You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if yo

I think it should be from the contact so 14d from then not the result. So 1 school did a couple of days because that was how long it was since the person was in/got ill.
But it could be that with multiple cases they are trying to keep people off the maximum. As i think ive seen most school letters say 14d rather than try to deduct. Also makes sense i guess from the viewpoint that the infectious person not in for probably 4d already but by the time you get that positive it's probably round the class and 14d gives a chance for some of those to be caught (5d+5d etc)

CallmeAngelina · 05/10/2020 13:46

Hmm, @MrsHamlet I wonder if your Head will write a long letter to the parents giving those staff members a public bollocking?

TheHoneyBadger · 05/10/2020 15:18

Oops mrsH.

We're still in the clear. Really strange.

Have had an email saying close the windows but leave the doors open so there goes our ventilation just as the heating comes on blowing hot air around the room.

I'm still going to have at least one window open

noblegiraffe · 05/10/2020 16:01

Hey everybody, I have the most excellent news that will boost your morale!

Gavin Williamson has come out of hiding to thank teachers on World Teacher Day. Could only manage it after last bell but still, good effort. He suggested sending a teacher a free card. I suggest improved safety measures in schools instead.

MrsHamlet · 05/10/2020 16:07

He has not. We suspect private bollockings.

Augustbreeze · 05/10/2020 16:22

@noblegiraffe so boostifying, I wanna thank you most sincerely....

Saucery · 05/10/2020 16:24

Ohhhh, that’s ok then. I feel all Appreciated and at peace now.

MsAwesomeDragon · 05/10/2020 16:28

MrsH those staff will be quaking in their boots waiting for this bollocking. I would be.

If I'm a close contact of anyone, it's at school. I'm never anywhere else!! Although we did have dd's friend round on Saturday. I didn't enforce social distancing between them though, because they sit right next to each other at school, so it feels very pointless to make them SD when at home. Dh and I stayed well away from her though.

FrippEnos · 05/10/2020 16:36

If a head gave me a bollocking for something that I did in my own time I would be giving them what for back.

Then going to the union.

I have done this before and would do so again.

Boris too! I feel honoured!

TheHoneyBadger · 05/10/2020 17:55

Spoke too soon we have a teacher tested positive but apparently they kept 2m away from people where possible so it's ok. We don't get told who so don't get a say ourselves whether we've been in close contact with them.

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/10/2020 17:56

First case in our school today. Pupil. About 30 close contacts identified and sent home... so it begins....

Um I don't think normal T&T ignore people who stayed 2m away from a positive case "where possible"!

But in schools, who knows?!!!

Iamnotthe1 · 05/10/2020 18:08

But in schools, who knows?!!!

Considering some on here have reported that only the kids sat next to the positive case were told to isolate, anything is possible.

I'm really fed up of this general acceptance of incompetence in our elected officials. When did this become okay?

The replies are amazing 😆

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/10/2020 18:15

I think at the point we voted for incompetence in December.

There’s not much we could do about Boris taking over as leader, but by December we’d had the whole prorogueing parliament thing and the negotiating a worse agreement than the May one, not to mention kicking 21 MPs out of the party for pointing out the obvious.

phlebasconsidered · 05/10/2020 18:30

Slt today moaning about teachers going home too early. Fuck that. I am leaving at the end of the day and being at home. I can leave on the dot if I want, surely? I take my marking home. I do all the meetings. I get in at 7.15 when it's quiet at the photocopier.I'm not staying later just to be a martyr or SLT "special". We should ALL be fucking off home asap, surely?

Augustbreeze · 05/10/2020 18:32

Wow phleb!

Interesting thread, esp mention of local PH's take on staff and close contact just posted:

Keep, when I miss my thyroid meds my asthma gets worse. I'm afraid you're going to have to get angry pants on with them. X

Appuskidu · 05/10/2020 18:35

Slt today moaning about teachers going home too early

FFS-my old school would have been like this. What reason did they give?!

WhyNotMe40 · 05/10/2020 18:40

Can I ask some advice please?
You know how we can only get phone call GP appointments at the moment? Well I have something that needs checking out and been given a phone appointment for a particular day this week "before 12".
This is a work day for me. What do I do??

RigaBalsam · 05/10/2020 18:41

Slt today moaning about teachers going home too early

That's ridiculous. The presenteeism again!

We are told to leave p4 if we are free p5. They said the less time in school the better. Unless there's a meeting or any lesson sixes of course. Hmm

Do SLT like that even listen to themselves?! I also wonder if those that do say nonsense like this, have current young children/families themselves? I have to leave on the dot now, to pick up my DD from primary school because none of her school’s wraparound care is running and no local childminder had room for her or would take her on temporarily. I’m relying on some of the loveliest local mums and dads to help drop her off in the morning, so I can get to my own school on time. I’m still meeting all my deadlines and meetings through Teams (even if it means using Teams through my phone on the walk home with my DD!) You’d think at this time, particularly, most SLT would back off and treat their staff as the professionals they are, eh!?
ohthegoats · 05/10/2020 18:51

Yes, we are being advised to leave asap too. Only person there past 5 is the one who lives with her parents and finds doing anything at home impossible.

Augustbreeze · 05/10/2020 18:56

Goodness knows @WhyNotMe40. Consult yr manager? Try ringing the surgery and explaining yr work and seeing if they can give a specific time?
