You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Brilliant choc

Just had NASUWT email. Anyone else? No sect 44.

Tempted to switch to NEU. If I switch now can I still sect 44??!

HarrietDVane · 02/01/2021 21:59

Brilliant @chocolateisavegetable - don't know whether to laugh or cry! Maybe both.

@HercwasanEnemyofEducation - what are NASUWT saying if not s44?

Piggywaspushed · 02/01/2021 22:02

NASUWT email is o different from prior stance. Wimps. All about risk assessments.

Piggywaspushed · 02/01/2021 22:03

no different

KatherineOfGaunt · 02/01/2021 22:04

@HarrietDVane We're supposed to ask to see an updated risk assessment!

DON’T • Refuse to attend the workplace without advice from the NASUWT, if the steps above have not resolved your concerns the NASUWT will provide you with tailored advice about what to do next based on your circumstances.

Ugh

AFIAK you can sect 44 at any time? But I might be wrong? If you know the NEU rep at your school, it might be worth asking them?

But I think it's not like a strike, it's on an individual basis, so you can start it at any time?

mumsneedwine · 02/01/2021 22:09

Anyone can use Section 44 at any time. It's part of the Employment Rights Act 1976 and is law (I have an employment law past which my SLT hate 😂😊).

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 02/01/2021 22:13

Thanks both.
Frustrated by the toothless NAS response. Its out biggest union in school and I'm not always in agreement with the NEU but they've shown some strength here.

Grin Chloe I often wonder if Becky from twinkl is on here and how she feels about her worksheets being described this way Smile
Someone from Twinkl must have been at one point, they once got their lawyers to e-mail MN and ask for some posts to be removed.

Don’t all die of shock, but there are actual children, sittting quite close together in the photo with this story.

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 02/01/2021 22:23

A bit late but team SFA here as well.... Well sort of - I did all my planning for this next week in the last week of term. Including putting PowerPoints, links, and worksheets up on SMH for any self isolators
Unfortunately I need to completely rejig it anyway as we've had an additional inset the last Friday, and another planned this Monday, and everything else that has happened...

Would it be very bad if I broke my Dry January already and start again when I know wtaf the plan is??

Why can they not link the top headline with the bottom one ?

A past? Please tell me it was in "the real world"
JanuaryChill · 02/01/2021 22:26

UNISON have now published on Fb a link to a sample letter (and to a petition), will come back when have looked at the content!

No individual email yet though....

RigaBalsam · 02/01/2021 22:27

@mumsneedwine

Why can they not link the top headline with the bottom one ?
Exactly. It's really clear to read on the sky news app if anyone wants to.
WherethebejesusisGav · 02/01/2021 22:28

I love the juxtaposition of the headline with the story at the bottom Riga

MrsHamlet · 02/01/2021 22:28

Furlough our children's futures?! What the fuck? That doesn't even make sense!
I always tell my kids not to write about the alliteration because it's not the alliteration doing the work. Year 11... I was wrong. In the case it is. I just don't know what it means.

JanuaryChill · 02/01/2021 22:29

PUAUS say Boris is on Andrew Marr tomorrow morning - wonder how far in advance that was planned? Could be about Brexit ???

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 02/01/2021 22:30

Furlough futures WTF
