That thread was hilarious. Yes, it was teacher bashing, but it was in such a ludicrous way that it didn't feel awful

On the theme of sleeping at school When I was an nqt I volunteered to help staff a year seven school sleepover (pretty sure this sort of thing wouldn’t be allowed to happen these days) but essentially it involved year seven watching a film, eating pizza and then sleeping in the school hall - about 3am I had enough and snuck off to my classroom for a power nap - I had a bad back for weeks!

These are unprecedented times. As 2021 dawns, the pandemic is worsening hour by hour. The new variant of Covid-19 means the virus is spreading through our communities at an alarming rate.

Infection rates are at their highest since March and our health service is struggling to cope with a tidal wave of new cases. Ambulances are queuing outside hospitals in the worst-affected areas, with patients being treated in car parks and some hospitals having to transfer intensive care Covid patients hundreds of miles to receive the care they need.

In light of this growing crisis, the National Education Union (NEU) has called an emergency meeting of our union’s executive, which will take place tomorrow.

After the meeting, we will be issuing new and urgent advice regarding the proposed opening of primary schools on 4 January.

It is vital that you keep an eye on social media and your email inbox as our new advice will impact on staff returning to school on Monday.

To explain this advice in greater detail, we are holding an emergency all-member Zoom call on Sunday, 3 January.

We are education professionals and we all want schools to be open for all pupils. But urgent action is needed to protect our communities and make schools safe.

I actually slept in the office for a week when I worked in the city. Was during IRA stuff and we couldn't reliably get in. I was 23 and we had camp beds provided. Was fun for one night and then v v horrible as too much snoring. And quite a few affairs 😳

If they've announced it for London, surely it has to be all of Tier 4, or there will be accusations of London bias again?

I have told NASUWT I'm switching on the basis of their woeful advice to parents with childcare issues

We had a call from test and trace today following our regular ONS study tests. My 4 year old is positive....we are waiting to hear about the rest of us. We had haven't been anywhere at all since the end of term...she is fine, totally fine but I am blindsided tbh.
