Time for another spooky stories thread?

I know how much I enjoyed reading previous scary story threads so thought I'd start another and start with my own.

Now I always thought I had imagined this but after meeting up with my sister last week and getting on to this found out she remembers this too.

We both had a friend in the village who lived in a long house with an old barn out back, looked fairly normal had a ladder in the middle which took you up to the top level and the roof had a roof light window in it. Anyway this friend told us it was haunted and we thought she was having us on until she knocked on the door and an almighty bang answered, this kept happening. Then once it had stopped stuff started flying out of the roof window! Old sacks and old stove kettles etc! We were so scared but went in and no one was in there just totally empty. We then went in the house and said to friends mum and she said it must have been her dad but her dad was in the living room!

Needless to say I've never forgotten this and my sister obviously hasn't either.

So now I've started anyone else want to add any??

Hi all. Love reading these stories. I have only two stories. As an atheist / non believer I have to be honest both have made me question my beliefs. Trust me as a physicist that's unnerving!

  1. Last year, sunny Thursday late afternoon all normal. Went to put my wheelie bin out. Next door neighbour (the most down to earth character) was chatting to me as I pulled the bin out to the kerb. As me and neighbour chatted the old chap over the road was in his garden and we all acknowledged each other. I said good evening or similar. As I went to return up my path I remembered my other neighbour had mentioned a death at that house. The old chap me and my neighbour spoke to had died the previous Monday. My mum wondered if he wanted to have a last look at his roses, they were lovely and probably his pride and joy . Co-witness will not speak about it!
  2. My Mum died last October and God! I miss her. I have purposefully made sure I am not "looking" for signs. However, in a fit of grief I sent pictures to her old messenger account. According to the fb techs, as her fb is memorialised and the messenger was on her phone her account literally doesn't exist anymore. A message should just "hang" saying sending or could not send. That message was read. FB have checked it all out. The last access on the FB account was me, shortly after Mum's death posting a message on her wall and then memorialising the page. No function access possible. Really upset me actually. If she is out there, why can't she just come see me? Sad. Now I am a very confused atheist xx

The debunking thread has been lost. Either it was in chat and disappeared after 90 days or MN had it deleted as they realised it was fictional.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:51

I don't think it was a person turned into a werewolf, I think it was always some sort of wolf creature. Iirc initially it was on all fours but when it ran it ran on its back legs. Was tall, and hairy.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:52

I remember pouring over Google maps trying to work out the location of the camping pods.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 26/09/2015 23:03

My grandad has a cuckoo clock that used to belong to his dad.

Every year, at the day and time of his death, the clock stops.

Not sure how grandad has to get it going agin!

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 26/09/2015 23:15

Where is the unexplained topic? I can't find it.

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 26/09/2015 23:16

Never mind, I've found it. It's under Other Stuff.

No idea how I missed it before.

Upwiththisiwillnotput · 26/09/2015 23:23

When my DD was little (between 2-4) she had an imaginary friend called Granny Mary. Granny Mary liked knitting and making cakes, and DD used to talk about looking after baby Joe.
My DM died when DD was 2 months old. Her name was not Mary but a similar (Irish equivalent) which would have been unpronounceable to a 2 year old. She had a much younger brother, called Joe, who she used to babysit, and of course she loved knitting and baking.
I like to think DM was watching over DD, but I do realise it could all be nonsense!

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 23:27

I'm loving all these!

How scary imagine a creature/werewolf running after you on 2 legs Shock

Simon it could have been something that had escaped from a private zoo.

LadyShirazz · 26/09/2015 23:36

Why am I reading this at this time of night??

Runs away back to the vomiting thread...

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 26/09/2015 23:42

Just finished reading Ultra's story on that thread. It was odd. It kind of read like a weird dramatic novel.

The debunking thread was posted in Chat so it's gone now but I'm curious to know whether the thread in Chat was started by Ultra and someone ended up debunking it later on on that thread or if it was started by someone else with the intention to debunk it.

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 23:45

I know it will likely bug me know as I'd have liked to have seen the debunking it was probably very obvious!

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 26/09/2015 23:46

I'm curious to know how her story was debunked.

Liomsa · 26/09/2015 23:56

Toads, the person who pointed out the first draft of a novel inconsistencies in the camping pods/ Tristan and Molly story was me, several dozen name changes ago. No connection at all to the OP, the clunkiness of the story just cracked me up!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 23:58

I still believe!

Maybe she went back and there was an awful accident!

katemiddletonsothermum · 26/09/2015 23:58

I live in a 200 year old house but the atmosphere is completely neutral. Nothing. Zilch. We moved from a rental property which was built in the 1970s and that was a weird place. I could hear children laughing during the day, but we were nowhere near a school and there were no children living in the road. Both DH and I have been in the house alone on separate occasions and both of us have heard footsteps upstairs. It was the coldest house we'd ever lived in. We'd turn the thermostat up to 30 degress, but the temperature gauge only ever said 13 degrees. The house looked lovely in the estate agents details, ie warm, sunny, friendly, clean.... but as soon as we moved in the house felt cold, hostile and unwelcoming. I got terrible depression in that house and couldn't bear to be in it. When we moved out I took one last look around the place and it felt warm and friendly again, just how it was when I initially looked round.

I really think that the house didn't want us living there. It's been put on the market and I drove past it yesterday. It's still on the market, despite being in an area of high demand where houses sell very very quickly.

ladybird69 · 27/09/2015 00:11

my whole family seem to attract spirits and ghosts. we've seen lots and experienced lots. I've even seen ufo with my immediate family. I thinks it's all related time travel forwards and backwards.
we were living in a new modern house and decided to extend which led to uncovering stable yard belonging to big mansion nearby. from then onwards I was kept company by a dear cheeky little stable lad feeding youngest dds whilst sitting alone in morning watching gmtv and bumped into lady all in black maybe housekeeper or governess whenever I'd go to one of my 4 children who was crying in the night, as if she'd been to tell them Mummy's on her way. I apologised until I realised nobody else could see her. over time thanked her again and again.
lots more if anyone interested.

BitOfFun · 27/09/2015 00:19

Liomsa, do you remember how you dismantled the fantasy? I wish I'd seem it! I didn't believe the Tristram and Molly bollocks for a minute Grin

BitOfFun · 27/09/2015 00:23

I've just read it again- you could drive a truck through it Grin

SilverNightFairy · 27/09/2015 01:02
