You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Hello!

HarrietDVane · 06/04/2021 23:48

Hello - thanks for the new thread Staff! I haven't been anywhere near organised enough to book a hair appointment so will be rocking the overgrown bob for a while longer.

Thanks for the new thread, Staff

MN has gone mad (presumably because it's the holidays). I keep reading bonkers covid conspiracy theories along the lines of microchips in the vaccines and instead of Hmm people are nodding and going ' hmm yes, microchips in the vaccines, it's scary isn't it?'.

Has anyone else noticed?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 07/04/2021 00:08

Yep. Lots of 'I knew it was bigger than just a virus...'. Dickheads.

CallmeHendricks · 07/04/2021 00:34

'Evening all.

Morning all! Woke up about an hour ago.. been listening to Steve Allen on LBC but he's making me hungry talking about food.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/04/2021 06:05

Morning. I feel like if there were robots in there they would have made me more productive. Just marking place in case mn goes caput again. Thanks for new thread.

motherrunner · 07/04/2021 06:28

Morning all! We had a blizzard for a few hours last night and there’s still snow down now ☃️

Gav’s been solving out problems again - this time no phones and detentions. (Slow hand clap for his forward thinking initiative)

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/04/2021 07:19

Morning all. Yesterday's weather was weird, sunshine and snow at the same time!!

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/04/2021 07:25

Gav really thinks schools are thick doesn't he? Fancy thinking we need support to implement phone bans and give out detentions Hmm

borntobequiet · 07/04/2021 07:34

He’s so full of shit. The man should have a degree in stating the bleeding obvious. Maybe they need “behaviour hubs” for arsey non mask compliant parents and others who actively attempt to undermine safety in schools.

borntobequiet · 07/04/2021 07:39

I did like this comment though, from Kev (whose name I have graced with a capital K):
I saw a family yesterday , walking to the park and the kids were not even in a straight line , even worse , they were not lined up in height order , we need order , so Mr Williams I share your angst .

BigBobBoots · 07/04/2021 07:42

Good morning all! Thanks for the new thread staff.

MrsHamlet · 07/04/2021 07:46

Morning! It's sunny here but I am not looking forward to going for a picnic... it's bloody cold.
Must phone hairdresser again today.

Saucery · 07/04/2021 07:46

Good (frosty!) morning! Thank you for our new thread, Staff

Morning everyone Grin

I am booked in at the hairdressers on the 24th so will be rocking the scarecrow look for the first week Confused

There have been a lot of weird threads lately -I ventured to other parts of MN and it was quite strange. Back to the safety of staffroom for me!

I have another week and a half off but not relishing the thought of TAGs next half term- planning for it has been bad enough. Hoping to get ahead with stuff over Easter but tbh, I've done sod all work so far! Been relaxing, done park trips with DS plus stuff at home - we were volcano making yesterday Grin

DH is working today so doubt I'll do much work today (plus, the volcano is dry so want to do the eruption and DS wants to write about it in his school journal).

I have a unit of work to write for the faculty, quite a lot on some curriculum development which is part of my appraisal plus sorting my own lessons out. It's not going to disappear unfortunately so must get going tomorrow!

I went running yesterday too but slipped on ice and fell so not the best run ever Sad my saving grace is I am rural so no one saw me fallGrin

Piggywaspushed · 07/04/2021 08:01

Morning and thanks staff. Just to be pedantic, is it not the 55th??

Gav seems to be echoing Tom Bennett's Twitter spats so he has been meeting him, I guess.

We have a sort of phone ban but lockdown taught me how good it was to be able to get students to research something during a lesson and we have no computers. So, I shall continue to let (older) kids use phones if it facilitates their learning. Rebel me.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 07/04/2021 08:02

Thanks staff.

Work free holiday here. First day back is planned and the rest can get done during term time. Had to draw some boundaries for my own MH.

MN is a joke, glad I don't pay!

Piggywaspushed · 07/04/2021 08:03

Perhaps the bonkers people on MN are the only ones who can get through Apache flaming Tomcat and oops!

Piggywaspushed · 07/04/2021 08:08

It isn't that long since Gav said (to a different paper) that behaviour was much improved.

It doesn't say much for parenting does it if time at home makes kids wild and undisciplined?

Elephant in the room that.
