You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Natasha Devon is on my ‘annoying’ list, but I can’t remember why.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 23:11

Gosh there's a charmer on the Debenhams weirdo thread.

Nasty piece of work.

MrsHamlet · 26/08/2020 23:27

I've been out in a hipster bar drinking gin and licking tables and the Debenhams thread seems even madder and more offensive.

Danglingmod · 26/08/2020 23:39

Is the Debenham's thread a code name for the Toys R Us thread or am I missing something even better?

MrsHamlet · 26/08/2020 23:51

That's the one. I forgot that it started with Toys R Us.

Danglingmod · 26/08/2020 23:55

Hmmm. Well, our Debenham's is still open
Is the idea we teach in the currently closed changing rooms? Grin

MrsHamlet · 27/08/2020 00:12

If you had the right get up and go attitude, you'd know the answer to that 😂

Signing off for tonight with this potentially depressing paper re risk factors from the BMJ. I know we know the risks but thought it might be useful if anyone needs to pass on to slt or similar.

So to summarize that picture, we're fucked with or without masks?

Fabulous Angry

NeurotrashWarrior · 27/08/2020 07:06

Fuck.

NeurotrashWarrior · 27/08/2020 07:08

Nobel, she's a pro trans the kids advocate. Or was, possibly gone quiet on that score.

Well that's a cheery post to start the morning. Is it to early for Wine Gin ?

Danglingmod · 27/08/2020 07:40

Ah, now I shared this info in another thread yesterday but I think it got buried... But it was the article written up on this in the Times...
www.thetimes.co.uk/article/2a4acb9c-e709-11ea-8fb6-8dc16a61b81b?shareToken

Bit bizarre that the Times appears to have turned its coat and is not quite the govt mouthpiece it was last week?

Essentially, the only way not to get infected is to be in a community where the virus never makes its way into your school... excellent.

That's really worrying. We're going off camping today but I really want to shout about that. I teach in an area threatened with local lockdowns.

noblegiraffe · 27/08/2020 08:02

So basically poorly ventilated = fucked. Awesome.

Our risk assessment has the risk of kids jumping out of windows as higher than covid meaning they stay shut.

noblegiraffe · 27/08/2020 08:02

Thanks Neuro, that’ll be it!

ineedaholidaynow · 27/08/2020 08:06

Many windows are painted shut in one of my local Primaries

Prolonged time means you're fucked regardless of ventilation.

Yep, ours are painted shut. And we're on the ground floor.
SaltyAndFresh · 27/08/2020 08:20

I know I'm catastrophising (to an extent) but I feel that Boris, Hancock and Williamson are sending us to potential death and the public is happily letting them do it. My panic is gradually rising. I think I may end up going off sick anyway if cases end up in my large secondary. The bottom line is that I don't want my kids to have to deal with me being ill on top of everything else. I have nowhere to send them to protect them, footballers aren't throwing their hotel doors open for us. The only way around it is for me to pay for a B&B in which case I won't even earn anything.

Why does the MH of everyone else's children come first?
