You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

Have reported the sarcastic "now you realise how amazing teachers really are" thread, for the vile goady bollocks it really is, despite the OP trying to make out she didn't intend it to be teacher-bashing. They've all had a lovely time overnight calling us all sorts.

CarrieBlue · 07/05/2020 07:51

That thread is absolutely vile.

StSaulOfSnacks · 07/05/2020 07:59

That OP is just a GF. Use the "hide the thread" function.

chilledteacher · 07/05/2020 08:06

I've also reported the thread.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/05/2020 08:15

Is it the "different" thread? It's taking the biscuit now.

I may as well have pissed in the wind.

RigaBalsam · 07/05/2020 08:20

Anyway, that OP's third post said she didn't want it to be a teacher bash (LOL) and it isn't trending yet so let us just ignore. She is spoiling for a fight. She genuinely doesn't believe we work hard. Her prerogatIvr

Definitely has some sort of weird narrative that poster. Proper chip on her shoulder.

ElizabethMainwaring · 07/05/2020 08:20

I've been reading that thread overnight.
I started typing replies several times and then deleted them.
I knew it would be a waste of time.
Pp is right, she definitely wanted a slagging off session while pretending to be a nice, reasonable person.
There is a bit of a Team NHS and Team Teacher situation going on now in many areas
Which is nice.

ElizabethMainwaring · 07/05/2020 08:25

It certainly is still trending. I'm going to report it too.

roundtable · 07/05/2020 08:25

I think I'm coming to the end of my use of MN.

That thread is very unpleasant and isn't a one off. I was going to reply and thought what's the point.

MN has some very nasty and angry posters who are left to continuously post antagonistic comments it feels like.

Everytimeref · 07/05/2020 08:25

Had my first teams meeting yesterday. Just like most of our work meetings a complete waste of time. How on earth does anyone teach via team???

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 08:29

I would say the NHS (it is usually specifically nurses) vs teachers thing is not new and is never started by us.

I have never read a single thread started by a teacher in order to slag any other job off (except maybe education secretary!)

I don't often believe these posters are nurses, or that they are 'NHS workers' or that their DHs are consultants.

If they are, I find it very sad that fellow hard pressed and underpaid public servants would hate us so much. I think this feeling might date back a few decades when nurses perhaps were viewed by professionals as fairly menial. (that is still an issue within the NHS if Adam Kay is anything to go by...)

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 08:30

Please please don't rise to the bait and post on that thread. It is now in active, which is what she wants.

Theduchessstill · 07/05/2020 08:37

Hello, I've been mainly lurking and it's so reassuring to come on here as refuge when MN or even home life/wfh is getting a bit much. I was also wondering if anyone else here is a HoD, or similar, or even if people who aren't would be willing to share any examples of what their HoDs are doing at this time that's helpful - or not. Along with most other people I'm struggling with how best to meet students' needs but I'm also struggling with the HoD aspect of my role. HT is still expecting quite a bit (seems convinced things will be back to normal soon and that OFSTED will turn up any time from September as if nothing has happened - and maybe they will, I don't know?) I miss my department and have been trying to keep a sense of unity between us but I don't know if I'm likely to be just doing everyone's heads in.

Would love to know what's working and not working for others in this.

GoingtotheWinchester · 07/05/2020 08:38

Argh!!! I wish I’d seen this thread first Sad. I’ve just posted on that thread and wish I hadn’t - so tired of all the teacher bashing, especially from nurses. I come from a family of teachers, nurses and police officers and we all respect each other’s professions for what they are.

It’s good to “meet” you all.

GoingtotheWinchester · 07/05/2020 08:40

@Theduchessstill my friend is an OFSTED inspector (I know right! Shock) and she assures me they’ve been told there will be no inspections this side of Christmas. Don’t know whether you’re HT will believe that but I think there would be a mutiny if they turned up in September!

AppleKatie · 07/05/2020 08:43

Can I come in? I had half a bottle of wine yesterday and engaged with the enemy.

Got told I was a disgrace to the profession etc etc... can I just sit in a chair in the corner and drink tea for a bit?

GoingtotheWinchester · 07/05/2020 08:46

@AppleKatie tea is definitely the answer to everything Grin

Theduchessstill · 07/05/2020 08:46

Oh that's reassuring Winchester

Head has been quite good in many ways tbf but sometimes there's a hint of glee when he speaks of all the extra time we now have for OFSTED prep Hmm

FrippEnos · 07/05/2020 08:46

Have reported that thread, I don't normally feel the need to announce it.

But it will be interesting to see what the response is or if I even get one.

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 08:48

That OP is not a nurse. SALT. Quite reasonable on earlier threads but ,I assume, bored now, and just getting carried away.

FrippEnos · 07/05/2020 08:49

Just checked my email and the first MN e-mail is

"Want to become a teacher."

I wonder if they even see comedy value in this.

CallmeAngelina · 07/05/2020 08:51

It's gone.
Thank fuck.

(and I ran in last minute to post something along the line of "fuck off you vile toxic fuckers" and missed the boat!). At the end there was someone who'd just said something or other about parents being our clients so we needed to man up and do our jobs properly or something similar.

Sureitwillbegrand · 07/05/2020 08:51

Damn it I went and looked but did not engage 😂 I had stopped looking at active and now only pop into the staffroom for a quick look.

Morning all, it's the last day of the week and weather looks good for the weekend hope you have some nice plans (at home)

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 08:52

What was the deletion message?

RigaBalsam · 07/05/2020 08:57

Our clients indeed. They really do think we are in the customer service industry.

No tips though.
