You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

You're all very impressive with your name changes.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 15/12/2020 21:14

Gosh, we had a massive take-up for flu this year. More than ever before.

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 15/12/2020 21:14

Monkey😊 "I'm just a fan Alan" Tennis.

PumpkinPie2016 · 15/12/2020 21:15

Wow @CallmeAngelGabriel go you (and your son!) At least of you ever get fed up.of teaching you could fit washers as an alternative Xmas Grin

@Piggyinblankets love the name!

Today was pretty good but Y11 were noisy Xmas Confused we finished the topic though so tomorrow is consolidation questions and then quiz /Seneca on Thursday as that's my last lesson with them.

Found a colleague from another department crying bless her Xmas Sad covered part of her lesson as I was free.

Got some jobs done but my head is mush -I couldn't even plan a basic lesson for after Christmas today Xmas Confused

MsAwesomeReindeer · 15/12/2020 21:15

We still send paper permission slips for important things like jabs. We get a far higher response r rate that way. Dd's school do the same. Email for most things but important stuff is paper based.

Flagsfiend · 15/12/2020 21:18

I would have a go at the mixing bit, I used to work in a (chemistry) lab - I'd be quite happy mixing things together and analysing results. But only instead of part of my normal job, not as well as.

Any suggestions for how to christmasify my name?

noelgiraffe · 15/12/2020 21:18

Ange I’m always telling kids there’s money to be made in being a female plumber, something to think of on all those threads where they try to suggest teachers couldn’t quit teaching as they have no other skills.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 15/12/2020 21:22

Right, joining you all with the Christmas name change!

Today felt like a week-can’t believe it’s only Tuesday!!

Come on Friday....Xmas Smile

CallmeAngelGabriel · 15/12/2020 21:25

I was damned if I was going to let it defeat me (plus too mean to pay for a plumber to come out and do the plumbing equivalent of changing a lightbulb).
Mind you, I nearly changed my mind when he made ME squeeze behind the machine into the small alcove and got stuck to feed the pipe through the hole to him, on his back under the cupboards with the torch. Then we got the giggles and it all got messy.
Plus I realised what a slattern I am on the cleaning front. My floor is filthy!

Piggyinblankets · 15/12/2020 21:26

Ahahahaha noelgiraffe !! That'll fox them!! Xmas Grin

CallmeAngelGabriel · 15/12/2020 21:26

I'm totally stuck on flagsfiend.

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 15/12/2020 21:31

Why is it that trying to produce a "fun" lesson takes twice as long as a regular one?
Am close to saying bugger it and sticking Shrek on!

MrsHamlet · 15/12/2020 21:33

We're specifically and definitely banned from
fun lessons.

Piggyinblankets · 15/12/2020 21:35

All I can do is figsfiend

Which is a bit shit.

Piggyinblankets · 15/12/2020 21:36

We are doing remote learning on Friday.

And must not do quizzes or remotely have any kind of remote fun.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 15/12/2020 21:37

Year 11 are writing to persuade on Friday. Letters to Santa :)

MrsChristmasHamlet · 15/12/2020 21:38

figgyfiend?

noelgiraffe · 15/12/2020 21:42

Flagsfieggypudding?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 15/12/2020 21:42

I’m always telling kids there’s money to be made in being a female plumber

I come from a family of electricians. I'd like to be a carpenter. I do all that stuff at home - skirtings, shelving, I can do build in wardrobes - I love a major Ikea hack. That would be what I did if I gave up teaching. My problem is I'd have to be a joiner rather than a chippy - I couldn't do roof joists as I'm not strong enough.

GleamingBaubles · 15/12/2020 21:43

@Piggyinblankets

We are doing remote learning on Friday.

I suppose that's one way to ensure no kids log in! 🤣 Got any presents to wrap or cards to write?
Loshad · 15/12/2020 21:43

We aren’t allowed to do anything “fun” , christmassy or films if we have any kids joining us on teams
That’ll be all the lessons off the fun rota then

noelgiraffe · 15/12/2020 21:45

My problem is I'd have to be a joiner rather than a chippy

My problem is that I don’t even know what those things are. I’m rubbish at DIY.

Hercwasonaroll · 15/12/2020 21:46

We're banned from fun because we have so much catch up as they have missed so much learning (apparently).

I'm doing a quiz Friday, don't think anyone's going to sack me for it.

GleamingBaubles · 15/12/2020 21:46

Flagsfiendishlygoodmincepies? Bit long Maybe Grin

noelgiraffe · 15/12/2020 21:47

I might have said to Y13 ‘The DfE have said it’s of vital importance that you are in school learning till the last day of term and you have mocks in Jan that might yet be used for CAGs. We are NOT playing the bloody Pirate Game’

Maybe some Christmas calculated colouring though.
