Wow another thread filled up. I just can’t keep
Up. So busy with work never seem to have a minute now. Being in school full time with keyworker and teaching online is really taking it’s toll. Feeling burnt out already. Hope everyone is keeping their heads above water.
Sadly lost a friend , a college teacher, this week. 42 years old to covid. No underlying health issues so bloody sad Sad.
Nearly had a popped bubble as well but managed to avoid it due to timing in class.
I hope I can be more organised and keep up with the next thread.

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 19:01

So sorry starry.

ChloeDecker · 14/01/2021 19:08

DollyMixtureLulus · 14/01/2021 19:17

I'm so so sorry starry Flowers

HarrietDVane · 14/01/2021 19:19

I'm so sorry, Starry. It's truly awful, and it really comes home to you when it's someone you know, especially if they were young.

I can fully identify with your work situation as well - it's crazy isn't it? Juggling the Keyworker group with the home learners and trying to do your best for everyone is so draining.

At least it's Friday tomorrow!

MrsHamlet · 14/01/2021 19:24

That's so sad starry

starrynight19 · 14/01/2021 19:34

Thanks for all your comments I really appreciate it. I cannot quite get my head around it yet. They have made an amazing amount of money in her memory for my lifelong friends little girl. She passed away age 37 leaving her baby girl so this is a real legacy for her.
It just feels so detached from being in school.
Her story was in the daily express today.

Harriet yes juggling is exactly how I feel , and like I am letting someone down no matter how hard I try. Like you say Friday tomorrow.

I'm not properly caught up.

Mcvitoes · 14/01/2021 19:37

The regulator has told the government it won't approve the use of LFTs in schools for mass testing, due to inaccuracies.

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 14/01/2021 19:42

Exactly what's been said on here for weeks.

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 19:45

That's fab! (Goes off to actually read article)!

starrynight19 · 14/01/2021 19:47

Wow really , we are supposed to be testing all staff from next week.

cantkeepawayforever · 14/01/2021 19:50

I think we need to be really clear here.

What they are not supporting is the daily testing to replace isolation.

Regular weekly tests of everyone to pick up undetected infections IN ADDITION TO isolation of contacts of cases - that would be OK. the test isn't very good at doing that detection, but as any cases picked up wouldn't otherwise be detected, it is making things (slightly) safer.

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 19:51

We need more info from MRHA on this:
• doesn't sound like they know secondary students were going to be testing themselves
• Not clear from this whether it's about mass testing ("millions of pupils a week", GW) or serial testing
• Doesn't mention staff testing
• Haven't some workplaces started using these already, apart from NHS/care?

Anyway, I think we'll be hearing more about this!!

That is brilliant news!

FlagsFiend · 14/01/2021 19:54

@EvilEdnasEnemiesOfEducation

snow too pitiful to close school here today, but has anyone else been told snow days are no longer a thing and we'll all teach from home?

I'm hoping it will mean we'll agonise less over closing, but the kids are well annoyed.

Our KW/vulnerables were sent home due to snow but we still taught online. And some of those sent home attended the online lessons!
EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 14/01/2021 19:55

So sorry Starry.

I bloody hope someone is keeping track of all the education needless deaths.

Sorry to change the subject but please could I ask someone something about teams? Needs to be by PM though, thanks

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 19:57

Surely we need a new Education Secretary???

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 19:59

, now, I mean...
