You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

@Nellodee I came to share the library story!

Thanks Neuro Flowers

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 26/08/2020 20:38

That's a very impressive book selection.

Clearly takes a TES reporter to spot it

Isnt a classroom a communal area at Secondary? Different groups of kids in and out of the room.

@NeurotrashWarrior

That librarian needs a knighthood.
or a job at the DfE

It should be! Although for some reason our RA thinks that children stay in the same classroom all the time (“where possible”), even though that only applies to Year 7. Except Maths. And Art and PE and DT.

I don't know. Probably not what they think of as communal areas. I'm thinking communal areas are not those exclusive to their immense bubble.
StaffAssociationRepresentative · 26/08/2020 20:49

OMG someone in AIBU has started a thread stating they work for the DfE!

I have gone into shock. I need a drink

I couldn't stop myself.

MI5 will now hunt me down and make me disappear as I have upset some civil servants.

It has been lovely knowing you all.

They are probably still stuck in their 'its all primary school' mindset.
WhyNotMe40 · 26/08/2020 21:05

I'm quite conflicted about that AIBU.
Firstly yes it should have been Gavin (but they are saving his headroll for the shit show they know is coming with school retuy)
AND civil servants are supposed to advise and ministers decide....

BUT - the DfE obviously didn't know they'd made such a cock up of the algorithm, because they are arrogant with no real knowledge or understanding of schools, and that it was kids futures they were mucking around. They obviously couldn't "advise" properly as they didn't see their mistake (arrogance and secrecy - should have let everyone know the algorithm before so it could be debated - transparency!)

So....

noblegiraffe · 26/08/2020 21:08

I was more diplomatic than Staff it seems 😂

WhyNotMe40 · 26/08/2020 21:14

Oooh count me as cheerleader for you all there! Much better than I could have done!

Kashtan · 26/08/2020 21:15

Knighthood for that librarian.

FrippEnos · 26/08/2020 21:18

WhyNotMe40

Hadn't they been told early on that the algorithm was (shall we say) poorly thought out?

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 21:32

One of my favourite ex pupils has just signed for Chelsea for 45 million. Pondering if I have nay favours to call in.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 21:32

any

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 26/08/2020 21:35

There are so many of them! I am fascinated to know who does what.

@Piggywaspushed - some tickets would be a good start but I would think the PE teachers would have already been straight in

Which "they" are you referring to?
Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 21:43

Oh no, the PE teachers, and SLT, aren't remotely interested . It's bizarre. Not many school boast an ex student who plays football for England but there isn't even a photo of him!

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 21:44

Plus, I'd rather die than go to Chelsea.

Just a bit of money would be nice ! Grin

noblegiraffe · 26/08/2020 22:02

Surely your Boys Don’t Try guy would be all over using this kid as a role model? Was he any good at English?

Personally I’d be hinting in his direction that I feature in one of those ‘my favourite teacher’ interviews that they do with famous people Grin

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 22:02

Ooooohhhh...

The librarian plot thickens:

You will notice that every book on the top row is carefully chosen. It was political pop, but not at Boris, more the leadership of the school . Interestingly not a book has moved in the last 6 months since the last Librarian left.

says the librarian's DH!

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2020 22:05

He was a very good student. Obviously a part time student owing to training.

Got 2 Bs iirc. Which was pretty good on half schooling and he was a lovely lovely person, too.

Boys Don't Try guy was after his time. Thanks God, or he'd aly some kind of claim to his talents.

FrippEnos · 26/08/2020 22:15

@WhyNotMe40

The DfE.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 26/08/2020 22:32

none of the DfE mob are going to say what they do so I am still clueless on that one
