Me again!

Thought id stick to one thread! Right, DS just had some toast (which he went mad for!) but he rips it apart. Is that OK?

Oh, perhaps worth mentioning that DD has no teeth yet. I don't know how eating might differ if they are present already, but I imagine they'd just find it easier to rip through things and grind them up.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 13/10/2006 22:54

DS has one tooth. He was ripping little bits off the lamb, and I fished a small bit from his mouth, scared he would choke on it! If meats ok... I guess I can lighten up

Relax, dd has 2 teeth so can now break off chunks. Has coughed quite a few times, but it doesn't stop her. She finds rice hardest to eat without coughing. She is 6mths btw.

TheBlairAitchProject · 15/10/2006 00:29

you would, i think, be amazed at what my dd can swallow without batting an eyelid. i gave her cooked mushrooms the other night, they'd only been halved and then casseroled so they were soft, but still sizeable. anyway, she appeared to be chewing them but it was only when we saw the nappies we saw that she had barely dented them. managed to eat about 8 pieces, though, and must just have swallowed them whole (or half, as i said) in the end.
tell me this, miss quootie have you ever actually allowed that child to gag or are you fishing food out before he gets the chance? Because in my experience, the more he eats the better he'll get at eating, if you know what i mean?

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 15/10/2006 10:45

Im abit of a fisher unless the bits are tiny, or mushy.

Now... im doing a roast today, can I let him suck the meat? Id love him to join in. By the way, hes getting reeeeeally good, he was really trying with the brocolli and cauliflour I did him yesterday, I just made them abit short. And I only have to hold the bottom of his cup and tip it up, as he draws it in and puts his lips round it and drinks

Want any photos of him shovelling?

leave that poor child alone! (i don't think i've ever fished anything out of dd's mouth, now you've got me worried that i'm too slack...)
i'm sure he'll love roast beef but don't pranny around with thin slices, make it a fist-sized lump, not unlike you would get in a casserole.
he should be able to chew at it and slurp at it, some bits might come off and he might swallow them, but it will mostly stay in one piece, while becoming progressively greyer and less appetising.

seriously, quootie, try to stop interfering with his eating, i understand that it's difficult but as someone so wisely said further down this thread, the whole point is to get him eating so try to let him get in with it.
i'd love a photo - press on my name in the blog and you'll get the address. have a nice, relaxed meal this afternoon all of you...

TheBlairAitchProject · 15/10/2006 11:10

'try to let him get on with it', rather.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 15/10/2006 11:10

cheers!

Is mushed kiwi on toast ok?
is bread with pumpkin and sunflower seed ok?

Thanks

WriggleyWitchesJiggle · 17/10/2006 13:04

I think kiwi may be one of those 'after 12mth' foods? May be wrong on this though.

SoupDragon · 17/10/2006 13:04

Kiwis are a reasonably common allergy I think.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 17/10/2006 13:11

oh bugger. Well, its all over my floor as DS wanted to play with it, rather than eat it so - phew!

OP posts:
TheBlairAitchProject · 17/10/2006 13:28

i haven't given dd kiwi yet, in fact i may never as i think they are vile. but i'm deffo waiting til 12 months before i let her have them. quootie, on the blog there is a list of allergicky foods up on the right hand side.
how did the baby get on with the beef the other day?
and for the record with the exception of cream cheese i have never managed to mash anything onto toast and have it actually stay there, so i've given up.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 17/10/2006 21:16

well, it all fell off anyway... really must write the foods out from your blog! Had no idea about kiwi! Got some photos of it though!

OP posts:
TheBlairAitchProject · 18/10/2006 12:29

you can't go wrong with things like green beans, broccoli, peaches, apricots, asparagus, toast and yummy roast beef in the beginning. am v keen to find out how your roast dinner went, quootie, did you answer and i didn't see it?

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 18/10/2006 16:04

By the time we got around to cooking it, DS was tucked up in bed! Dont fret, we will hvae another soon! Just figuring out how to get these photos to you via the blog. DS had cucumber today, but it was on the small side so I think it was abit hard.
