You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

MrsHamlet · 14/12/2020 22:09

My a level lesson today was about language and gender so we spent a fair chunk of time discussing rude words for men and women. I cannot believe that we didn't come up with "twatwaffle". Should I post it on teams for them?

ChloeDecker · 14/12/2020 22:09

Oh gosh, I missed that Ange! Too caught up in trying to plan for today. I bow down to your play on words!

ChloeDecker · 14/12/2020 22:16

Should I post it on teams for them?
It would be the responsible thing to do Wink

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 22:17

I was clearly on a roll, what with my own name-change. And I said that surely you could do something with Deck the Halls.

Anyhow, dig out that password and get on with it!! Xmas Grin

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 14/12/2020 22:29

Nailed it!

MsAwesomeReindeer · 14/12/2020 22:36

Signing in. I thought you'd all gone quiet, didn't think the thread might be full 🤦 Anyway, I found you eventually.

DecemberStar · 14/12/2020 22:41

Me too 🌟

DecemberStar · 14/12/2020 22:42

Noble I guess you're too growed up to try morphing into trustydonkey or similar.....

MsAwesomeReindeer · 14/12/2020 22:43

I've just caught up on the broom cupboard. That email Bob!! Who do they think they are speaking to like that? How on earth are people supposed to take responsibility to remain healthy? Illness isn't a punishment for bad behaviour that we can avoid. If you're Ill your ill!!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/12/2020 22:48

Right, I've done my bit on the Greenwich thingy closing schools threads, I'm going to log out. Trying to get to bed earlier.

DecemberStar · 14/12/2020 22:55

Me too rule! Night night.

AllDoneIn · 14/12/2020 23:39

To be honest at this stage the unions need to get their collective thumbs out of their collective backsides and start demanding safe working conditions for their members.

Hah, at least one of my tribute acts is still posting so fiddling with my username might make people think I’m trying to pass myself off as me.

Who was it that asked which country would be next to close schools?

It’s S Korea which is a bit unexpected.

The number of new cases a day that’s triggered this move to online learning? 718

SaltyAF · 15/12/2020 03:37

I can't sleep. I'm worried about the rest if this week and January fills me with despair. With primaries closed here and not accepting teachers' children, DS has developed a little cough so my childcare plans are looking uncertain this week (DH is already doing the majority).

January is a scarier prospect altogether. We will lose 50% of our income if primaries stay shut, while parents who can WfH can continue to do so with no financial loss. I would literally be better off I'll with Covid because at least then I'd get sick pay. Imagine being a worker who wouldn't even get that.

I'm too of that is an ongoing bullying issue with DD at school, and the boy who's doing it is accessing key worker childcare sonic they do end up accepting my DCs she's got the prospect of that, intensified, to contend with.

I'm sorry for this miserable post. I don't have a cheerful though at the moment. Have to be up at 6 for my 35 mile commute so thought dumping it here might help me to sleep.

SaltyAF · 15/12/2020 03:38

Sorry about the crappy typos.

monkeytennis97 · 15/12/2020 03:50

Hope you are dropping back into slumberland @SaltyAF x I'm here too x

echt · 15/12/2020 04:29

I'm back from the bit of Victoria with no internet or potable water. But with sun, echidnas, kooks and wallabies.

Jesus. All this just so they can say the schools remained open. And this is what this is about.

Completely reprehensible fuckers.Angry

Morning all. I didn't sleep too well as DH was snoring Xmas Angry

The day doesn't look too bad today. Need to narrate an assembly PowerPoint- I hate recording myself and I hate listening back to check it but it needs to be done so I'll have to grit my teeth.

Does anyone else feel 'different' to the usual end of term? It just doesn't feel as festive to me - maybe it's because we can't gather in the usual way or bring in festive treats etc.

Feel like everyone is just crawling to Friday!

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 15/12/2020 06:28

Steeling myself for the usual chorus of are we doing anything fun today. I normally have no patience for it anyway but considering the sacrifices of wider society and that we are literally risking our health when we go to work no fucking way am I doing something fun.

SquashedFlyBiscuitsForSanta · 15/12/2020 06:30

Hey @saltyAF and @monkeytennis97 hope you and others who slept badly make it through the day. We're all behind you. X
