You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

@WhyNotMe40 on rainy days you're sorted for hand wash facilities then :)

pinkrocker · 09/05/2020 13:14

I have 4 sinks but no buckets! So that's me knacked.

cantkeepawayforever · 09/05/2020 13:52

I have a bucket. But it is needed to catch the leak from my cold water only sink....

phlebasconsidered · 09/05/2020 14:07

I have a bucket of the magic sand for sick because this year I had a child who would throw up at even the slightest mention of blood, sick, wee, poo anything really. So in the end they just gave me a bucket of it to keep. My classroom stinks of year 6 and sick sand.

ElizabethMainwaring · 09/05/2020 14:13

I've got two buckets and, wait for it, two washing up bowls and three jugs!

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:18

Elizabeth Shock oh my goodness your classroom doesn't double as the caretaker's shed does it? Grin

ElizabethMainwaring · 09/05/2020 14:22

It may aswell. We had some important visitors last term, and the powers that be decided to hide all the overflowing bins in thereHmm

Asuitablecat · 09/05/2020 14:25

I have 4 watering cans at my house. Found them in.a nest behind the recycling.

Having a lovely day today. Instead of freaking out over cw, we went on a fairly moan-free bike ride. No one ate a fly, no one got a fly in.their eye, no one had a weird bug on.them,no one fell in.the nettles. There was some mild itching and a few helmet issues and ds still has terrifying road sense, but otherwise, pretty lovely.now eating scones.

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:25

I know this would be madness really, and there is no way I'm starting a thread on this - but does anyone else here think that rather than opening schools what we actually need is 2 weeks of proper lockdown?
Ie only really essential workers go to work, everything else shuts unless it can be done from home. Only one trip out per household per week and that to the food shops (obviously deliveries will have to be sorted for this who can't manage this). No exercise. No working at work if it can't be done at home.
2 proper lockdown weeks....

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:28

Asuitable - that sounds lovely. We did that yesterday including the scones.

Today's attempt was a moan fear and abandoned after dd1 swerved to avoid a too close car and ended up in brambles bless her. Really not her fault but a twatty driver.

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:28

Moan fest. Autocorrect ..

Piggywaspushed · 09/05/2020 14:35

There is no hope for any of us. My neighbours are allowing all their kids to play a giant water pistol battle outside their houses.

That and the fact all I can hear is his throbbing nightclub music from garden speakers is pushing me over the edge.

CallmeAngelina · 09/05/2020 14:35

I can feel a name-change coming on.

greathat · 09/05/2020 14:38

@WhyNotMe40 yup, our half arsed way of doing things it's keeping the numbers going. Maybe if we shut down properly they'd be low enough to open schools by now. I've got some practical stuff I need to sort out and can only do that at work

CarrieBlue · 09/05/2020 14:40

@WhyNotMe40 and get the army out on the streets to enforce it - I’m beyond pissed off with stupids today

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:45

Oh yes enforcement. All we've got here is the odd Facebook post from our local council begging people to keep their teens and kids in - like that's going to do anything.. .
All our local bike lads are congregating as usual and there were lots of street parties in the estate. And we are a pretty badly hit area by per capita! We all know one person who has died of it, even if by second hand

Piggywaspushed · 09/05/2020 14:48

We had lots of street parties and an open air disco yesterday. Mystery car parked outside my house now, too. So, visitors to someone. Sigh.

But call these MN parents think their DCs will stay apart from each other at school?

WhyNotMe40 · 09/05/2020 14:52

No, they just think it doesn't matter I think.

MossWalk · 09/05/2020 15:06

Some people are just wilfully ignorant. Others are still stuck in this stubborn ‘but children can’t catch it’ mode. I saw a teacher on FB saying that she would be definitely returning to continuous provision because the children need it. Someone pointed out that a) they could transmit cv19 and take it home to their families, b) that puts staff at increased pressure and risk and c) she has to stick to policies rather than martyr herself.

The response... ‘I’ll do what’s right for my children’.

You do that love 🤯

phlebasconsidered · 09/05/2020 15:13

One of our NQT who is not awfully bright and seems about 12 to me said over lunch in the days before lockdown "But it's just old people who actually dies isn't it and really sick people? Like over 50 or disabled or something? My boyfriend says it's just like a cull!"
Does he goosestep up and down in his spare time? thought this 50 something teacher. She's on fb agitating for opening saying how much she misses the kids and when she has been rota on hasn't been social distancing.

My neighbours have had people back and forth all day to look at their puppies. Plus the daughter has her boyfriend and his mates over. I hate them.

pinkrocker · 09/05/2020 15:15

Teen over the road had her birthday yesterday. Cue lots of corsas, kas and 105s pulling up full of young girls with cakes and party hats culminating with the whole lot of them waltzing off to the park to celebrate. Said nowt. Didn't even give them the Teacher Stare.
I think my stare might be faulty by now anyway

Mistressiggi · 09/05/2020 15:16

I was stupid when I was young too.

ElizabethMainwaring · 09/05/2020 15:18

Mosswalk
Oh yes. The 'my children' brigade.
No. They are not your children.

MossWalk · 09/05/2020 15:27

My stare is defo faulty and my voice has gone.

But it's just old people who actually dies isn't it and really sick people? Like over 50 or disabled or something? My boyfriend says it's just like a cull!"

Dear god. Appalling.

Can’t say it for all young ones though. This woman didn’t have youth as an excuse anyway.

MossWalk · 09/05/2020 15:28

They are not your children
Amd never has it been more true when we’re talking about infecting families. There’s an elementary school ‘cluster’ in Japan so it can happen.
