You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

Oh thank god you’re all here. I just read “open the schools everyone’s got to die sometime” and I just can’t with these people anymore. No.
I’m a dab hand at fixing a photocopier, I’ll just hang out near there with a coffee, at least photocopiers aren’t as stupid as the general population.

This was where the Middlesbrough data was:

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 19:01

A week later it had dropped to 13% though

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 19:03

25% weren't adhering to SD rules 5 weeks ago. And then given 1-2 weeks incubation and then time for it to become very serious.

I wish there was a proper list of the compliance data.

tadjennyp · 14/05/2020 19:04

Did anyone else see something from the DfE about teacher appreciation day next week? Did I imagine it? I am not sure if I fancy it with the current atmosphere.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 19:05

Lol moo, in a fb group someone pointed out the photocopier was a potential issue re germs etc.

Unless one person does everyone's photocopying and drops it off??

It's back to work books!

Worryingly, data out today shows diabetes as a big risk factor, way more than asthma, though it's not yet known if that's type 1 or 2 or if there are other factors along side eg obesity and poor control of the illness. I do worry about a colleague with type one, though she's currently wfh.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 19:06

Sorry DfE and teacher appreciation in the same sentence????!

tadjennyp · 14/05/2020 19:08

In the Coronavirus update. I think I probably deleted it.

@TheBenefitsPeople - yes dying will help our cause. It will bring into focus the recruitment crisis we have at secondary of teachers who know and understand and can deliver the syllabus. At my current school they have reposted a job advert if the quality of applicants is not good enough

There haven't been many posts on the "schools open in the summer holiday" thread for a while.
( Sorry. Not sorry)

CallmeAngelina · 14/05/2020 19:25

Well, Biscuit, having lobbed her goady hand grenade in, has now buggered skipped off into the sunset, well pleased with her work.

EducatingArti · 14/05/2020 19:33

Or someone has pointed out a flaw in the plans that does not suit parents who might have been in favour of it?
( Again sorry, not sorry)Grin

Asuitablecat · 14/05/2020 19:36

I.think I may have seen at least one of you on my fb union.groupGrin no idea who though.

mumsneedwine · 14/05/2020 19:53

There is now a nurse bashing thread. Never thought I'd see that !!!

fuckweasel · 14/05/2020 19:53

Updated guidance for primary schools has been published. I've only skimmed it, but the 'no rotas' paer will be problematic I think! www.gov.uk/government/publications/preparing-for-the-wider-opening-of-schools-from-1-june/planning-guide-for-primary-schools

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 20:02

I've just seen that weasel. It is quite boggling.

Though I note there's concessions where schools can't manage due to space or staff.

phlebasconsidered · 14/05/2020 20:04

I have always loved Brian Moore (knows the score) and Philup Pullman but today has cemented that more.
In my area there has been a significant uptick in cases

Appuskidu · 14/05/2020 20:09

So, where you can’t have all three year groups in, you just have the youngest. But not on a rota?

Appuskidu · 14/05/2020 20:13

The government have just caved on the transport issue and have just found £1.6m down the back of the sofa, despite the press saying earlier that Sadiq was ‘holding them to ransom’. Will the government cave on June 1st?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 20:15

I'm glad sen schools can choose which year groups.

Grasspigeons · 14/05/2020 20:21

Appuskidu - thats how I understand it. Priority group full time not two groups pt. But its still says all pupils ft in a really quick time frame doesnt it?. It feels like they are just trying to normalise the teachers being in a classroom with children so 3 weeks later they dont mind so much when the class doubles.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 20:22

I don't know who Brian Moore is Vit I like what he has to say!

The tweet lower down though, about the German virologist with a clip.. Shock can't quite make out what he meant by it, if it was before the lockdown?

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/05/2020 20:24

I just don't get it, especially all kids in.

Many many many parents will refuse and it seems to be they're strongly encouraging it?

RigaBalsam · 14/05/2020 20:30

So if not enough teachers can schools say no to year 6?
