I do not feel bad for people who miss their flights or trains.

In general it is not hard at all to be on time. People miss flights or trains because of their own poor plannings, time management and irresponsibility.

when I travel by train from one city to another city far away, I see other travellers running to catch their trains. Sometimes they manage to make it onto their trains before they leave, a lot of time they miss them and they complain and throw a fit and sometimes even cry.

i always chuckle when I witness that because I know for sure that it is their fault. When I travel and I have a train or flight to catch I make sure to leave my house early to I can arrive early. At least 3 hours early. If I have a flight at 9 AM for example and the airline recommends me to be at the airport at 7 AM I am there at 6 AM. Of course I take myself to the airport so that nobody can dictate what I can and can’t do. I don’t let relatives take me to the airport anymore. I use uber or public transport.

the only time I’ve ever missed my flights or trains was when I travelled with older relatives. But ever since I started travelling solo, I never missed my flights or trains.

so when I am at the train stations or airport and I see people running, I feel 0 sympathy for them. They most likely loiter at home and decide to leave their homes close to the time of their departures.

When you're stuck outside a connecting train station for half an hour, and there's no sign of the train moving anytime soon ; how is that your fault? Or many other similar scenarios that aren't your fault.
I think you're just trolling.

Me, too! I have posted saying I think she’s a wind-up merchant.

What a weird post.

Very. Reading through replies I am
happy to see that a lot of people are not falling for this nonsense.

Mittleme · 30/08/2025 11:09

Lol agree100%

either bored or lonely
there are many reasons to miss a train not necessarily poor time management in all cases as OP suggesting .
many critical things going on in the world than talk about missed train or flight !

TigerRag · 30/08/2025 11:13

I get the coach from home to the airport. It should take 3 hours. But we were once behind an accident and it took nearer 4

EmuFace · 30/08/2025 11:40

Well, I hope you didn’t see me, absolutely distraught, running to catch a connection when I’d had a phone call whilst on a mini break in Kent telling me that my mother had had a catastrophic stroke and I had to get to Cambridge.

Fortunately, the people I encountered that day were kind and helpful.

Things are not always how they look.

We had a flight delayed by 12 hours once!!! Anyone who had been ‘clever’ like you and booked a super early flight to get somewhere for a connection still would have missed it!
I’ve always booked a hotel near the airport for the night before I fly… BUT not everyone can do that.

I was at airport for 8 pm flight ( in Portugal) delayed delayed delayed ans finally cancelled at midnight. Taken to hotel for the night. Back to airport 2 pm for 4 pm departure and then delayed until 9pm. Glad I didn't have a connection as a 25 hour delay would've definitely screwed me@

Curryingfavour · 30/08/2025 15:01

Oh thanks OP , so it’s my fault that my first flight had a delay ..then the plane landed + taxied to nowhere near the airport terminal and we were put on buses then I had to run , red face ( hot airport ) and out of breath across to catch the connecting flight ✈️
you sound lovely 🙄
And I’d arrived for the first flight with 2 hours to spare even after going through security etc

That’s why I pick long layovers

My ex recently took our daughter away. He always leaves two hours between the two trains he needs to take.
His first train was 70 minutes delayed. He had to get across London for his next. He luckily made it with a few minutes spare.

How would that have been his fault if he missed the train? How much longer would you expect him to wait between trains?

rhinosuze · 30/08/2025 18:50

joseline · 28/08/2025 15:43

I’d rather be too early then run not knowing wether or not I am gonna catch my flight or not.

Hi Joseline

since being mean spirited seems the order of the day with you, I’m going to take a leaf out of your book and point out your dreadful spelling

If you exist to be vile at least try to do it well eh

All the best to you for your future transport endeavours

You might have seen me crying last time I missed a train because I was scared of missing my oncology appointment. Sorry about that. I left plenty of time and I'm never normally late, but the person giving me a lift's car wouldn't start. Then the rural bus was delayed and it takes twice as much time anyway. Because of that bus delay I missed the second bus and had to wait for the next one. Then my suitcase broke, and a staff member was rude when I asked which way to the platform. I got there just as the doors shut. So yeah, I was pretty emotional.

Luckily the next train just about got me to the hospital late, but in enough time to check in and get seen.

Shit happens and you're weird for laughing when people cry.

I also live in the country, and know about the stress of getting to distant hospitals for treatment. That sounds a horrible experience, and I'm sorry that you had to go through it.

RubySquid · 30/08/2025 07:38

Hope that was all on one booking. Wouldn't have risked that on separate flights lol

Luckily we'd booked all the flights through a travel agent, so it didn't cost us anything, apart from our entertainment for a day in London. Unfortunately it didn't recompense our son giving up his job in NZ a day early in expectation of our arrival!

sittingonabeach · 31/08/2025 01:05

I think there is a good reason you mainly travel solo, nobody would want to be with you! I know who I would rather be and it isn’t you

I almost missed the plane once because the Gatwick Express broke down in the middle of the field… no way of getting off or getting alternatively transport. Had everything gone well we’d have been 4 hours early. As it was we had to leg it through the airport.

Trains. Depends again… I’ve been stuck on a broken down tube for ages before.

Oblomov25 · 31/08/2025 07:06

Nope, generally zero sympathy. Totally different if the connecting train breaks down or there's an emergency, an accident, total understanding. But for most people it's not those, so no sympathy.

Wow just wow, I just wish I was as perfect as you but then that would make me a narcissist

Cojones · 31/08/2025 23:53

Blimey OP, you sound very smug. I’m glad your little life runs so smoothly.

Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. It isn’t always because we’re poorly organised. But you crack on with laughing and enjoying the misery of those who missed their flight/train etc..

hatifhafi3 · 01/09/2025 06:49

Totally agree – most of the time it really just comes down to planning ahead. I also get to airports and stations early so I can relax instead of stressing last minute. Missing transport is almost always avoidable if you give yourself enough buffer time.
