You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

DS1 is 6ft and has really short legs. DS2 is six foot and has legs like a baby giraffe. DH is 6 foot and pretty much in proportion. Body shapes are weird.

6 foot 2 inch DS and I are the same height when sitting on a sofa - in fact I am probably a bit taller. His legs are at least 8 inches longer than mine. Equally, his big toes are longer than my thumbs....

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/05/2021 11:07

Just remember, we’re all beautiful inside - and I’m sure will be seen by at least some others at beautiful on the outside too!

Popping in to say that Weird Fish have some jersey dresses with pockets in their sale ATM. I have the Viola in navy and it's great. Please, fellow teachers, buy the others so that I don't Grin

I'm the same height as my mum - short. I've always been bigger than her - she's a size 6/8 with 28AA boobs. I'm a size 14/16 with 34GG boobs.

When she said that if I lost weight I'd be a size 6/8 too, I got her to measure her pelvis/hip bones - mine was almost 6 inches wider. I'm never going to be a size 6. That shut her up!

FatFace
White Stuff
Seasalt
Joules
Mantaray
Boden
Mountain Warehouse

Not trendy or exciting. But I'm nearly 50, so that's ok. With cardigans and biker boots or converse or Birks. The middle aged, middle class lady uniform.

I like White Stuff's thick tights, although they fall down when I run.

Rule, you need Snags! They are amazing !

HarrietDVane · 16/05/2021 11:31

Snags are incredible. Expensive but worth it as they last forever.

I too wish that I was as slim as I was when my parents told me I was fat and put me on a diet. When I look back at photos (in which I was a size 12 hourglass) I can't believe I thought I was huge. My mother was and is a petite 8 so I always felt like a beast next to her. I am still an hourglass, just an 18/20 rather than a 12. The proportions are the same. I can't wear trousers either - same 'depth' problems as a couple of you. Trousers also either fit on the hip or at the waist but never both.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 11:32

Oh MrsHP I have big boobs too - hence going for things that fall from the boobs. I had a breast reduction in 2013 which was heaven but they have grown back after putting on weight after surgery in 2019 unfortunately. I can't cope with the ache of proper bras anymore though (I paid for the reduction myself to get rid of shoulder and neck pain) so wear stretchy cotton all in one things - my vanity has left the building on that front and I'd rather be comfortable than have perky great shaped breasts.

I have a few stone to go ideally but I'd settle for 2 and it being easy to maintain.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 11:33

Having described my shape I'm sure you can now imagine why I'm dreading a swimming costume. A big squished in blob with long limbs sticking out Blush

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 16/05/2021 12:07

Lands End bubble top type tankini tops are the way forward.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 12:13

Size 16 is as big as they go.

Mistressinthetulips · 16/05/2021 12:19

You need to click on "plus" HB next to the tankini - up to 30 something

You foul temptress! I cannot resist a swingy dress with pockets!
namechangedyetagain · 16/05/2021 12:34

Joining in thinking about clothes because I've spent all morning trying to get something written towards my essay and failing miserably. I have however eaten half a family pack of sweets and 6 rich tea biscuits. Hence nothing nice in my wardrobe fits me any more. Had to buy bigger clothes last summer and now I need to go even bigger (but have no money). I also love a frock. They're just easier than tops and bottoms for me.

In a very down period at the minute. Everyone is exhausted, class is tricky. Can't do my essay, too much evidence stuff to do and not entirely planned this week yet either. Drowning.

It’s awful at the minute but we are here to help each other through it. And we will get through it but it will be a hard slog until we do.
Hand holding with more rich tea biscuits here Brew

I have a weird body shape due to the fact I used to be a size 18 and went down to a size 8 in a year. It means I have loose skin on my stomach (like an over hang). Have to be very careful about the clothes I wear. I look better in dresses and skirts as it allows my skin to droop whereas if I wear jeans it kind of flops over the top - DH is a lucky man!

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 13:09

God mother nature is a cruel mistress eh?

motherrunner · 16/05/2021 13:11

On a plus side though, when I was pregnant I never developed stretch marks as my bump just smoothed all that skin out!

motherrunner · 16/05/2021 13:12

And I’ve got really droopy breasts as I used to be a double D and now I’m an A.

As I said, DH is very lucky 😆

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2021 13:14

Second vaccine booked. That pesky Indian variant needs to stay away from me for about 4 1/2 more weeks.

motherrunner · 16/05/2021 13:17

Good news @Piggywaspushed!

Had my second yesterday and have had no side effects at all thankfully. Didn’t want a repeat of last time. Bit of a sore arm but feeling good.

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/05/2021 13:23

Yeah I’ve been fine after my second Pfizer actually (well we’re at over 48 hrs now so I hope nothing’s going to develop!)

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/05/2021 13:24

mother, I’m sure yr DH is a lucky man! Amazing that you lost so much weight.

motherrunner · 16/05/2021 13:35

Ah thank you @JanFebAnyMonth. I lost weight over twenty years ago but still not happy with my body and rarely look at myself in a mirror. I’m proud of what my body can do such as I run long distances and I’ve even had back surgery and still run, but I don’t like the appearance of it. But I always focus on what the body can do now. How many of us carried a child? Or more? We teach, many of us full time! Despite what the media say, it’s a mentally and physically demanding job. If our bodies weren’t fit, we’d collapse. We should be proud of our endurance despite our physical flaws!
