You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Gosh it feels like a long time since we’ve checked out the Broom cupboard

@GuyFawkesDay

Oh god I've stuffed up totally. I definitely should have applied for those jobs back in March/April. Dammit. Now I'm stuck for god only knows how long with a lame duck situation.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggghhh. Rant rant rant.

Oh no guy I guess it is pretty late for stuff to come up now.

Hope something comes up soon.

GuyFawkesDay · 24/05/2021 20:38

Thank you.

I'm actually fuming tonight. Been strung along and it's all been for nothing. Cross!!
Seen a job with deadline tomorrow....

I was looking this morning-there are still a surprising number of jobs being advertised for September, though lots of MPS, which is typical! I think I’m too bloody old (expensive!) to go anywhere now though!
MrsHamlet · 24/05/2021 20:42

Do it Guy - if you fancy it, you have nothing to lose. Except sleep!

GuyFawkesDay · 24/05/2021 21:02

I'm ups3 so chances of getting anything are slim, sadly.

HarrietDVane · 24/05/2021 21:07

Another vile day here too with batshit requests for pointless paperwork being emailed thick and fast with unrealistic deadlines.

Email at lunchtime: you have not sent me the [crappy pointless paper] that I requested.

Ah yes, that would be the email you sent me at 9.32am today demanding something by midday, when I was teaching from 8.50-12.20 without a break.

Ffs.

MrsHamlet · 24/05/2021 21:13

I got no less than 9 emails today from the same person asking for info I sent in April. I resent the original emails in reply to the first 2 and then had to explain the same thing I'd already explained in the ordinal emails because they couldn't bother reading them properly.
"It might be easier if we had a meeting". No. It would be easier if you read what I wrote.

Snap.

It’s crap, isn’t it-there’s not many other jobs out there where people actively hire people without much experience, are there? Would people demand a dentist who’d only been qualified 1-2 years? Or a builder who had no more than 3 years’ experience of building extensions. I know that’s not the same, and know it’s all about money which isn’t the fault of the HT, but it just feels that experience counts for nothing now.

I always think you need some UPS folk to mop up the NQT tears in the staff room or to reassure people that the latest fad will come and go and to just give it lip service for a bit! Sadly though, at my old school it was the UPS folk who were the ones crying in the staff room when they were put on bloody support plans.

Is the job worth applying for, @GuyFawkesDay ?

GuyFawkesDay · 24/05/2021 21:34

Could be. Local small MAT, outstanding school in v leafy area. I know the MAT and some staff there.

Deadline is tomorrow though and I've not discussed with head or anyone. Arse.

Actually think I want a promotion really. Sideways move isn't a great one....

LolaSmiles · 24/05/2021 21:41

MrsHamlet
I hate those sorts of emails.
One of these days I will be brave enough to set my email signature as lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

ChloeDecker · 24/05/2021 21:44

Bloody inspired Lola!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/05/2021 21:47

That would be a great email signature Smile

I best go see what state the broom cupboard is in. I don't think there's much room in there either.

HarrietDVane · 24/05/2021 21:48

I love that, Lola! I shall adopt it as my personal mantra. I am continually astonished by some of my senior colleagues' lack of forward planning skills. We all get unexpected emergencies from time to time, but some of them seem to lurch from predictable crisis to predictable crisis.

JanFebAnyMonth · 24/05/2021 21:49

Oo I’ve checked honey, all fine, those chairs which we weren’t allowed in the actual Staff room are still stacked in there.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 24/05/2021 21:51

I'm convinced lack of forward planning is a prerequisite on the interview to become SLT at our place. That would mean SLT positions actually had interviews thought... hollow laugh.

I have sent 7 emails asking the same question and have had no reply.

Followed by a panicked phone call because the outpatients clinic needed the product. That would be the product I’ve sent 7 e-mails telling you we are discontinuing and asking which of 2 alternatives you’d like. And I know you’ve read them because I put read receipts on the last 6.

At least it was better than the slightly stroppy ‘I’m future please can you refrain from fulfilling orders we didn’t mean to send’. Yes. Just give me a bit of time to hone my mind reading skills. 😂

MrsHamlet · 24/05/2021 21:51

Apart from ineptitude, one of the things which most irks me is when people assume I am as inept as they are.
It's my job to do the thing. I did the thing before you asked me to do the thing. I emailed you the thing, and now you want me to explain the thing I've already explained. FFS!

Oh, I can completely identify with this!
noblegiraffe · 24/05/2021 22:36

Well that naughty class thread barely scraped any posts and most of them were blaming the parents. It didn't seem to be used as an excuse to moan about crappy teachers with poor behaviour management.

Have a whole bunch of wankers quit MN? Is it the pubs re-opening?

It feels a bit weird.

Either they are all out campaigning for better mental health services for ALL children or they don’t have to look after their own kids at home any more so couldn’t give a toss.....

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/05/2021 23:01
