Time for another spooky stories thread?

I know how much I enjoyed reading previous scary story threads so thought I'd start another and start with my own.

Now I always thought I had imagined this but after meeting up with my sister last week and getting on to this found out she remembers this too.

We both had a friend in the village who lived in a long house with an old barn out back, looked fairly normal had a ladder in the middle which took you up to the top level and the roof had a roof light window in it. Anyway this friend told us it was haunted and we thought she was having us on until she knocked on the door and an almighty bang answered, this kept happening. Then once it had stopped stuff started flying out of the roof window! Old sacks and old stove kettles etc! We were so scared but went in and no one was in there just totally empty. We then went in the house and said to friends mum and she said it must have been her dad but her dad was in the living room!

Needless to say I've never forgotten this and my sister obviously hasn't either.

So now I've started anyone else want to add any??

I have two scary stories and one lovely one. Neither happened to me but both happened to completely sensible non woo matter of fact people I know very well.
My nice one happened at my mums old house. All the men on my mums side look very similar and in old photos you have to check which uncle/cousin you are looking at. We had one uncle staying with us and I was sat in the sun lounge just me and him in the house. It was always the most calming room and everyone just felt at peace in there. I heard a noise and turned round and saw my uncle, asked if he was alright and he said yes, then I asked if he fancied a tea and he said love one girl and he walked out the door Got up made the tea went back sat down and after 20 minutes thought this tea is getting cold, went and shouted up the stairs oi I've made your tea and my uncle comes out his room in his dressing gown asking why I've done that. Thinking back my uncle has never called anyone girl but my grandad did it to every woman. If he loved someone they were either girl or son.

A psychic came to the house a few years later and demanded to work in the sun lounge as she said someone there was watching over us and keeping us safe. Literally she just walked in the house said hello to everyone and walked straight to the sun lounge.

We felt really sad when we sold the house as we were worried grandad wouldn't come back again. BUT two weeks ago in mums new house we were all sat in the new sun lounge having a cigarette, got up to start Sunday roast, came back in and found the most perfect large white feather under the ashtray. I think he found us.

The poster who pulled apart the camping pod Molly and Tristan story wrote a brilliant take down and ripped it apart, it was hilarious .

It's a shame chat disappears after 3 months, I still titter when these threads appear as her analysis was terrific.

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 21:42

That is lovely all by myself very touching

Darn it id have loved to have read that as obviously I didn't see any holes at all and thought it was an altogether plausible story

Hotpatootietimewarp, I remember the jigsaw story but haven't heard it in years! I love those old campfire ghost stories!

Allbymyselfagain · 26/09/2015 21:52

Now for a scary one. My aunt is a very no nonsense woman, she has gone through so much crap in her life, she suffers no fools. I have a very large very dysfunctional family that we mostly don't see anymore but she told me this story a few years ago when we were discussing a cousin of mine who used make me feel very uncomfortable, even as a child he scared me. He never did anything wrong I just got a creepy vibe from him.
Anyway she told me the reason my grandparents bought him up is that his mum and dad were committed to a mental hospital, back then they were devil worshippers. My aunt had gone round a few days after my cousin had been born and found them digging a small grave like hole in the garden. She grabbed the baby and ran, police came round etc. my aunt ended up having the baby for a few nights.
First night she went to bed with the baby in a cot next to her and woke up in the middle of the night with cold hands on her ankles. She was dragged upwards off the bed and held there. My uncle got on top of her and couldn't push her down and he was a big man. She said it felt like hours but must have only been minutes before they both dropped. Got the baby baptised the next day.

Does anyone remember the Scottish campsite in a snowstorm story from a previous spooky thread? The OP said they were going back to see the campsite owners and find out the background to the haunting.......she never came back did she? I think about that story a lot.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:01

Oh just seen its been covered already. Was it really fake??

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 22:01

who I think that's the same one we've just discovered was completely made up and another poster had pulled that story apart.

I go on Reddit quite a bit. Anyone read the one about the map?

OP posts:
Cerseirys · 26/09/2015 22:03

That's the one we're talking about unthread. It wasn't true!

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 22:03

Another on Reddit was the one where the boyfriend kept getting Facebook messages from his partner who had passed away?

OP posts:
Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 22:05

Oh and can anyone remember an episode of strange but true where a woman moved into a house and strange black marks kept appearing on the Lino, she tried everything and they wouldn't budge and those that did reappeared? Turned out bodies had been buried under there. Often remember it but don't know if I made it up as never found it again

OP posts:
WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:12

I like to think the Scottish one was real and she never came back as the story was too terrible to tell us!

Anyone remember the werewolf at the Dorset campsite story from years ago?

I don't know how I dare still go camping!!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:15

Can we get this moved out of chat? I hate the fact these threads disappear. Don't we have an unexplained topic now?

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 22:19

Oh I don't think I've seen the one about the werewolf!

Yeah there is an unexplained topic but I felt I'd get more traffic here Grin

OP posts:
WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:32

Maybe ask for it to be moved in a few weeks before it disappears?

Can't remember if the werewolf story was Juxs one or not. Jux had a werewolf story but it may have been a different one.

The one which sticks in my mind is a MUmsnetter and her DP are staying in a caravan site on the Dorset south coast. Or near the coast. They have a dog and take the dog for a late night wee. There's a large field next to the caravan field and they're in there. It's pitch black but good moonlight. I think one edge of the field was woodland. They're in the middle of the field

The MNer realises that something is at the edge of the field and it's stalking them. Tells her dp. They start running for the caravan and have a good head start. The thing chases them and as it runs it reveals its full height and it's like 6ft tall. They're running for their lives and get back to the caravan safely but it's fairly close behind.

That's it as best I can remember,

Gunpowder · 26/09/2015 22:33

I remember the werewolf one too. Woo threads and washing machine threads are my favourite bit of MN.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 22:34

There was a whole flurry of werewolf stories at the same time.

Someone else used to work on a farm and a dog kept worrying the sheep/lambs. So her boss and another farm hand stayed up overnight sat at the edge of the field to catch the dog in the act. They came back to the farm as white as sheets and said they'd seen a massive werewolf.

rollonthesummer · 26/09/2015 22:39

What was the made-up snowstorm camping one-can someone fill me in?

Hotpatootietimewarp · 26/09/2015 22:40

So was it like a human turning into a werewolf??? Shock

I'm going on holiday to Cornwall next year better not be any there!

BigRedBall · 26/09/2015 22:41

Has anyone read in the news today about how voodoo and witchCraft is being used by gangs in London to stop them being caught by police? They take men/boys to graveyards and make them pray to the devil. Apparently this type of witchcraft is popular in African countries. Sounds really scary.
