You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

So true. I may have looked a bit manic, hacking at the iced-up drawers with a de-icer thingy.
Got rid of some pent-up rage, however.

Cracklefraggle · 13/11/2020 20:44

Can you not put frozen peas in a zip lock bag squashed? Desparate times and all!

ChloeDecker · 13/11/2020 20:54

@CallmeAngelina

People will still stick their fingers in their ears and go “la la la” though.

namechangedyetagain · 13/11/2020 20:54

Well, if drinking wine is TS8, then I can confidently tick that one off !
And on that note (as I'm already dozing on the sofa by 845 on a Friday) I will wish you all a good night!
I'll be back by about 3am no doubt worrying about next week's lessonsGrin

MrsHamlet · 13/11/2020 21:07

I'm nervously reading the 22 pages of info about the vaccine trial and drinking gin. I've told my aunt but none of the rest of my family as I can't take the drama.

noblegiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:10

Oh Ange that article + Prosecco probably = a thread.

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2020 21:16

The Welsh stats were in The Guardian earlier , too, in their live newsfeed.

No.One. Gives. A. Shit.

Not feeling strong enough to take that one on. Have had enough.
starrynight19 · 13/11/2020 21:22

CallmeAngelina you would have much more support starting a thread about running out of ice 😔

noblegiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:23

Oh I'm on the prosecco. Grin

Danglingmod · 13/11/2020 21:27

You know you want to, Noble Wink

Appuskidu · 13/11/2020 21:30

Christ-I just saw on Twitter that Matt Hancock might replace Gav in education. I really hope that’s a joke.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 13/11/2020 21:32

@cracklefraggle good idea but I just lowered my standards and necked it without even a slice of lemon. February me would have been shocked at this behaviour!

CallmeAngelina · 13/11/2020 21:36

Bloody hell, squashed!
Is this what we school staff have been reduced to?
Does NO ONE CARE????!!!!

Augustbreeze · 13/11/2020 21:40

😆

noblegiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:40

Here you go Ange www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4078722-Secondary-schools-are-fucked-BOFFINS-ADMIT

My tone might be a bit....Friday night.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 13/11/2020 21:41

Just hope I'm not reduced to sniffing the whiteboard cleaning fluid by the end of term.

@namechangedyetagain TS8 also includes falling asleep on the sofa on a Friday evening. To get graded as outstanding for this you have to wake up at 2am freezing cold and drag yourself up to bed. Good luck!

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2020 21:42

Matt is brighter.

The worst thing about getting him, though, would be that it would be viewed as a demotion and punishment.

noblegiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:43

You can always drink the hand sanitiser before you need to stoop that low, Squashed

monkeytennis97 · 13/11/2020 21:43

What have I missed? Got a bit of a bollocking from DH tonight as "you spend your life chatting with these virtual teacher friends of yours" Oops. It's true though, need to come off MN more often as the TBs on the other threads drive me potty!

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 13/11/2020 21:46

@noblegiraffe and what would you recommend as a mixer for that? The santiser at ours is blue. I'm thinking cocktails!

noblegiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:49

Mixer? Mixer? FANCY.

I just take a slug straight from the bottle on my lanyard.

MsAwesomeDragon · 13/11/2020 21:53

My niece has just been told to self isolate for 2 weeks. Her school have sent the whole yeargroup bubble home, but the letter seems to say it's only one case. That's not the advice any more though is it? Our school is certainly only sending close contacts home, definitely not whole yeargroups.

Yeah, I don't know why but I get the impression that he is at least trying to do his job - that he's not just in it for the siphoning off of public funds. I almost see him as a year 9 who is in the "cool" boys gang, but really should be in the plodders who do their homework group Grin And at least he won't have Cummings whispering in his ear.

But yes, he might well see it as a demotion and get resentful.

Leaving space for us to have Gove in health apparently.
