If your goal is to look slim, fit and athletic but not super skinny

Thanks

Smidge under 5”8 and currently around 10st 12 lbs and a size 12 but prefer to be around 10 stone , have been around 9 st 3 but was very strict with diet and exercise and found it too hard to maintain , also didn’t look as well in my face , but once I start gaining on that it all goes to my stomach which I dislike .

I’m 5’8.5 and weigh 11 stone 8, wear a size 10. It’s the lowest weight I’ve ever been in my life (lost just over 13 stone on weight loss injections). I don’t want to lose anymore now as I’m starting to look a bit skinny and bony so I’m just working on maintaining my current weight.

It’s so interesting how weight shows on different bodies of the same height.

I’m exactly the same height and weigh 9st 6. It’s about right for me. I’d feel uncomfortable at over 11 stone. I had a brief dalliance with overweight a couple of years ago and crept up to 13 stone 6. I felt massive. People say to me, ‘I can’t believe you weighed so much. You didn’t look fat’, but they didn’t see me without clothes. I only look on the slim side at 10.5 stone or less.

Edited to add - I’m still a size 12. I’ve never been an 8 in my life.

Bufftailed · 18/01/2026 22:44

5,7 currently 12 8. Eek. Do a lot of exercise snd mostly size 12/ occasionally 14 on bottoms. V curvy. 11 is optimal.

TheChicDreamer · 18/01/2026 22:50

I’m currently around 9st 4. I used to be a lot less but I’m working hard as I get older to build muscle and get stronger. I have a very small frame so gains in weight are noticeable and don’t really suit me.

I’m a size 8 but in some brands I take a 10 on the bottom half because I prefer a baggier fit and the leg lengths tend to be more generous.

cannaethink · 18/01/2026 22:52

5’8 and 9 stone at the moment. Wear a size 8. I’m quite happy with this weight. I’ve been bigger, only up to a 12/14, but I’m finding it easier to do the sports I enjoy doing at this weight.

Lougle · 18/01/2026 22:53

5'8", 9st 7lbs (60kg). Size 8-10? I'm small framed. I used to struggle to get above 8st when I was younger and had a 23.5" waist when I got married, so this feels relatively big, but slim.

Strokethefurrywall · 18/01/2026 22:56

5ft 8” - usually around 135lb but that was before I started lifting heavy and often.
135lb before I lifted (but did plenty cardio) I looked lean but not super defined. Now I’m working toward “sculpted to shit” so I’ll have to see what the scale says when I reach that point, probably 150-160 with all the extra muscle!

Chiefangel · 18/01/2026 22:59

5ft 7 and 59kg. Heaviest I’ve ever been is 66kg. I have a skinny frame.

notatinydancer · 18/01/2026 23:29

I’m 10.13. I’d like to be about 10.5.

clamshell24 · 19/01/2026 04:57

Even at 9 st 4 I’m still a 12- all belly!

NoYourNameChanged · 19/01/2026 05:05

Around 11.5/12 stone really. I’m quite a curvy build so any lighter is bloody hard work to get to and even harder to maintain and frankly I just don’t look that great any lighter. I wear a 10/12 at that weight. I’m not that weight at the moment, alas, having had a baby fairly recently!

theresbeautyinwindysun · 19/01/2026 07:39

I’m 5’ 7 and 10 stone. That’s the best weight for me, or just below

SpringBulbsPop · 19/01/2026 08:07

11st - currently losing am down from 14st7 to 12st6 so a way to go.

I’m not a small build so feel happier with size 12-14 than any smaller.
Also weight training so aiming for “strong and healthy” rather than “skinny”

Itstartedinbarcelona · 19/01/2026 10:15

Frame definitely counts. I used to around 10, 10.5 stone but when I lost weight and went to 9.5 stone I kept getting told I looked too skinny. Am now significantly more but losing weight. I’m aiming for 11 stone as I’m older, but to be honest 12 would be fine if it meant I could maintain it without having to calorie count.

Well done! You’re doing really well, I need some of your motivation 😅

DeftGoldHedgehog · 19/01/2026 11:13

I'm 5'7" and 11 stone. Pretty good, but easy to fluctuate and go over into unhealthy BMI, so 10st 7lbs would be perfect. Also by my measurements I ought to be size 12 but 10s tend to fit better, though are occasionally tight on the boob area. With half a stone off I'd be 100% into a size ten so clothes are easier. Also my middle gets a bit bloated sometimes so it would allow for a bit of that in clothes.

I was nine stone odd in my 20s but I think a stone heavier is better now at 50. And more realistic!

DeathWinsAGolfish · 19/01/2026 11:21

5’8” currently 9st 13lb, but happy to go up to 10st 3lb.

I’m 58 and size 10.

5ft8 and 14 stone is my ideal. I can eat some of what I enjoy and lift weights easily. Any less and I don't have the energy for exercise which is what I really enjoy. At 14 stone I feel great. Everyone feels different, but for me that how my body feels the strongest.

I'm 5'8" and 10½ stone. I feel just about right. I have been up to 13½ and that was too heavy. Whatever weight I am, my legs are too skinny!

Queenage · 19/01/2026 11:56

I’m 5’8 and 60, currently 10.10 and like to be 10.7. I don’t look much different up to 11 stone but feel best at between 10 and 10.7. Size 12-14 as have a meno belly urgh.

Whatever weight I am my thighs are too big - even at size 8 I didn’t have a thigh gap!😳

Here’s what the internet says about thigh gaps @remotefly

Not all women should have a thigh gap, as it's a feature determined by genetics, bone structure, and body composition, not universal health or beauty; striving for an unattainable thigh gap can lead to dangerous eating disorders and body dissatisfaction, while focusing on strength and health is a more beneficial goal. Most healthy women do not have a thigh gap, and it is often a result of specific body types, with some very athletic individuals even finding it difficult to achieve due to muscle mass.

SpringBulbsPop · 19/01/2026 14:24

Lots of self criticism on this thread.
We are all different builds and shapes. Let’s stop comparing ourselves to this imaginary perfect body and just go for optimum strength and vitality?
You have the legs , tummy, arms etc you were born with. They are perfect for you because they are yours.
Love youself. Feed yourself healthy food and strengthen your body 🏋🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️

I have a permanent thigh gap but I'd swap it for a bit more meat! We're never happy are we? 😂.

5’8.5 but in my sixties. Effortlessly 9 stone in my twenties, 10 and a half post three pregnancies in my thirties and forties, now 11st8 and look bloated, but this may be medication related. Managed to get down from 12st8 by eating one meal a day.
