I do not feel bad for people who miss their flights or trains.

In general it is not hard at all to be on time. People miss flights or trains because of their own poor plannings, time management and irresponsibility.

when I travel by train from one city to another city far away, I see other travellers running to catch their trains. Sometimes they manage to make it onto their trains before they leave, a lot of time they miss them and they complain and throw a fit and sometimes even cry.

i always chuckle when I witness that because I know for sure that it is their fault. When I travel and I have a train or flight to catch I make sure to leave my house early to I can arrive early. At least 3 hours early. If I have a flight at 9 AM for example and the airline recommends me to be at the airport at 7 AM I am there at 6 AM. Of course I take myself to the airport so that nobody can dictate what I can and can’t do. I don’t let relatives take me to the airport anymore. I use uber or public transport.

the only time I’ve ever missed my flights or trains was when I travelled with older relatives. But ever since I started travelling solo, I never missed my flights or trains.

so when I am at the train stations or airport and I see people running, I feel 0 sympathy for them. They most likely loiter at home and decide to leave their homes close to the time of their departures.

I think you need to remove your head from your asshole OP!

Possibly surgically because it sounds as though it’s been wedged up there for a while !!

Heyheyitsanotherday · 28/08/2025 20:15

Ooooooo kkkkkk 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The level of Schadenfreude you experience seems disproportionate to me, and definitely veers into nastiness.

I can understand why you travelling solo is more pleasurable to you, but my guess is that you travelling alone is a better solution for your travelling companions too.

I don’t think it’s Schadenfreude - l think it’s just bollocks borne of Thursday afternoon boredom !!

I almost missed a funeral recently. I live in South East London, funeral in the midlands. I built in 2 extra hours for delays. My tube got stuck in a tunnel due to signal failure for 40 mins, the line got suspended and I ended up somewhere out of the way trying to get to Euston. I lost my pre booked advance ticket. Had to rebook for £££ and had to take 7 trains rather than 3 and then a taxi because I missed my lift from the station. It was stressful but was just a bad travel day. Thankfully I arrived 1 minute before the service.

You'd have laughed?

Livelovebehappy · 28/08/2025 20:51

I used to watch the program about airports where people used to show up at check in and rant and rave because they were too late. Most of them didn’t even have an excuse - they just decided they didn’t want to hang around the airport and so left it til the last minute. So self entitled…

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/08/2025 20:54

If anyone is familiar with Utah Mom on YT (if you aren’t you should be) when someone says they “chuckle “ I think of her frenemy Jessica. She’s a smug pompous arse too

Tillow4ever · 28/08/2025 20:56

I missed a flight one time. It was nearly Christmas, I was just a kid actually. We were due to fly to France with my whole extended family. There was a power cut during the night and our alarm clock didn’t go off. I was sleeping in the attic as some sort of weird punishment, and my parents FORGOT I was there. I was 8! They left me behind, and so I missed my flight. I bet you would have found it hilarious as they were rushing through the airport though.

I suspect this is about as real as this poster.

You obviously are not acquainted with the M25.

This!

3 hours before a flight 😂😂
You square

I don't actually mind getting to airport 3 hours before the flight. Rather be relaxing in lounge with food and drink than stressed on motorway/ train etc

The older I get the more I realise that human connection is the thing we need the most. Even those of us who are not sociable by nature or introverted. We need human connection. It’s good for the soul.

When you’re lying on your deathbed I wonder what you’ll lament. Will it be “I wish I had done more stuff by myself as other people are too slow/disorganised/annoying”. I very much doubt it somehow.

scalt · 28/08/2025 21:58

Are you in league with Roger Hallam? (He who paralysed the M25 by climbing the Dartford Bridge.) Did he send you to sneer at those who missed the funerals and other events they were going to attend?

OnTheBoardwalk · 28/08/2025 22:06

I always feel sorry for people running for a bus and if I can slow or stop the bus if I can then I will do

i do like the the easyJet yet episodes about people thinking the plane should wait for them when it’s already loaded

personally I like to be there very early for a brew for my trains but sometimes things happened and that’s not happened

how you can laugh at the people seems really strange for you

LyraSilvertongue · 28/08/2025 22:27

What a nasty person. I once came close to missing my flight because trains were massively delayed due to a person messing about on the tracks. I’d allowed plenty of time to get to the airport but this unforeseen incident cancelled out the extra time I’d allocated to travel.

That's fine but op laughs at people who can't which is mean and childish

I'm feeling stressed on your behalf reading that

SarBe · 28/08/2025 22:54

Oh what a judgemental puffalump you are!
I was recently at a train station 40 minutes early, checked the board and went straight to the platform.
Checked the board periodically to make sure nothing had changed.
Then 5 minutes before departure they changed the platform and I was that idiot running to get my train!!!!
Out of my control and zero lack of planning from me...... circumstances happen!!!!

EggyBreads · 28/08/2025 23:01

I’ve never missed a flight or a train but this doesn’t make me some sort of super human. OP you come across as a horrible cunt. Hth.

EasySqueezy · 28/08/2025 23:04

Whst a joyless old misery you sound.

RaraRachael · 28/08/2025 23:05

OP does seem to be coming back out to play 😅

InTheWindow · 28/08/2025 23:14

Last time I ran for a train was when the train I was on, the last of three in a five hour journey, went through the station we were meant to get off at due to a signal failure. Its next stop was 30 minutes away by train, an hour by car. I had my tired pre-schooler with me. I managed to check times and platform back to a more local station, call her dad to get him to pick us up there instead and calm down an elderly tourist who had no idea how she was going to get where she was going, I told her to follow me when we got to the large station and we all ran several platforms away and just made the train (kind train manager let us travel with no further ticket/charge). We gave the tourist a lift to where she needed to be when we got back to our county. Good to know you’d have been judging us.

You’re an inspiration to all

I do not feel bad for people who miss their flights or trains.
Enigma54 · 28/08/2025 23:30

OP is probably sat in a train station right now, chuckling at all the people dashing for the last train home! 🙄

RaraRachael · 28/08/2025 23:35

Grrrr. Obviously my post should read "doesn't" but I can't edit it.

Yep, she won’t miss the 7:55 am train if she gets to the station the day before, will she!

It’s only a 30 minute journey and the trains are every 15 minutes, but better to be safe than sorry Wink
