Me again!

Thought id stick to one thread! Right, DS just had some toast (which he went mad for!) but he rips it apart. Is that OK?

DS was weighed Wednesday, and has dropped from 25th to 9th centile... is he getting enough via BLW???

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 27/10/2006 21:35

Are you still giving him plenty of milk QP? It is very common for babies to drop a bit when they begin weaning, particularly if they are also quite active, but obviously you don't want him to drop off the charts (even though they're based on ff babies and aren't all that reliable).

I almost always offer DD a bf straight after her solids, in case she hasn't eaten enough (quite common!), and in fact she still probably has about 9 bfs a day! If you're worried then just try offering the breast a bit more often until he gets the hang of eating more solids.

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 27/10/2006 21:36

Oh and should add that you'd probably see exactly the same whether you were doing blw or pureed mush.

QuootieSpookypie · 27/10/2006 21:38

hes feeding exactly the same... loads He has become super active... and crawls and kicks about ALL day... Hes gained weight, but, not alot.

QuootieSpookypie · 27/10/2006 21:39

hes just above the line he was on at birth... he was 6lb 6oz, and now, at 30 weeks, is 16lb 6oz.

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 27/10/2006 21:41

Ah, it'll be the crawling then. DD didn't gain any weight for at least 5 weeks over the summer, but she was weighed again 6 weeks later and had gained over 1lb, and was back up on her usual curve.

Just keep up the good work and he'll soon get the hang of needing a bit more food for energy .

QuootieSpookypie · 27/10/2006 21:44

BTW For Aitch, DS with cup

HV said it was all the energy he was using, but, I was scared im starving him!

Also, thought id add... he loves steak and was sucking like mad on it

Upload more pics soon, as I cant email them. Aitch, your more than welcome to copy onto site if you want.

AlfredAitchcock · 27/10/2006 23:10

can't see it, quootie. other people can send photos... i wonder what the problem is?

unfortunately i can't help with the weight thing - i kinda think it's a load of bollocks because DD was weighed every two days when she was born and it really upset her and me and my bfing so when i emerged from the other end i vowed never to get her weighed again unless i was concerned that she was unhealthy in some way.

i think i've had her weighed once since that time - and that was just to check her for a carseat...

congrats on the steak, btw.

QuootieSpookypie · 28/10/2006 23:04

Here you go, theres 5 pages

AlfredAitchcock · 28/10/2006 23:07

gorgeous. how old is he and what's he eating again? will post them maybe tomorrow or monday (am supposed to be working right now... i know i'm on MN but don't tell).

QuootieSpookypie · 28/10/2006 23:14

on them photos is Kiwi (you might not want to show them because of the risk with kiwi you said), cucumber, philly on toast (minus bib ) Hes 6 monhs in those photos. The ones with a cup are at the end.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 12:04

aaaah! Ive just seen him on the site! Im glad you got the phot of him eating the plate, I was trying to load that on MN, but, its too big

Is cheese ok? I have some mild chedder in my fridge, and, wondered if DS could have it...

Also, Salmon and/or any other fish?

Will hunt on your site, but, thought id ask while I remembered.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 12:09

Also, is offering multi things ok? We are having roast chicken tomorrow... so, was planning on giving DS chicken, some potatoes cut up and some veg.

And I read on your blog... pasta? What age can they have that?

AitchTwoOh · 02/11/2006 14:00

there's now a search facility on the site which might help. pasta is dependant on whether you are concerned about wheat, but i amn't so i gave it to her pretty much from the word go.
also i gave her different things from my plate quite early on as well. as for cheese, i wouldn't stress too much about mild if it's not what you usually have in the house.
we prefer mature cheddar so we started dd off on that, reasoning that we could buy her mild if she hated it. but she really liked it so hurrah, we don't have to bother to buy dd her own cheese. (actually her grandma took her to her pal's house and the baby refused to eat this woman's mild cheese. apparently she tasted it and passed it back to her immediately. my mum said it was hilarious.

AitchTwoOh · 02/11/2006 14:04

dd also loves salmon and tuna. don't know if she's had any white fish yet, can't remember. honestly quoots, you can pretty much give them anything once they are over 6 months, if they don't like it they'll soon let you know.
if you are concerned about allergies look at the list of foods on the right hand column of the blog. obviously nuts aren't good yet, and you'd want to cut up grapes. i haven't given dd strawbs or citrus but that's a bit of paranoia on my part as i had a friend with a life-threatening allergy.
beware with the fish, though, you do get a very odd-smelling baby out of it. i tend to give her it just before a bath.
and the plate photo is lovely, isn't it?

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 17:49

I only eat mild Pasta definatly ok, not a choking risk? Im thinking of them swirl things (we have tons on the cupboard) I just gave DS blended banana on a spoon in the vain hope he'll sleep for more than 2 hours at a time tonight Fallen off the BLW wagon

AitchTwoOh · 02/11/2006 19:41

don't worry, whatever works...
and the swirly things are good because they can hold them. obv i can't guarantee that there's no risk of choking any more than you could with your mashed nana, but dd has never had any problems.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 19:46

didnt work - hes had 4 feeds in an hour! Dunno why he does it, Hes properly asleep now. Ill give pasta a go soon

AitchTwoOh · 02/11/2006 19:49

dd likes it with pesto or spag bol, and some people grate cheddar cheese over it.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 19:51

are "meals" ok then? Rather than seperate things?

SoupDragon · 02/11/2006 19:57
QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 19:59

Should I try that in the kitchen rather than the cream carpet?

littlepiggie · 02/11/2006 20:02

QP, if you get into to muah of a panic your lo will not want to eat. Have you yried eating at the same time? Ds sits at the table with us, he never eats the same if we are not eating.
