You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Just shocking how the DfE are able and willing to blatantly lie about test accuracy. There seem to be no limits to how low the government will go.

I wonder if January exam students attend means that those taking real, external exams e.g. BTEC will attend for their exam? That's what ours are doing -just attending in person for the exam.

@starrynight19

Chloe maybe they won’t get their bonus now Grin
But someone has been sooo busy tweeting pointless messages about how safe schools are all through the holidays-I’m sure they’ll be demanding their extra cash!!
Mistressiggi · 01/01/2021 15:22

Thanks for the new thread

NeurotreeWenceslas · 01/01/2021 15:29

Hi and thanks!

GravityFalls · 01/01/2021 15:33

We’re having January exam students in for any lesson before their exam - so I’ll see my BTEC group on Tuesday as they have an exam on Wednesday.

eitak22 · 01/01/2021 15:33

My friend who works in a 6th form said hes in Mon,Tues for exams then remote learning for wed. Cant believe our government forgers entire schools (middle schools) or qualifications (BTEC). Just shows a level of incompetence and assumption that every school is like a private school.

Had a nice chilled day today just trying to ignore the idea of being back at work on Mon.

SaltyAF · 01/01/2021 15:46

So will BTEC pupils also be in for their normal GCSE timetable? Confused I suppose so due to transport issues.

@starrynight19

Is this version 4 ?

January exam students back next week now ?

I do wish the DfE would put version numbers on their publications so that there can be proper tracking of what was issued when, Maybe Meg could bring this up next time she meets with Head of DfE seeing as she seems to be one of the few people with balls in Parliament

That's without Wales, Scotland or NI reporting today! Or are tomorrow's numbers likely to be lower because of that?

Hercwasonasnowball · 01/01/2021 15:57

Poor child Sad

I'm having huge anxiety about masks on all in classrooms. I'm OK with it in corridors and most staff shout at me or don't mind if I need stuff repeating. I'm really going to struggle hearing the kids though. I already do with the few that wear them now. Sorry this is such a stupid whinge when my rational head knows masks are best for the safety of us all.

Hercwasonasnowball · 01/01/2021 15:58

Starry is that different to the one they did about 3pm yesterday? Lemme check twitter!

JanuaryChill · 01/01/2021 15:58

Not stupid at all herc

Iamnotthe1 · 01/01/2021 15:59

Santa

But then everyone would know how many changes there have been.

ChloeDecker · 01/01/2021 15:59

Not a stupid whinge. None of this is easy on teachers.

FiggyPuddingFiend · 01/01/2021 16:00

Those saying 98% accuracy is a lie, it isn't technically a lie it is getting the statistics to say what you want them to say. They are 98% accurate if you have a positive result, as in if you have a positive result there is a 98% chance you do actually have covid. Unfortunately they also give a high number of false negatives - they only pick up between 3 - 50% of positives.

Cracklefraggle · 01/01/2021 16:01

My DD is 8. Feel physically sick at the thought of her going back on Monday. Feel sick at the thought of primary colleagues going back to 'normal' on Monday.
Flowers to everyone feeling the same.

Timeturnerplease · 01/01/2021 16:02

Oh my goodness, an eight year old.
