It really is treated like a competition by some people isn't it?

PathofLeastResistance · 03/10/2008 10:35

Oh and her mum was weaned in utero?

VictorianSqualor · 03/10/2008 10:36

What is the legality of copying someone's post from a forum? Does anyone know?
I have saved quite a lot of the threads, I could put those on to illustrate the things being said?
I'll photoshop it to scrub the name off but leave the post.

VictorianSqualor · 03/10/2008 10:36

Oh, also, smq, yes, I am.

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 10:37

Have they pulled the weaning thread again then?

Why?????

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 10:38

Why don't you ask MNHQ for advice on copying posts? I'm sure they'd know. Make sure here's no picture as well.

stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 10:39

They've pulled the 'club' too AA. Although that can't be a bad thing.

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 10:43

Just noticed that.

No reply to my email though. But not been banned so maybe, just maybe, they are listening.

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 10:44

Would LOVE to know who the mods are.

VictorianSqualor · 03/10/2008 10:45

Ah yeah hadn't thought of that. Thanks smq.

stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 10:54

is it bountybev?

Sorry but...PMSL!!

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 11:11

Ooooh VS blog is fab!

Suggested links...

Baby Feeding Law Group on marketing through Bounty

This one again on how they are successful at marketing products that essentially undermine BF and the WHO advice

And obviously links to anyone that isues these guidelines, so WHO, Unicef, NCT, LLL, DoH, FSA, NHS etc.

And as to legality of copying posts I think you can, as its information out there already and is not copyright. But I don't know.

ilovemyflipflops · 03/10/2008 11:16

Finally i found a site that gives sound advice to their members well done gurgle

stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 11:18

Can you also post a link to Aitch's blog on your blog? Also some other blw sites?

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 11:21

Ah they have replied to me! And stated they will be adding sticky to the weaning board.

My reply...

'Thank you for your reply.

I would suggest that this sticky is also added to the 0-3 and 4-6 month
boards, as this is where the most shocking and potentially harmful instances
of early weaning are being discussed.

I would also query your statement that 'Bounty in no way encourages early
weaning.' You target advertising of foods labelled (against WHO, NHS, and
Baby friendly Initiative guidelines) 'suitable from four months' to mothers
of 3-4 month old babies. This is stated on your website, along with fgures
for your advertising success rates. This is evidently encouraging early
weaning.

I would like know exactly who moderates the forum and exactly what their
links to any commercial or marketing companies are.'

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 11:24

Well done! Result!!!

The mods are external aren't they? I think?

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 11:32

No idea about mods.

Their sticky is crap though IMO. "The Department of
Health recommends that you wait until 6 months before introducing solids
(and that you should breastfeed throughout this time). Health
professionals recognise, however, that all babies are different, so if
you feel your baby is ready earlier, have a word with your health
visitor or other health professional and they will be able to give you
lots of good advice. It is important that you don't give solids too
early or it could be harmful."

No explantion of why, no sensible links, and as for the all-babies-are-different-so-ask-your-HV line, FFS.

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 11:41

Where is the sticky?? I can't find it.

VictorianSqualor · 03/10/2008 12:01

I've found a good paper in the Oxford Journals citing all the studies as to why feeding before 4 months shouldn't be done.
I think I'll have one page for weaning before 4 months, why not to, and another on weaning before 26 weeks and why not to, plus one on BLW and links to Aitch's blog and the gill rapley site.

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 12:09

They have not put up said sticky yet

Has anyone else had a reply from them?

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 12:11

Nope!

stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 13:15

seen this

I'm sure it's been linked before. Will show this to my dad, as he thinks newspaper articles are gospel.

VictorianSqualor · 03/10/2008 13:21

Guidelines on blog done.

Now I just have to find the papers saying the risks.

AnarchyAunt · 03/10/2008 13:23

Tis all wonderful stuff.

What if anything can I do to help?

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 03/10/2008 13:31
