You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

Deletion message on poisonous thread:

Message from MNHQ: Thanks for the many reports about this thread. We reckon the OP has got an answer to their question, and in the interests of harmony, we're taking this one down now.
Peace and love

(Tube here) - I reported that thread too. I was genuinely upset by it. Glad it's gone.

Not enough of a rap across the knuckles with a ruler, in my opinion, but still.

WhyNotMe40 · 07/05/2020 09:02

Oh my goodness what a poisonous thread.
I genuinely feel really upset and down now.

Whoever said it is like self harm to read such threads wasn't wrong

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 09:07

That is similar to another deletion thread which skirts the bashing issue and suggest both sides are as bad as each other (which is what I think MNHQ actually think) but well done those who reported. Teamwork!!

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 09:13

It is quite a big deal to have your thread deleted though so that might make Daffodil think twice.

RigaBalsam · 07/05/2020 09:23

I was deleted a few years ago as they said it was a thread about a thread. I was really annoyed at the injustice of it. BlushGrin

Hercwasonaroll · 07/05/2020 09:24

Any primary colleagues out there clarify whether you are entering data on expected SATS grades for y6 anywhere other than internally?

Sorry for the work related Q, no one seems to know and it would be useful to have an idea of students will come with any data or not.

FrippEnos · 07/05/2020 09:24

We can only hope

Feenie · 07/05/2020 09:29

I'm giving TA data to high schools that ask. That's all.

FlamingoAndJohn · 07/05/2020 09:32

I was part way through that thread when it went pop.
What really winds me up is the people who say ‘being a solicitor/dentist/firefighter isn’t easy either but you don’t see us defending ourselves all the time.’ Well no, because even in normal times there aren’t threads complaining about solicitor/dentist/firefighters every single day.

BelleSausage · 07/05/2020 09:33

Gah! I got sucked in again.

That thread about the need for schooling to look different.

Some people don’t realise how much they sound like the Daily Fail.

Appuskidu · 07/05/2020 09:37

I was awake at 3am (worrying about work) and read that thread. I was so cross and upset, I couldn’t sleep for 2 hours. I have come across that OP on other threads-they seem to have an increasing problem.

Every time someone replied defending teachers, a poster would pile in saying, ‘see-you’re just proving the OP’s point there!!’

I reported it as well. It was vile. The MN response was the equivalent of a teacher dealing with a bullying incident by smiling indulgently at the bully and moving them to a better seat in the class.

echt · 07/05/2020 09:54

Proverbs 26:11 King James Version: As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

The originator of that vile thread will be back, no doubt.

As students at my last UK school would say: She's got ishoos, man. :o

I think they do realise...

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 10:10

I know this is the staffroom so we are all highly educated and socially aware. Don't forget the average DF reader is a female aged 45+ with children and married, more likely to be a SAHP or work part time than average. Far less likely to be the main wage earner or an equal wage earner to partner than a broadsheet reader. Less likely to have been educated to university level but likely to have job requiring specific skills. More likely to live in the south. Likely to have voted Conservative, and Leave in Brexit.

Sounds like an awful lot of the posters.

BelleSausage · 07/05/2020 10:11

@Piggywaspushed

Good point. Must disengage! I had been doing so well too.

WhyNotMe40 · 07/05/2020 10:11

Can I just say as former year 7 tutor I would just love it if sats were scrapped and yr6 teachers could just give an honest scoring of their students without an eye on Ofsted ratings. Would make the first term so much easier.
Plus a score on how much pastoral time they take up so we don't have all the high needs ones loaded in one group. That would be lovely Smile

WhyNotMe40 · 07/05/2020 10:13

Piggy I thought you were describing me for the first part of that! Grin
45 female, part timer, not main wage earner...

But I'm a labour or green voter and remainer....Grin

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 10:18

Exactly!

Do you live in a new estate or on the fringes of a town and have your own small car ? Do you shop in a supermarket more often than online? Do you never use public transport and run your children to school daily?

Also the profile!

Mistressiggi · 07/05/2020 10:29

Quite glad I slept in this morning and missed another onslaught Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 07/05/2020 10:38

Um 25 year old estate in city suburbs. Yes I have my own car but it is the big one as I'm usually the one running the kids about.
Walk the kids to school and cycle to work myself. Shop online because ds3 is a horror in a shop and it's not worth it Grin
Public transport is shocking here but I use it at least once every school holidays as the kids love going on the top deck into town . And also I hate driving into town so avoid it!

Am I still the DM target audience? Grin

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 10:41

Not remotely!

phlebasconsidered · 07/05/2020 10:52

Whynot , in a usual year I pass up to the secondary an honest assessment of each child and where they would naturally sit without year 6 sats interventions. And the usual stuff about personality. It's easier for me as we only have one secondary within catchment but I do it on a spreadsheet every year for them. Why not ask them for one?

This year I am sending what my predictions would have been along with where i think they will likely sit after absence and any issues arising from this that we know of so far.

It's truly worth asking.
