You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Have unfollowed some people on twitter after vile comments about Prince Phillip. People forget he was a husband, father etc and a family is mourning his death. I shed a tear or two watching the news.

"Have unfollowed some people on twitter after vile comments about Prince Phillip."
What is the matter with people? It doesn't matter what one thinks of the institution that is the Royal Family, or him personally (although I doubt any of them have ever met him), but they should show a little decency and respect, ffs.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/04/2021 15:17

Hello! We collected our puppy today, moved yesterday to rental. A million things to sort out but I’ve watched a puppy sleep for 2 hours.... 🤣

CallmeHendricks · 09/04/2021 15:35

Aw! What sort of dog have you got yourself?
Can't beat a puppy for time-wasting!

noblegiraffe · 09/04/2021 16:10

Spot the pea-head.

WTAF?

And they can't spell dizziness, FFS.

CallmeHendricks · 09/04/2021 16:41

Was just thinking the same, piggy.

MrsHamlet · 09/04/2021 16:49

"Inform your head of year"?
That'd go down like a cup of cold sick...

GuyFawkesDay · 09/04/2021 17:08

Oh I am so wanting a dog, enjoy the puppy cuddles!!

I too am sad for the queen and her family. He's been their steady in turbulent times and I knew people who worked with him regularly and said he was very warm, quick-witted and funny and loved to wind up officious people by going the wrong way down line ups to meet etc. He sounds like he was good fun to be around and very loved by his family. Matters not what my views on monarchy are, I'm sad for them. He did a lot of great work.

I'm still procrastinating about marking though I'll probably avoid the total takeover of the telly by the news and do some work tonight. They've cancelled Gardeners World. Pfft!!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/04/2021 17:16

Birbalsingh has made this about the 'education system' now as well as everything else. If only we had silent corridors, no one would comment unfavourably about the monarchy.

Piggywaspushed · 09/04/2021 17:19

I saw that. What a ridiculous woman. Obviously no one would do this if every school had a Union Jack and a picture of the queen and Boris in the foyer.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/04/2021 17:20

I just had to mute her on Twitter. I'm done with her hot take on everything.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/04/2021 17:21

Have you heard the transition into the news on Radio 1 Dance? It's ace:

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/04/2021 17:23

I'm trying to work - I'm not there yet, I still don't give a shit. Just bought into Hamilton Trust.

Piggywaspushed · 09/04/2021 17:28

I have only just read her bio : truth on race . Truth?? That's quite a statement.

Saucery · 09/04/2021 17:49

Make the most of that sleepiness, MrsHercule, it really doesn’t last Grin

Never watch the news or live tv so all the rescheduling won’t bother me. As a great grandfather, grandfather and father I am sure he will be greatly missed and when all’s said and done, that’s what truly matters.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/04/2021 17:54

@Saucery don’t tell me that 🤣 how long will it last?!?! He’s a Labrador!

Saucery · 09/04/2021 17:57

Ermmmm, about 24-48 hours. Then they settle in.......

Joking apart, they need 18-20 hours of sleep a day. The trick when they are settled in to your household is to convince them that they need it. We’ve had a lot of ‘past your sell by date’ moments in our house over the last month. Grin “Does she need a sleep or a poo?” is a question we are very familiar with (the answer is usually both!).

noblegiraffe · 09/04/2021 18:33

Opinion on race doesn't have the same ring, piggy, but putting it in her bio does seem to be setting herself up as a spokesperson.

Are there any other black headteachers with a public voice I could follow?

Piggywaspushed · 09/04/2021 18:43

Alison Kriel, Evelyn Forde?

noblegiraffe · 09/04/2021 18:59

Thanks piggy, have followed. Good to have more women too!

Mary Bousted has tried to damage limit the NEU no exclusions thing by saying they will choose to interpret it as no exclusions from education not school, and that sometimes alternative provision will be necessary.

KB is getting more ridiculous by the second. I didn't think she'd be the edutwitter Easter meltdown candidate.

Brilliant.

Have you seen the kerfuffle the news flash banner saying major news update caused on Cbeebies? To be honest I would have thought terror attack or something like that had I not known.

LolaSmiles · 09/04/2021 19:59

I quite like KB, even if I disagree with her on many things.
I've not been enjoying her tweets this week though.
