Honey don’t forget if you want Tories Torying look to the Brexiteers who are now Great Barrington Declaration anti-lockdowners who have a lot of sway in the party.

If you’re aiming for herd immunity and arguing for no restrictions then schools are the perfect battleground.

So many of the KEEP SCHOOLS OPEN lot are anti lockdown GBD types. They all reveal it when they say that ECV kids and teachers should stay at home.

Teachers being vaccinated is a new tactic. Shut up the teachers, let covid run riot among the kids.

Anyone else on the NEU call?

ChloeDecker · 03/01/2021 11:20

When I see it written down noble that makes so much sense and is oh so chilling. The fact that our govt is not actually ‘run’ by those voted in but those ‘behind the scenes’ is very very frightening

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 03/01/2021 11:20

name I am on it.

Yes, I am. Interesting stuff.
MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 11:25

Apparently we have to teach remotely from school because it's better. I'm not sure who for.

Cantaloupeisland · 03/01/2021 11:26

Amanda Spielman can fuck off. I am so fed up of schools being the sole responsibility for children's development. God forbid we actually look at some people's shit parenting.
I have a friend who was at school during the Bosnian war in the 90s. He missed around two years of schooling and another two years was very patchy. He now has a good job and a successful life. I know this is just one case but I do think of him when people are bleating about a 'lost generation' as if working at home for two weeks is dooming kids forever!

OytheBumbler · 03/01/2021 11:26

I'm on it. Fully dressed as well despite the fact I'm not being beamed live on everyone's phones. Feeling slightly disappointed about that. Grin

Monkeytennis97 · 03/01/2021 11:30

On the call.

RigaBalsam · 03/01/2021 11:32

Can you tell us if anything useful is said please?

namechangedyetagain · 03/01/2021 11:34

I washed my hair for the first time in a week especially as well Wink

A very good point that I'll add to the cauldron on the back burner Noble. Random aside but I had a sliding doors moment earlier after posting on here when I remember having a sit down at uni with recruiters from a big London PR agency. There was a big drive at the time with anthropology students which we all saw as them trying to get us to use our powers for evil Grin Our skills were indeed useful but we were mostly people who'd travelled and lived in different sub cultures etc so not really easy to recruit to the city.

And Chloe it is chilling. However I have been outside of the idea of tory bad/labour good for quite some time now and I think it's even more chilling when you feel like it applies to the whole political class and it's 'institutions'. I have to say though I don't understand much about the culture of civil servants and what the status quo of their departments is that runs things in the background regardless of which colour ties are in power.

Might see if I can find the NEU live stream - will try finding their facebook page.

I want to cry. We are now being told to wear masks outside but not in the school building apart from staff rooms. It's only in the classroom I cant distance!

I havent seen my mum in 3 months and now thanks to my job itll be at least another 3 months until I feel it's safe to do so (if were out of tier 4).

Frlrlrubert · 03/01/2021 11:43

'Work from home if you can' is interesting. I think a lot of us are expected to be in unnecessarily.

Definitely!
TheHoneyBadger · 03/01/2021 11:46

absolutely frlrl. That's the only thing I can question my school on currently. There is no need for us to be in except when we are required for kw supervision.

I'm watching and they're talking pretty much common sense you'd think.

They're making it clear anyone can sent the section 44 letter. No need to be an NEU member.

I think they're going to address having exam years in for secondary, etc, nearer the time. But same principle if whole classes I imagine.

eitak22 · 03/01/2021 11:48

Urgh made mistake of fb and seeing DfE propaganda and then entitled parents saying its fine and staff are at no more risk. My DH occasionally goes shopping that is his only risk!

Yes re exam year. They said they are going to have another meeting to discuss secondary school return.
13luckyblackcats · 03/01/2021 11:50

I am on the call. Feeling calmer listening to sensible people.

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 11:52

Getting more and more angry about work from hone if you can. I can but my ht won't let me! FFS.

TheHoneyBadger · 03/01/2021 11:53

I'm actually wondering whether for some people, who aren't at risk yet (eg us secondary workers who aren't being asked to be in full rooms from tomorrow) to actually ask their HT about their feelings about the section 44 letters because some may well want that push and evidence itms. It also shows you are being measured and opens the conversation of eg. 'currently I don't feel it is necessary to do this however if it comes to the 11th/18th and I'm expected to teach full classes and IF figures are still this high I may feel differently'. This ideally should be a kind of consultation between heads and staff not an all or nothing today or never sort of thing.

Good point as the head are asking for details for why you feel this is unsafe.

This is an excellent opportunity to outline issues for many.
