You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

When is the data produced the one where it shows the school graphs?

AllDoneIn · 10/12/2020 17:49

Why oh why oh why can we not go remote next week?

Augustbreeze · 10/12/2020 17:49

London Kent and Essex PH teams are going to be a bit busy next week then, aren't they?!

BreadSaucery · 10/12/2020 17:50

You’re right on your thread, noblegiraffe. I am in the North and I AM furious. I don’t have the words to articulate how angry I am that only when it affects London is something done about testing.

AnyoneseenGav · 10/12/2020 17:52

I'm looking for Gavin again.

Has he been here?

Gavin??? Gav! Where are youuuuuuuuuuu??

noblegiraffe · 10/12/2020 17:52

Not surprised, Saucery, it is totally and utterly unacceptable. I'd be incandescent.

Hope the north sees that the Tories really don't give a shit about them.

Absolutely. I'm really worried about all the incompetent government decisions are widening the north/south divide. Wars have been started over less.
ChloeDecker · 10/12/2020 17:57

Cats out of the bag now. Covid is rampant in South London secondaries.

And that’s where I am! This has all been a joke to get to this point and so many teachers, children and parents have been hung out to dry!

TheHoneyBadger · 10/12/2020 18:01

So next week they'll be wanting to test kids-how big is the uptake going to be when they know a positive result would mean the whole family isolating for 2 weeks over Christmas? Why do they leave everything too late?

ChloeDecker · 10/12/2020 18:01

I meant to say ‘all over the country’ a test the end there!

WhenSheWasBad · 10/12/2020 18:02

I’m actually shocked the government has finally admitted schools are a source of transmission. Honestly thought they’d just keep lying (government has form for this).

As a Northerner I’m slightly pissed off it too spread in London to make the difference.

Danglingmod · 10/12/2020 18:08

Also incandescent. The fact they were even discussing it on R4 this morning re "should we close London schools?" when the media ignored Manchester, Liverpool, the NE and Hull... Full on rage.

And now this... My area has rares the same as London still. Not. A. Word.

Augustbreeze · 10/12/2020 18:08

Solidarity to all northern staff on here. I'd like to hear the govt's answer to why they didn't do this in Hull, GM, etc.

Talking of northern brethren (sisteren?), I hope @NeurotrashWarrior's OK, we haven't heard from her recently.

Am guessing Gav is hiding .

Danglingmod · 10/12/2020 18:09

(I'm not north, I'm Midlands. But just look at how ignored Leicester was... The Education Secretary and PM didn't even know they start back a week early there. The fucking Midlands exists even less than the North to the media.)

Augustbreeze · 10/12/2020 18:14

"We need to do everything to stop the spread in school-age children now," Mr Hancock said. (BBC report).

He might live to regret saying that.....

mumsneedwine · 10/12/2020 18:15

Please don't blame us down south ! We have been shouting about unsafe schools since Spring too. It's disgusting what the government done ignoring northern and midlands areas - but not our fault. We are all together in this I hope. We are being treated like 💩

Danglingmod · 10/12/2020 18:17

No one is blaming you, mumsneedwine!

You can't help being the golden child Wink

But schools are completely safe, no? Children don’t catch and transmit Covid, no?

Dickheads. The lot of ‘em.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 10/12/2020 18:21

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh! That is all really.

Appuskidu · 10/12/2020 18:22

One of mine (own) got sent home today to self isolate for 14 days. Things aren’t too bad in my primary but it is tearing through my eldest’s school so really hoping we don’t get another phone call next week for them.

BreadSaucery · 10/12/2020 18:26

Oh no, I’m not blaming the people who live down South! Just the ones in Govt and Public Health. They can get to fuck.

mumsneedwine · 10/12/2020 18:28

@Danglingmod I'd love to be northern ! Yorkshire is my favourite place on earth. Had the misfortune to be born in expensive London. Hard to leave family. Although retirement in seaside town is my aim.
