You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

Thank you so much driving me crazy. It’s so good to know that even on mn not everyone hates teachers. Hope your dd is doing ok and lockdown hasn’t driven you too crazy. Doing maths with my 13 yo may have scarred us both for life Wink

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 16:09

Oh and thanks again to the maths teachers on here who helped me. Still waiting on a reply to the email I sent to ds’s maths teacher and head of maths asking for clarification 4 weeks ago. Maybe I should start a thread about how shit all teachers are on the basis of that? Hmm

drivinmecrazy · 29/07/2020 16:12

Actually my child must be one of the rare few who have benefited.
She's absolutely thrived on the great online teaching she has received.
She tends to be very easily distracted in class but can plough through a day of lessons by lunch time. TBH kind of dreading her going back!!!
My only concern is that she's missed out on actually preparing for the exams and what she can expect next year.
I've accepted that's out of our control and no point apportioning blame.
Control or planning is the one thing we're all having to learn to love without

motherrunner · 29/07/2020 16:12

@drivinmecrazy

Thank you.

motherrunner · 29/07/2020 16:19

@drivinmecrazy Try not to worry. As a core teacher I have a clear focus on my exam classes and what we need to prioritise. Your DD’s teachers will be the same. Contrary to what some MN posters spout we do want your children to succeed 😆 I just hope we can stay open long enough!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 16:22

@drivinmecrazy - thank you for your kind words. They are appreciated.

Thanks @drivinmecrazy.

In other news, anyone looking forward to a Sunny Summer, now that the Rainy Winter seems to be behind us?

Myothercarisalsoshit · 29/07/2020 16:41

Ha ha @Angelina. Me!

motherrunner · 29/07/2020 16:46

Ha ha @CallmeAngelina. I reported her post about the pay and taking teachers down a ‘peg or two’. I cited inflammatory comments as my reason.

motherrunner · 29/07/2020 16:46

I was surprised the comment was deleted so quickly!

Rosieposy4 · 29/07/2020 16:51

Oh god, she is the one on another education thread claiming her husband is a head who moves and sacks up to 80% of the staff

motherrunner · 29/07/2020 16:52

Well they sound a delight 🙄

Piggywaspushed · 29/07/2020 16:56

With the emphasis on claiming.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 17:03

Lots of claims involving Winter - interestingly it is DH who is head not her. I would be mortified if my partner said some of the things she has said - he would be an ex fairly swiftly.

Some people have no shame

And will then struggle to recruit.

Some heads struggle to recruit and it could be that some teachers will jump ship before he arrives.

Aw thanks driving. Hope she and you are having a good summer.

I'm very glad I haven't a clue where these awful threads are.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 17:41

Reported a post for dangerous misinformation during a public health crisis and it went fast. Now there are so many cases and studies disproving the under 18s don’t spread it bs I think mn will be swifter at removing it.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 17:45

Should’ve thought mnhq will have infiltrated that fb group to see what they’re dealing with by now? I think all social media platforms have been encouraged to not let dangerous health misinformation stand.

Saying young people don’t spread it is now disproven and obviously dangerous on a parenting site. In fairness to them maybe when it was still a contentious issue they had to let it stand and now it’s known to be incorrect they’ll do the right thing and remove it? Fingers crossed

twinkletoesimnot · 29/07/2020 18:30

Thanks drivinmecrazy - it's comments like that that remind us lots of people do appreciate us 😊

mumsneedwine · 29/07/2020 19:27

Think I've just been a bit rude on that thread. Whoops. So fed up of being told I'm wrong for wanting a masked class.

Some lovely news. My tutor group have all just told me they are making masks for Sept. Some because they know I'm worried but many have told me they are glad of the chance to wear one - and they can blame it on me 😊

Saucery · 29/07/2020 19:34

They sound so lovely!

I have been blunt on many threads for the last month or so.
Its not worth worrying about.

TBH, I think that they don't like it because they are so used to teachers going out of their way to be nice.

It would be good if we could just be honest with these parents.

mumsneedwine · 29/07/2020 19:52

I wish they'd realise we want to keep schools open and masks will help do that. But I have made my decision to wear mask and visor and I'm afraid it's tough if no one can hear me. It's that or I go off sick with stress.
Hate all of this. Come on Oxford, sort that vaccine.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 20:04

I am dreading the cover lists for next term. I really can’t see an alternative to masks etc if I am given x number of covers a week with different year groups etc. I will be in a bubble of 1200 plus their families.

Crazy times
