You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Yep... Bob's grade 6 is looking unlikely. By a good three grades.

Piggywaspushed · 15/05/2021 22:08

I like Thought...ethical organic but really lovely stuff. Pockets galore . Expensive. Generous sizings.

winewolfhowls · 15/05/2021 22:08

Anyone seen the petition doing the rounds to pay teachers 400 quid for all the extra assessment marking, i had a nosy and not many had signed.

Although I'm now dreaming of how many dresses with pockets 400 quid could buy!

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/05/2021 22:21

Do Laura Ashley still put pockets in everything? I even had a ball dress with pockets, back in the day!

ArnottsUnderpass · 15/05/2021 23:09

Scotland have got the £400 haven't they?
I have popsy and fatface pocket dresses.

Was going to mark papers but my friend brought over a bottle of cold fizz so we sat under the pergola and got tipsy instead.

Mistressinthetulips · 15/05/2021 23:16

We've been told we will get £400 (pro-rata, which is a can of worms in itself) but no idea when. Wonder what is left of it after tax.

Mistressinthetulips · 15/05/2021 23:17

Sitting under the pergola with a drink and a pal sounds like bliss Smile

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/05/2021 23:46

Wouldn’t it be funny if we all turned out to have the same dress? Uniform!

I’ve not seen that petition. I’d definitely sign it. Drowning in the bloody things.

ChloeDecker · 16/05/2021 08:31

Absolutely.

And the exam board Facebook groups) for my subject at least but bet it’s the same for others) are full of posters asking about whether an answer would be acceptable or not as the Mark scheme is not always clear and there have been no ‘examiner training meetings’ and I have been shocked that the exam board subject experts are not responding to any of these posts or at least have someone that teachers can contact to ask.

Exam boards really are sitting pretty on an easy financial goldmine.

winewolfhowls · 16/05/2021 08:47

Ooh i haven't heard of popsy, is the quality equivalent to fatface?

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 16/05/2021 08:52

wine It's a very different material, kind of thick jersey. Someone with better clothes knowledge will explain! I probably wouldn't wear them not for work, but they wash v well, aren't too expensive and have pockets.

LolaSmiles · 16/05/2021 09:08

Thanks to this thread I was looking for pocket dresses at 3am.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 09:14

I’ve looked several times and then remember the recommendations aren’t at all flattering for my size. They look suitable for size 10 shortish people.

JanFebAnyMonth · 16/05/2021 09:15

I was dreaming about having a puppy last week.... it’s not remotely on my To Do list!

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2021 09:31

I am short and have never found any nice clothes chain that suits/bears in mind people with short bodies/arms/legs...

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 09:48

I’m fat in the middle with long arms and legs that are relatively slim. Dresses don’t tend to work for that as they just emphasise the big middle.

I’ve lost over 2 stone now but still a long way to go and it’s all around my middle. It’s not helped by the fact they cut through my abdominal wall from bra strap to belly button so there’s no.... structural integrity(?) there anymore.

I may shell out for a repair if I ever lose the weight I piled on after surgery. Think it’s beyond what exercise can fix according to a physio friend.

I sound hideous!

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2021 10:02

I used to be proper hourglass shaped. The bit in the middle now lets rather more sand through. I find this distressing. I can't wear trousers at all because of my body shape and short legs!

My DM (toxic parenting alert) used to tell me I was fat. I wish I could rewind time and have my teenage years again. I look at photos and I was slim. I thought I had hips the size of a large ship and a huge bum. I really really didn't.

CarrieBlue · 16/05/2021 10:08

Wonder what is left of it after tax.

More than the zero we’ll get in England Confused

It’s just all rubbishness really

cantkeepawayforever · 16/05/2021 10:10

@JanFebAnyMonth

Oh no cant! Roughly where are you?

Yes U4T more than happy not to follow guidance when it suits them.

As I have always done geography by up/down/left/right: slightly towards the bottom left. The kind of area where cases have pretty much always been low.
TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2021 10:11

Me too.

I am meant to be long and strong built but lean. Hence the fat just being gathered in the middle like the excess lump it is. I have no idea how to dress for this shape. I work in fairly slim leg soft waist trousers and whatever tops I can find that fall from the breasts rather than cling to the middle currently.

I’ve reached a point where I think less about whether I like an item of clothing than whether it will fit. I miss being slim or at least proportional

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 16/05/2021 10:15

piggy I have similar thoughts re my youth.

I have a very long thigh to waist distance and trousers generally look awful/give me a camel toe. Hence the love for dresses.

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2021 10:27

I have that issue too! Is that high or low waisted? I never know.

DS1 is 6ft and has really short legs. DS2 is six foot and has legs like a baby giraffe. DH is 6 foot and pretty much in proportion. Body shapes are weird.

MrsHerculePoirot · 16/05/2021 10:31

Honey I feel like I’m similar shape but have biggish boobs so wear dresses that sort of come in under those them just go out more mostly. Me dresses definitely fitted better last summer.... I’m on my way back down again but got about another 9lbs to get back to summer 2020 weight (then about another 2 after that 🤣)

MrsHerculePoirot · 16/05/2021 10:31

What colour nails do I want? I’m tempted to go bright orange on both toes and hands and pretend it’s summer 🤣🤣🤣
