taking a shower or on a corded phone while in a house you are pretty much safe. (and even those accidents I've heard about were pretty much one offs)
